And we will be looking for an update from you when it does occur. Get everything in working order, you're entering the final preliminaries, the last month- 6 weeks go pretty fast. Start making a list, how will you be setting up things for your immediate post-surgery, do you have family members you need to make sure they are taken care off? How about any pets? Do you want your hair trimmed up? All these piddly things need care of, do you have a tote packed for the hospital, I must have packed and unpacked 6 times. I would hear on Bariatric Pal what others found useful. so I would add that, someone said I didn't use X item, and I would pull it out. And some things I still didn't use at all. Who do you want to call, who do you want to tell, and if you had some of my kinfolk, who would you not tell anything to even if they held a gun to your head? And please believe , the surgery is far easier than you thought it would be. If you have a good surgeon, that's half the battle right there!

First comment ever!! I met my surgeon on Jan 18th and did my Dietician appt and Psych Evaluation this week. They will submit for insurance approval either tomorrow or Monday. I was told surgery would happen no later than the end of March. I already have my endoscopy and stress test scheduled.
I have BCBSTX and my insurance only requires one appt with the Dietician and a Psych Evaluation.

My first consult was in August 2018 and I had gastric bypass surgery in December 2018, but… I had started the process 2 years prior but dropped out of the program due to family medical issues. I came prepared for my second round and had letters regarding my weight and BMI from my PCP for each of the last five years along with a letter recommending the surgery. Also had a year's worth of WW payments printed out. My program admin was amazing and gave me all the possible things I would need to get approved before I even had an EKG. She was amazing.
I had insurance through BCBS at the time and pushed to get my surgery before the end of 2018 as my insurance changed to United and wls would no longer be covered. Seriously I can't figure it out… why wouldn't an insurance company just pay for the surgery rather than paying for all the prescriptions and medical conditions needing treatment because of obesity? Surely it's cheaper for them in the long run to just pay for wls, right?

    Good morning everyone!
I had a super weird dream last night and I couldn't wait to get to work so I can tell you all about it. It's a long one.
I hope to get VSG during spring break. I am freaking out about every detail because I've never had to stay in a hospital before.
    So here goes...
The dream started out with a call from the hospital. They called me and told me to come in immediately for my surgery. I was confused because I thought my surgery would be happening at a later date. I told the woman on the phone that and she hit me with "Do you want the surgery or not?" So I'm like, "Yeah. I'm on my way." So my boyfriend and I get to the hospital and I'm so freaked out. I noticed that we did not pack a hospital bag and I was upset because I didn't have lip balm. (A lot of you guys say lip balm is a life saver after surgery.) So I was upset. My boyfriend offers me his lip balm but I'm still upset. So then, a doctor comes and separates us. The hospital staff puts me on a table and numbs an area on my stomach. In my mind I'm like, "So this is it. Here I go." So only a small part of my stomach is numb and the surgeon is like "Okay WeGettingThere, I'm gonna do an incision." He cuts a little and he leaves me like that. I'm not bleeding or anything. There's just this small gash in my belly. The surgeon is like "My assistant will finish this." HE LEAVES ME. The assistant doesn't do anything! She shows me to my recovery room and my boyfriend is there waiting for me. I'm like "Excuse me. I don't think I'm supposed to be left like this." AGAIN, I'M NOT BLEEDING. The assistant says I'm fine and to relax while she sits at the foot of my recovery bed and watches Maury or Jerry Springer. I forget. END OF DREAM.
So that was my dream. What do you all think? Did you guys have dreams about your procedures? Share them!

Holy shit. It’s an app they offer for free on a site that offers membership for free. You didn’t pay for it. It doesn’t owe you anything.

That said, the mobile app is a bit buggy. I eventually logged into the desktop site and put in my info.

Also- if you viewed the source code to see what was causing the value limits on the input, didn’t you have to do this on a desktop or laptop? So you were on a desktop anyways.
And if you were on a desktop, why not just alter the code that’s being processed client side so it accepts the value you’d like it to?

And my insurances- United Healthcare- Medicare- and Ohio Medicaid, no shame- no blame- that's just the way it is.

Most definitely. I have Medicaid. It's a super common, super free insurance. So I'm like "Oh yeah, they are going to make this hard for us."

I constantly drempt they had canceled my surgery and it was for varied reasons. One that stocked in my mind was my surgeon had a Migraine headache and asked if he could have an intern do my surgery? I guess I wasn't worthy of a surgical resident. Another was it was Autumn Commencement and he decided he'd rather attend it. FYI my actual surgery was smooth, uneventful and Dr Needleman did do it. I can't say enough nice things about him, tableside, operations or follow-up, he does not shirk anything! He could give department lessons to several others of my Medical Stable, including the one I go to see today, my PCP.

Looks like my surgery is going to be late March. I submitted an application to the clinic on Dec 18th just to see if they'd accept me into the bariatric program. 4 weeks they did. The next day I saw the surgeon for my first visit. The very next day I had my psych eval. Today (a week after the psych eval) I go to review the psych eval results. Next I have a dietary visit and an exercise therapist visit. Then 2 weeks later I follow up with them then they submit to ins. Voila!

Mine was 6 mos, but that was because I was slacking with the pre-op weight loss. I have Cigna. Once I hit the pre-op weight loss and other requirements, my surgery was scheduled within a couple of weeks. I have Cigna.

I went to my WLS seminar in May and at that time was given a June 4 appointment with the surgeon. The day after the seminar I called the office and scheduled all my required visits, 3 medically supervised diet appts, psyche eval dietician eval, Upper GI, cardiac clearance (took 3 visits with the cardiologist for stress test, EKG) etc. I was finished with everything in mid Aug but had to wait until Oct 9 for surgery due to surgeon's busy schedule and 2 week vacation! I lost 26 lbs in that time.

I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
My first surgeon appointment was 11/14/19 and my surgery is scheduled for 1/23/19. Insurance requires 6 months medically supervised weight loss. I had been seeing my primary doctor about my weight for over a year and the insurance accepted 4 months from my primary Dr (internal medicine doctor) and 2 months with a nutritionist.

I was self-pay, so three weeks. I have insurance, but it was going to be a minimum of six months and I knew in advance that I’d probably fail on the weight loss requirements for each month. So I sacrificed and dug deep for $17000. I’d do it all over again. I’ve lost over 120lbs since having surgery on 02/14/2018.
