  1. I had immense back pain. I have been seeing a personal trainer for over two months. No more pain.
  2. Ditto gabybab. Plus I lost in waves. Didn’t lose any for a few days then boom. Then stall a few days then boom. Hang in there.
  3. I had no issue after the first week of swallowing them whole. Try breaking them in half.
  4. I have discovered Yes Peas. High protein peas made into a chip. Totally satisfied my urge to crunch.
  5. What are some of the new foods you have found post surgery?
  6. Never wore the robe I brought. Chapstick, Hand lotion, phone with charger, change of socks, tooth brush. If staying 2 nights I would add hair brush and undies. Be prepared to walk the halls as much as you can. I wore my tennis shoes.
  7. Wellbutrin made my anxiety worse. We are all different! The eating changes we have made in our lives are changing every aspect of who we are and what we do. Everything from my looks to feelings to activities to the clothes I wear and the way I walk has changed. Give yourself a break. Get help and know you are not alone on this wild and crazy journey!!!
  8. In my final class just before surgery a man said he could control his eating. Had no issues but had a case of gout and that’s why he was getting the sleeve. Another women said she couldn’t give up gum or Diet Coke. After the meeting she stands and can barely walk. Yes. I was judgy with them both.
  9. 4 weeks post surgery and I watch the show more now then before surgery. Having gone through it, it is nice too see others perspectives but frankly I am tired of it always being the mom as the reason they over ate.
  10. My husband eventually came around. As a skinny man with a high metabolism he didn’t understand. 3 weeks post op he is loving the results and ahhh, ummm ‘benefits’ of a slimmer spouse. We do this for ourselves. Love yourself and to heck with others.
  11. I too fell into the trap of eating poorly due to two kids with mental health issues. Know you are not alone. There are more of you out there then you know. Don’t feel guilty about anything. As moms we try our best. I agree that having simple healthy no thinking foods around might help you. My go to as a busy mom is greek yogurt. Grab and go and eat on the run. Hugs!!!!
  12. Don’t tell my dr but I only had one protein shake a day. Ate turkey meat and eggs, heavy on the egg white, instead. But everyone is different and every doc has a different program. My liver was great and I lost weight too.
  13. I made homemade 11 bean soup and added lentils and barley. A little goes a long way so I didn’t make too much. There is a great product called Better Than Bouillon which is located in the soup isle at your store. Adds great flavor. I blended it smooth and added a dash of vinegar to prevent gas issues. Freezes well too. I ate this soup daily for two weeks. Added powdered egg white for even more protein. Homemade is yummy!
  14. Huge NSV’s yesterday. Went to Disneyland two week two days post op. I fit and could easily get off and on rides I haven’t even attempted for years! Weird though...the two roller coasters I went on usually tickle my tummy. Not this time. I guess there is less to tickle?!?!
  15. I didn’t realize how much eating a meal was an activity. Lunch with a friend. Dinner out with the husband. Brunch with family. Even grocery shopping and cooking dinner. I still cook but it is different now. It’s just another chore.
  16. I have told people. I would be concerned if a friend suddenly started losing a lot of weight so I would rather let them know I am alright. Everyone needs to do what is comfortable for them.
  17. I find chicken breast can be to dry. Seafood is my preferred protein along with Fairlife milk. I can’t wait for rare filet minion steak which I will try at 6 weeks post op. I have read that well done cooked meat is harder to digest.
  18. My bariatric nurse said Benifiber helps with all poop issues. Both extremes. My gripe.....9 days post op. Feeling so great but craving real food. Today had bites of chicken (chewed to pulp) and a shrimp. So freaking good. I feel like I taste things more now. So far my tastes have not changed.
  19. I am doing best drinking alkaline water. Room temp.
  20. Had sleeve on 21st too. Doing great. I can drink 1 cup of fortified milk in 15 minutes. Worried dr left stomach too big!
  21. Anyone concerned consuming so much artificial sweeteners? I would rather eat turkey or other proteins instead.
  22. 6 days out. Still pain in stomach after eating or drinking but getting better. Stopped pain meds 48 hours after surgery. Walking and moving is a must!
  23. Try warm lemon water. Our Metabolism changes it to alkaline water. Really helped me. Day 6. Eating cream of wheat now. Never knew it was so good! Ok it’s normally not but at least it has no artificial sugar taste.
  24. I had hernia repair too. Three days out. Pain only when I drink. Hope it gets better.
  25. 3 days post op. Before and after surgery my sense of smell is amazing. Husband came to bed after eating chocolate. Smelled him all night long. Divorce lawyer is now in speed dial.
