  1. I'm sorry you are not feeling well... but you did just had surgery! I was banded on May 30th and took me a week to the day (yesterday) to feel human again!!! Until yesterday I had to force myself to eat and drink anything, horrible pain at the site of port... and then there was the gas!!!! It really will get better! By this time next week you will have forgotten how uncomfortable you were this week!!! (Just like childbirth... you forget how painful it was!!!) Hang in there!!!! It will get better... and just remember you are now on the road to a new YOU!!!!!
  2. So glad I was able to come up with the funds and go self pay with Dr. Spivak!!! Sorry your having so much trouble!
  3. I was banded on May 30th and as of today I'm down 10lbs since surgery!
  4. I called my doctor the other day because I had started coughing just a bit and was worried about the same thing. I was told not to worry that the biggest problem would just be the pain since I just had surgery.
  5. That sucks you got sick!!! Glad he let you take something for the headache!! Yeah... we are suppose to let the steri strips come off on their own. I have Friday off work so I just have 2 more days this week to suck it up at work!! And too think I was going to go back yesterday! What was I thinking!!!!!!!
  6. Yeah I know... some people are having a really tough time!! Aside from some gas and the port site still pretty sore I just don't have any appetite! I have to really force myself to eat or drink! I haven't had any nausea so that's good! I went to work today but probably should have stayed home... I was so tired and just had no energy today! I'm doing better with my protein and liquid today and I'm sure it will get alittle easier each day. What day did you start to feel really good?? Or have you yet?
  7. Had my surgery on Friday (5-30-08) and went back to work today. I'm having a hard time getting my liquids and proteins in but I guess it gets better everyday!! I'm just anxious to get the first week out of the way!! This healing process sucks!
  8. Oh yeah!! I'm in Spring and was just banded on Friday (May 30th) by Dr. Spivak. He has 2 support group meetings a month but they are so far away from me so this would be great... off to pm you!!!
  9. I was banded yesterday (May 30th) and I'm doing better then I expected to be. I've had alittle liquid Tylenol and some gasX as far as meds go... but no pain that is intolerable! My stomach just looks huge due to the swelling... by daughter said geesh mom looks like there could a be a baby in there... thanks honey! Other then that I'm doing well and ready to get started on this new journey!
  10. Any one else get there band today... May 30th? I can't believe it's over!!!! I'm actually feeling pretty good so far!
  11. Had my surgery today!!! I'm surprised how well I did! No untoleralbe pain... haven't take any pain meds yet but that may change when I try to go to bed.... Can't seem to get comfortable!! I'm still alittle in shock that I did it... and it's over!!!!
  12. I'm glad your doing so well!!! This was very reassuring to me as I will be banded Friday morning!! I haven't been nervous at all until today... have to say I'm getting alittle anxious now as it's getting closer! Keep us posted on how your doing!
  13. After you make your ticker you will copy the first code they give you and then go here to your user CP and click on signature options. Then paste the code into your signature. And it should work.
  14. I have my date set for May 30th! I'm so excited to get on with this journey! Congrats to all those who have already been banded this month... and best of luck to all those this week who will join the ranks!!!
  15. What a fabulous idea!!! I'm in Houston and will certainly be there!!!!
  16. Yes I'm in Houston... close to the Woodlands!
  17. I suggest that you attend several seminars and see which doctor is a good fit for you. It's a difficult decision for sure as there are so many doctors out there! If your going the route of insurance then your choices may be more limited then if you are self pay. I have a date with Dr. Spivak on May 30th!!!! Best of luck in finding a doctor!
  18. No offense taken. I did what was right for me... I did not care for the doctor my insurance would pay for. His office staff was rude on each occasion and I knew then that he would not be my doctor! The only alternative was to self pay. I know that everyone has different financial situations and if things had been different for me... then yes I would have had to suck it up and go with insurance. Luckily I had options and I'm comfortable with my decision and in the end that's all that matters.
  19. This is why I decided to go self pay! When I called Aetna to check my coverage they said I only needed to do the 3 month diet... but I just had this feeling that it wouldn't stop there and they would say 6 at the last minute!! Don't get me wrong... I don't have a money tree in the back yard... but I found a way to go ahead and pay for it... just couldn't bare the thought of having to wait 6+ months to make this happen! I'm so sorry they have given you the run around!
  20. I don't know much about Dr. Spiegel as he was not one of the doctors I was interested in. But of those that I checked out I decided to go with Dr. Spivak and will be banded on May 30th. Best of luck in your decision!!! It's hard to narrow it down to just one!
  21. Okay so I have my surgery date set for May 30th and on Monday I went and had my EKG and blood work done. Well... last night when I got home I had a message from my PCP doctor to call today. It seems my WBC count was alittle elevated so they had me come back in to re-do it today. I am so worried that this is going to screw up my surgery next week!!!! Has this happened to anyone else?
  22. They want me to do an EKG (I have high blood pressure) and bloodwork for my preop tests. I have to call my PCP tomorrow to see if they can get me in this week!!!
  23. Woo hoo!!!! Just got my date this morning for May 30th!!!!
  24. The seminar went great! I have my surgery scheduled for May 30th!!! That's as long as I get my 2 preop tests done in time! Sarah I'm in Spring... and what kind of deal did you get at Journeylite??? Just Curious!
  25. After much deliberating I have decided to go with Dr. Spivak and I'm so excited to get the show on the road (sort to speak)!! I am going to his seminar and pre op appt. on Saturday. So for those of you who went to Dr. Spivak I have a few questions: 1. What kind of preop tests did you have to have done? 2. How soon after your preop appt. were you able to schedule your surgery? 3. Was your surgery on an outpatient basis or did you spend the night in the hospital? 4. Where did you have your surgery? Thanks!!!!
