I am so happy!! I just called Aetna and they told me that they approved my surgery last Friday. This morning I got clearance from anesthesiologist and Wednesday I start my 12 day pre op diet. Two shakes and 4-6 oz lean Protein and a small salad or vegetables (optional 2 small snacks). I guess I will be enjoying a few favorite meals today and tomorrow.
April 29th here I come!!

I am having my surgery on the 29th and starting my pre OP dier on the 17th. From what I've read from your experience and others, everyone's experiences are different. I am hoping for an easy surgery, but if there are hiccups along the way I have a small support system in place. I am glad to hear that your family are taking care of you, and that you are doing much better.

I am not a smoker but regarding whether or not the surgeon will not do the surgery. My nurse told us that if we do not follow the pre OP the surgeon will stop the surgery and not move forward. Sometimes it's not about the money. Safety of the patient comes first.
Wishing you luck with your surgery.

I haven't told anyone at work and plan to keep it that way. All they know is that I am going on vacation. No need to feel guilty. They already see me drinking Protein Shakes and passing on the birthday cakes. At this point they probably assume I am on another extreme diet. lol.

I am so sorry you had to experience this kind of treatment at a time when you are at a vulnerable state. I had to help my son inject blood thinner and it is a very stressful and delicate process. Please report her, because she may cause another patient harm. Clearly she brought her bias to the workplace which is unfortunate and unacceptable.
Wishing you the best.

I had to get clearance from my PCP, sleep test, psychology, endoscopy and cardiologist who sent me to get the stress test. I go to their support group on my own as it i s not required.

My Aetna plan required 3 visits with a dietitian/nutritionist and 4 consecutive visits with my surgeon. I was not required to do a medically supervised weight loss.

I went to my support group yesterday and the special speaker was a plastic surgeon from the hospital. He said its really genetic, age and other factors determined how quickly the skin snap back. You can get good weight trainers from Amazon. My doctor said no tight clothes within 3-4 weeks. Not sure what I am going to do because I wear body sharpers everyday under my clothes. LOL.
Good luck with you surgery!

Agree with you @Dabeyhive and in some cultures people are taught to be respectful to people in authority and in some cases people are just not confrontational and do not know how to deal or handle conflicts.
