What did you do with your old clothes

Folks are donating their clothes. I haven't seen where people are holding on to clothes that are to big. I for sure will be taking the clothes that no longer fit to a church or goodwill. I can see where someone may hold on to one item to show how far they've come in their journey.

    Insurance will not cover

You can check to see if you can get insurance through your state insurance exchange market place or medicaid. I know NY have a host of different insurance offered through their marketplace. I know you said that you can't take a loan but some people are going to Mexico where it is cheaper. If you are able to choose that route, you can find out if your insurance will cover some of the pre-op tests. Wishing you the best!!

    Smells

Try lemon to clean the armpit while taking a shower or bath. Hair under the armpit also traps bacteria.

    Pre OP diet

Leelee you can do it focus, focus, focus. I am on my 9th day and my strategy was to drink my 2 protein shakes while at work, plus plenty of water, tea and a crystal light. When I get home i eat a small dinner of salad or steam vegetables with 4-6 oz protein. Tomorrow begins my 2 day of only clear liquids and then off to surgery on Monday. Hang in there!

    April 2019 Surgeries!

My surgery is 10:00am on Monday. I like the time because I can still take my daughter to school and make her breakfast before I leave.
  10. Don't mind people who say that you are taking the easy way out. Going under anesthesia and all the test and planning is not the easy way out. I am going to strut into work with no high blood pressure, no prediabetic like I was on the runway at a NYC fashion show.

    (ms.sss) 6 Month Post-op Update

I am definitely going to take your advice by journaling everything I eat. It seems to be the best form of accountability. My program suggested 5000mg biotin chewable for hairloss and nails.

For those who hated or were bored with exercise

How soon did you start hot yoga @ms.sss I use to practice up until 2017. Do you take the entire 90mins. The studio were I went to had 90mins and 60mins classes. I would like to practice once cleared by my doctor after my surgery. Thank you.
  15. I asked about the special soap, nurse said not for bariatrics, but they use soaps for different types of surgery.

    Pre-Op Diet Adherence

I don't see any problem with eating fish and veggies. My liquid allow protein 4-6 oz protein with veggie or salad. Just make sure the fish is steam or baked and skip on the sauce or gravy. Its not like you are going to eat a big mac, or a pizza. Good luck!
  17. My instruction say do not shave the area where the incision will be and do not apply perfume, deodorant, lotion, makeup or chemical where incision will be.
  18. Yes look at us now. I remember you having a little bit of angst about whether or not you would be approved. I am so glad that things worked out for you. We are definitely on our way to living our best lives yet.
  19. Good luck tomorrow. I am having my surgery on Monday and I am waiting for my surgeon's office to confirm the time. I told them first thing in the morning and from my understanding first surgery is around 6:30 am.

    Aetna Approved

I am so happy!! I just called Aetna and they told me that they approved my surgery last Friday. This morning I got clearance from anesthesiologist and Wednesday I start my 12 day pre op diet. Two shakes and 4-6 oz lean protein and a small salad or vegetables (optional 2 small snacks). I guess I will be enjoying a few favorite meals today and tomorrow. April 29th here I come!!

    Aetna Approved

Also I've been getting in 10, 000 steps on most days and I go to the gym 1-2 days a week.

    Aetna Approved

You should be hearing from Aetna soon. My liquid diet is going quite well. I had headaches for the first 3 days but I am alright now. I am now down to 149lbs and before I started the liquid diet I weighed myself and I was 160lbs. I was eating a few of my favorite food before starting the liquid diet lol. I had the option to have 2 snacks on the liquid but I choose not to. Here is what I've been eating and drinking. 2 premier shakes(break fast & lunch) 1 crystal light water 2-3 cups of herbal tea. Baked chicken turkey or veggie burger steam squash steam cabbage green salad. salad dressing I use braggs apple cider vinegar.
  24. Take into consideration that there are different types of AETNA insurance plans and what is required. I have Aetna and there are things listed on the above that I did not need to do or was not required to do. It all depends on the plan your company have. For example my deductible is $1000 and and I am responsible for 10% after I've reached my deductible. The surgeon had a specific list of what my plan required. One type of Aetna insurance plan do not fit all. Wishing you good luck with your surgery.
