I keep seeing you can have sugar
anl1990 replied to Sandra Nuelken's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think it has more to do with it leading to bad habits - sugar is an extremely addictive substance, and the more it is added into diet, the worse one's diet tends to get. A little every now and then is fine, I'm sure - I personally indulge from time to time. BUT. I know if I have it regularly I will end up right back where I started. I also think some tend to not tolerate it well after surgery. My husband (who also had surgery) is more sensitive to foods than I am, so he has to more closely watch what he eats. Just be smart about it. Listen to yourself, and keep in mind what is best for yourself. (: -
Nearly One Year Out...LOVING LIFE!
anl1990 replied to Screwballski's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on your success, and thank you for posting this! This is wonderful! (: -
I don't know if I will be any help, but I was/am pre-diabetic. Going into the surgery, I took medication. My surgeon told me I was able to stop taking the medication following surgery - however, I also take Lisinopril, and was told to stay on it. I will be seeing my primary doctor in May, and will be getting blood work done before then. I will find out from her what I should do from here on out, as far as if I can discontinue all medication, keep doing what I am doing, etc. Best of luck, I hope this is able to help you with yours!

I personally really like the Special K protein bars. The strawberry and chocolate peanut butter ones are both sooo good! (:

Losing inches not weight
anl1990 replied to DelawareWoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like the others said, the stall is normal. It sounds like you are doing exactly what you should be doing, so don't get discouraged! It will start moving again! Best of luck. x -
Need encouragement from slow losers
anl1990 replied to Briswife15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am losing fairly slow as well. I just try to remind myself the doctor said I am still right where I should be, and focus on the non scale victories. The last time I went in for a visit, I found out I have lost 10 inches around my waist since surgery! I know it is hard, but just try to embrace the little things. Every little bit counts. <3 -
That is awesome, keep up the great work!!!

I would recommend Torrid for a good bralette. My friend has a problem of dealing with larger breasts, and she absolutely loves their bralettes. Plus, they are super cute and super comfortable!

Best of luck with the rest of your journey! I hope it all goes well! (:

I started my process 3/1/18, and was sleeved 12/12/18, so 6 months is a fairly reasonable expectation. It honestly just depends on your insurance - mine required 6 months of diet tracking, which is why it took as long as it did. (:

Fantastic surgeon for anyone in Michigan
anl1990 replied to Kara Eckel's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am glad to hear you have had such a fantastic experience with your surgeon! That is super important. I personally had Dr. Holman based out of Grand Rapids, MI, and both she and her entire staff have been amazing. I would highly recommend them if any of you need someone in the West MI area. (: -
That's exciting! You look amazing!! (:

You look amazing, congrats! (: -
Your weight is going to fluctuate - I know it is hard, but as others have said try to stay off of the scale. It can be such a curse and a blessing. I would suggest if you really want to see the numbers, aim for weekly instead of daily. It sounds to me like you are doing really well - embrace how far you have come so far! You are doing fantastic!

I am so sorry you are having such difficulties with this. Sending good vibes your way - I hope it ends up working out for you. xo

I still struggle to go like I probably should, but I am trying to focus on starting out at 3x a week. When I go, I do about 30min. of cardio (usually the treadmill), and then I do this 30min total body workout - it is a section in Planet Fitness where it has a set of machines you go through to get in strength training on your entire body. If you are intimidated by the gym, I would highly suggest looking into PF if you have one locally. The atmosphere at any of them I have went to is so welcoming, and friendly. Not to mention the price is pretty nice. Best of luck! I have faith in you!

I wouldn't say I had problems, but was it hard? Some days, yes. Especially towards the end, when I was ready for something at least somewhat solid. Honestly, though, I did not really have much of an appetite, so the only trouble I really had was just making sure I was getting in enough fluids and protein.

When I was younger, I was told I looked like Amanda Bynes. I never really saw it, but she is pretty so I will take it lol.

^This^ It's nothing you did, it's just the website. (:

I have been sticking to the clearance section of stores, and thrift stores. I am not going to pay a bunch of money for clothes which will only fit for a little while. My husband (who also had the surgery) has been doing the same thing since he can buy at 'regular' stores now. As far as clothes which no longer fit me goes, I've sold a few things but mostly have been donating. I am sure someone else can find good use out of them.

I am so sorry to hear you had to endure that. I hope everything goes better the second time around.

I am going through the same thing. I worry so much about ruining my surgery, and I'm only 4 months out. I need to start over, my habits have gotten bad. We can do this together! A great atmosphere for support with a healthier lifestyle is MyFitnessPal. I post on there as well, and the community is so positive and inspirational. I would highly recommend checking into it if you think it would benefit you! Best of luck!

BMI OF 31 AND 35 LB TO LOSE. IS IT WORTH IT?
anl1990 replied to nssmia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I personally do not think it is worth it at your size. You are already so close to your goal! I say just keep trying, and you can get there without having to go to such an extreme option. -
