  1. Hello 5th Buddies. I had my bypass on the 5th and things have been so surprisingly great. Got discharged immediately the next morning. Getting in the Water and Protein. Doing homemade broths and tolerating them. I have my first play op appointment tomorrow. Not even in pain which I am surprised by that. I have more knee pains than surgery pains from walking lol. Stay pumped everyone. The honeymoon is in full effect and let’s make the most out of it. I am sure they’re tougher days ahead but enjoy the ride.

  3. Today was a great post op day. I was able to get my walking in around 7000 steps. I got my Water and Protein in as well. Let’s just say I felt really good for just having my surgery Tuesday. And I even went to the dentist for a cleaning. My energy level is going great. I said that to say All my February buddies you got this and hopefully you feel the way I do.

I am weighing all of the positives versus all of the negatives while trying to make a final decision about surgery. I have been considering the gastric sleeve surgery for years, and am now closer to making decision than I have ever been . The referral has been made and I have scheduled my consultation. So far, just about everything I have researched has me leaning towards going for it except my fear that I won't be able to afford the expense of groceries in the future. Why are healthy foods so expensive? And the Protein and Vitamins expense is scary to think about. I have joint pain, apnea and high blood pressure as well as a rare disease and know that my future health would benefit from the surgery, but I'm so poor! Is bariatric surgery only a solution for people with more substantial finances? (I have insurance and some savings to help with surgery costs). And advice?

So here’s my take. I have all the big five boxes checked. And I am getting bypass done on the 5th. The ampuntnof money I spend on meds and doctor visits and other incidentals pale in comparison. You will you find that thing will balance out once you factor in all the other expenses. The food you eat will help off set cost. It can be done you will have to refocus on what’s important and that’s your health.

Hey my February surgery friends! I’m somehow surviving my liquid pre op diet. Today is Sunday and I’m down 10 pounds since Monday! I know the weight loss will be slower next week, but I really hope to get another 5 pounds off.

This is so exciting. I have completed 6 days of my Pre-op liquid diet. I am down 14 pounds. This has been a great start. I have been varying my shakes and meals with Bone Broth and Tomato Soup. The sugar free popsicles and Jello are great fillers. Not hungry or no hangry pains. I will say that you have to stay busy on the weekend. And I started walking during the week after work to develop my exercise plan. February 5th is just around the corner.

This is so exciting. I have my date for Feb 5th and I am getting myself prepared. I have my gym membership going and I am actually going. I am getting my routine down so that when I have those 2 weeks post-op I can really make the most out of them

When do you start your pre op diet?

I started today so it’s day 2 now

First I wish I was reading this site before not after. I would have not stock up on any vitamin's before because now I hate them all. My taste bud has changed so much. I ended up doing the Patch MD. Give yourself time to heal and do not rush to move to the next step. Warm tea and Soup was and still is my go to comfort for my stomach. Best of luck.

this has a wealth of information on it this site. Glad I found it!

  8. This is my first post! So I am having Gastric on the 5th. I have been reading and digesting (no pun intended) as much information as I can. I tried the chewable Flintstone Vitamin for the first time today and wow I just remember how bad they taste. Has anyone tried something different. I wonder if homothetic liquid vitamins would work better.

if there was one thing you would advise me to do before surgery what would it be. I have friends telling me I should eat my last meal that I really love so that I won't crave it afterwards but that's what Kinda got me in this the position I am in now. Did anyone do that before they started their liquid diet.
