  1. Wow you look amazing! That's an incredible weight loss. I hope I will be able to earn my trip that I tell myself I get after loosing 100lbs. Although I don't think I'll look as good in a swimsuit😩

    Sick for endoscopy?

As long as you can breathe through your nose or don't have any respiratory issues you should be fine. Although I would still call and ask them about it just in case.
  3. I highly recommend BriatricPsychEvaluations.com. They were very friendly and will do a phone interview. The cost for the evaluation was $150 if your insurance doesn't cover it. This was who my Dr. recommended. I did the online questionnaire on a Wednesday and the phone interview two days later on Friday. Hope this helps.
  4. Thank you for your responses. I knew what I have been experiencing since the weight gain was real. I definitely relate to people almost looking through you or being invisible. You guys nailed it. Also I feel like they think because I'm obese that I'm "lower class". It's sad that being obese not only comes with aches and pains but "silent fat shaming" . As far as the sabotaging I've also seen that first hand from some, women mostly, when there friends were trying to diet. They would bring doughnuts, candy, pizza whatever it took and practically beg there "friends" to eat it. It's definitely their insecurities.
  5. I didn't start gaining a lot of weight until I was about 40. I'm now 49. I was pretty fit until then. Through the years as the weight piled on I realized people started treating me differently. They weren't as friendly as they were when I was thin. It wasn't my friends or family but the public. I was wondering if any of you who have lost a bit of weight can tell a difference in the way people treat you now.
  6. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Some people have no boundaries. Keep your chin up and try not to worry about the foolish and what they are saying.
  7. I'm telling EVERYBODY about my weight loss surgery. I know everyone has to make their own decision but here's the reasons I came to mine. First off it seems like it will be so much easier to tell the whole truth. Second- I want to help other people in my everyday life understand how much this surgery can help someone instead of having it stigmatized. Third- EVERYONE already knows. Believe me. Any time I was at work, when someone had a weight loss procedure done and didn't tell anyone or claimed they were working out and eating, right, after they left the room people would say, " Why don't he/she just tell the truth?" "It's obvious he/she had surgery ". People are not stupid. Especially ones you've worked with for years. Is it anybody's business? NO! Not at all. That's why I absolutely agree and see why some choose not to tell. It's your own business so you have every right to keep it to yourself. This is just my decision.
  8. My daughter-in-law has had constipation problems for years. She has even had to go to the emergency room in the past. She is pregnant with her second child and her obstetrician just recommended good old milk of magnesia and she said it works wonders.

    💟 15 Months Post OP 💟

You look amazing! I don't know if you realize how much of an inspiration you are to so many people not just with your weight loss but the time you give of yourself to help others. Wether it's a kind comment or advise to somebody who needs it , you always seem to be there for everyone. Congrats on earning that XS!

    Scared of Manometry

I know me too! The potato chip bag clip on the back of the neck to hold everything tight is gonna hurt after wearing it all day!

    Scared of Manometry

I might try the laser treatments after surgery and weight loss. Hopefully it’ll help with the wrinkles that are sure to come my way too :)

    Scared of Manometry

Yes I do have rosacea but it's not too bad. Just a little on my cheeks. I didn't get it until I was about 45 and really started gaining a lot of weight. I wonder if it will get better after I loose some of it? Fingers crossed.

    Scared of Manometry

Thanks for helping me mentally prepare for this. If I know what to expect I think I'll do fine. And I think you're right about being a redhead and sedation. I have brownish red hair do to the Irish in me and I woke up in the middle of my colonoscopy too!

    Scared of Manometry

That's a relief. Thank you. At least I now know what to expect from someone who's been through it. With my EGD they told me they were going to sedate me then do the procedure but I ended up waking in the middle of the procedure with this huge tube down my throat retching uncontrollably. It hurt so bad I tried to rip it out until one of the nurses told me to breathe through my nose and I finally got myself together and calmed down. I just don't want to go in there expecting it's going to be a breeze then finding out otherwise. I'd rather be prepared for it this time.

    I know it's nobody's business BUT

You've done amazing on your weight loss journey and it's obvious that keeping unsuportive people out of your weight loss journey has worked for you. You are truly an inspiration!

    I know it's nobody's business BUT

Kids, ya gotta love them. I have two of my own so I can relate to the shock you feel when they blurt out something like that...LOL.

    I know it's nobody's business BUT

Good for you! I'm also a private person. I don't even have a Facebook account. But the stress of worrying about who I've told or not told and who they've told or not told (because they will tell) would be too much. That's great you've started a YouTube channel! Not only are you helping yourself you're helping many others that are going through this process of being our healthiest selves.

Just letting my non-surgery related frustration out

You can also politely tell her that you are taking direction from the director and if she has any problems with his directing that she'll have to confront him about it. Then it's between him and her.
  19. I was so nervous about my psych interview also. I overthought and stressed about it because everyone had such different experiences with them that I didn't know what to expect. I can only tell you my experience was great. After doing an online questionnaire I was scheduled for a phone interview which consisted of questions about any history of depression, suicidal thoughts, why I wanted the surgery (for my health and mobility) if I was married or had any children and does my family support my decision for weight loss surgery. It felt like I was talking to one of my friends. Just be yourself and you'll be fine!
  20. So I've never been Becky with the good hair. I've even tried Rogaine for women a few years ago. I know after surgery my fine thin hair is going to get thinner. I did some research on hair toppers then off to the salon I went yesterday. I tried on a topper and it looked AMAZING! My hair looked so full and healthy and it blended in with my own hair perfectly. I wish I would have done this years ago! Sadly I had to order it and it won't come for a week or two. But for anyone who is stressing over hair loss I highly recommend looking into one.
  21. Here's a great link about toppers. Hope this helps.
  22. Just googled it and it's definitely something I'll try. I can't believe it's been done for hundreds of years. Thank you!
  23. That’s interesting. That’s probably the only thing I haven’t tried yet. I I’ll look into it. Thanks!
  24. Wow you were very young. I was also told to eat more fiber and watch trigger foods. The horrible part about trigger foods is that it’s the foods that are good for us i.e. fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts etc.
  25. I didn’t get it until I was about 34. It affected me greatly because of my job. I couldn’t just take a bathroom break whenever I needed so I suffered great pains during the shift and like you, I couldn’t eat until I got home which three times a week would be after a 16 hour shift. I ultimately ended up taking an early retirement.
