Psych Eval Cost.. is this normal?

Paying $575.00 seems high to me. My insurance does not cover the psychological so I did mine as part of a study group and it was free. (I got a free Fitbit) and if I am selected as part of the group I would earn $180.00. I had know idea about the $180.00 but I will take it. I just wanted the free evaluation. The process took about 4 hrs in total. If I had chosen not to the the study it would have been $100 for one hour. Someone I know paid $150.00 and the maximum as far as I know from another hospital was $200.

    New Job Offer, planned surgery

I would be honest with the hiring manager so they have heads up. For your privacy you do not have to go in to details with the procedure. You have already invested so much for your health, and good manager will understand. As a manager myself I prefer to be notified in advance so that I can make adequate staffing needs.

Coming up with a diet plan

I did not have surgery yet, but my suggestion would be to add exercise and weight training if you haven't already. Make sure you get in water, if not perhaps you can add tea. One of my Favorite brand is Tazo as they have nice exotic flavors, I drink it cold.

    sleep study

My at home study was for one night. The machine had to capture sleep for about 6 hrs. My breathing tube came off at some point while I was sleeping because I forgot to tape it tightly to the back of my neck. They were still able to capture enough to determine that I did not have sleep apnea. Make sure you follow the instructions. The woman at the hospital assembled it for me so all I had to do was put it on secure the belt and tape the cords to the side of my feet, ears and forehead. My son helped me so If you have someone to help you attached the cords that would be great. I found It a bit uncomfortable sleeping but it was no big deal.

    Fighting addictions pre-op/post-op

    Fighting addictions pre-op/post-op

Thank you for sharing. I don't have a surgery date yet but I have already given up sweets, coffee, and lattes. It was easy for me to kick the sweets because I was never really into chocolate cake etc. The coffee I drank it because they offer free coffee at work. On the other hand, I like salty snacks especially, Cheetos and popcorns. I've given up the Cheetos since January but still hanging on to popcorn which I need to stop due to high blood pressure.

    Pre-Op Classes

I don't think you are judging. You are probably shock to hear that there are some people who will go through the long hard process of WLS but aren't willing to make lifestyle changes in order to reap the maximum benefits. Hopefully the more they attend the preop classes the more educated they will become in understanding the importance of giving up certain food. Like everything else some will be successful while others may not be.

Stomach spasms turned out to be an ulcer

Wishing you a safe and speedy recovery.
  16. You can probably try a provider who is affiliated with the hospital, but check with your doctor first to make sure the provider is acceptable.
  17. I am annoyed for you. Glad you said no because it's no one's business but your own. I have one specific intrusive person at my job who will be trying to figure out once I do my surgery. I am hoping to be approved for spring break. Wishing you the best.
  18. You made me laugh!!. There is no need to be embarrassed, a picture is all it takes at times. The good news is that you are on your way to a healthier you and thanks for sharing. For me I was tired of losing and gaining weight and my blood pressure keep getting out of control with the more weight I gain. I've always been able to control my weight until I had my daughter 9 years ago, no matter how many gym and personal trainer I go to the weight wont shake. I spoke to a couple of people who had WLS and they couldn't be happier. I discussed it with my older boys and they are happy with my choice. Lastly I missed my size 10 clothes. I am looking forward to a nice summer where my daughter and I can do a lot of outdoor activities.

Preparing for 2 week liquid diet😬

That's a good idea. Personally I've been eating a lot of yogurt, and drinking plenty of herbal teas. I also have some left over herbalife power that I am finishing up so, I have one shake a day. I am trying not to gain any weight to avoid a denial from my insurance.

    I just got started

Hi There, My name is Susie, and I am new to this as well. I am in the Bronx hoping to do my surgery in April. I have psychiatrist evaluation and stress test on Thurs Feb 14th, last physical therapy on Feb 28th and cardiologist clearance March 13th. After careful research, I am leaning towards the gastric bypass and will discuss this with my doctor on March 19th. My current weight is 257lbs with highest weight has 260lbs and goal is 150lbs. I have high blood pressure because of the excess weight and it scares me a lot. I will be doing my surgery at Mt. Sinai in Manhattan. The appointments overwhelmed me but I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life.
  21. Congratulations and keep up the good work. You are doing great!

    H. Pylori Question

I was also tested for H Pylori during my endoscopy and I had no prior symptoms. I took the antibiotic and did a test 2 weeks later and it came back negative. On the bright side I would not have known I had H Pylori if I wasn't doing weight lost surgery.
  23. Will you be doing your surgery at a hospital in the Bronx. I choose Mt. Sinai in Manhattan upper east side since there is were I go to get my regular checkup and it was more convenience.
