    Anemia after gastric bypass question

My previous pcp told me B12. My parents use to cook a lot of liver but after I moved to the US I've never ate again 29yrs ago. I will add anything in my diet that is necessary. Liver is not to bad. I also do not eat fish or any sea food. I heard people say that they develop a liking for some food that they did not eat prior to surgery maybe that will happen with fish. Thank you.

7 months post op VSG surgery

Hey Alpaca congratulations on your journey so far. Don't let the gym scare you trust me it's not really that intimidating. Pick a time when it's not really crowded. My gym is mostly crowded in the evening so you can find out the peak hours. If you are unfamiliar with the machines most gyms give a tour and instructions on how to use them. You can also sign up for personal training . It can be expensive but they offer group sessions. Don't pay attention to those fit looking people just work at your own pace. If you don't want to hit the gym there are loads of YouTube videos that you can do in the comfort of your home. Or better yet pick an outside activity that you can enjoy. You got this!

    April 2019 Surgeries!

I"ve been having dreams about the surgery. I dreamt last night that the hospital had my address wrong and that the room was hot. What if I don't loose any weight after the surgery. Then I say to myself, Susie what would you prefer being healthy or high blood pressure, heart disease, joint pain, sleep apnea, diabetes and all the short comings of being overweight. We will be ok, we just have to trust the process and our medical teams.

    Sleep Study

You pretty much need to attach the cords to your body, chest, legs, finger, behind your ears and nostril. They need to capture about 6-6 1/2 hrs of sleep. Make sure you secure the cords properly. Especially the ones inside the nostril. You can do so by taping the cords behind your neck securely. It's best to have someone help you attach the cords. It was uncomfortable sleeping, but I managed. My result say mild sleep apnea. I snore when I sleep.

    Insurance question... pre-op weight

I have Aetna and my surgeon had the requirements for Aetna. I lost 1 lb total for the 4 required visits with my surgeon and have since lost 8lbs in total. They did not stress weight loss but encouraged me to start to make healthy choices, exercise etc. Which I already do anyway and has lost 8 lbs in the process. You don't really get much information when you call Aetna customer service. I got all my best answers from my surgeons team, who are great with answering all of my questions. If you have a patient coordinator check with them, they are the ones who gather and submit all paper work. Good luck

You will get back to 170. I need to sort my clothes to. I have 4 boxes of clothes from when I move 2 years ago. I shouldn't have to buy clothes for a while but I like to shop.

I told my surgeon patient coordinator that spring break will be best. All I am saying at work is I am taking spring break off since my little one will be home as well as my college kids.

    "Supervised Exercise Program"

The Aetna plan I have requires only 3 dietician visits . They are mainly nutrition educational sessions. No supervised exercise. I have a gym membership so I utilize it 3 days a week.

    "Supervised Exercise Program"

I have Aetna, they require 3 consecutive monthly visits with a physiatrist. My physiatrist recommended 6 visits with a physical therapist because of knee issues walking down stairs. I only went to 2 secession because I felt it was due to the excess weight I gained. I told him that I did not want to go back and that I have been going to the gym 3 days a week. He approved me with flying colors.

    Any regrets with RNY?

Hi Annie, I haven't had my surgery yet, and like ZGal said, I also dont have a long term success to share. At my first appointment with the surgeon I was sure that I wanted the sleeve, but the more research I did, I came to the conclusion that the best for me is the RNY and I already told my surgeon's office of the change. There's an old saying that say the best consumer is an educated consumer. I think the waiting period no matter how long it may seem at times give us the opportunity to research and to figure out what the best option is. I don't think dumping syndrome will be an issue for me as I have already stopped eating or drinking any sugary food for more than a month now. You should ask your surgeon the percentage of his patients who gain the weight back from the sleeve or RNY, and percentage of revision from sleeve to RNY he does. Wishing you the best. ZGal gives an update on how you are doing. I would like to know and wishing you much success.
