Well I am shocked! My Dr, Dr. Mumford from Mississauga Ontario just called to see how I was holding out and if I had any questions before the big day on Thurday. He also wanted me to know he had sent in the insurance papers for what litttle coverage I have. Gee, I am really impressed!

I am second guessing too. Wondering if this will just be another failure ( an expensive one!). I have to believe that I will beat this. 4 more sleeps

Oh I am having such a hard time too... I jsut had a big bowl of ceral when I am only suppose to have optifast. I feel so guilty. I am making cookies right now for my sons.. or so I am telling myself. I feel so ashamed that I can not even follow a plan for two weeks and I worry I have failed before I have even started. Here come the tears .....

I am having tea and coffee - quite a few cups a day which is fine with my doc. When I called to tell them how hungry I was they told me to have some lean chicky. Maybe your will let you do the same? Good luck - I feel your hunger!

Great idea!!! It is often hard for me to get a perspetive on my weight/size because I am tall. I am 5' 11" and 254 ( not yet banded). I wear a size 22 jeans ( tight- refuse to buy bigger as my weight has gone up, but hey they will soon be loose, right:), 44DD ( had to do twisty pretzel thing to look at tag). I wear a 3-4x as well in tops etc. I remember being a size 14 thinking that was too much. I will be so pleased to get down to that size ( and maybe more).

Oh it has just been evil this Optifast stuff. It is so yucky! I majorly cheated yesterday but I am back on the wagon today. I called the doc and they said not to beat myself up too much, but to remember my day is coming up fast! My pre op was with my family doctor. She has never known anyone who had lap band surgery. She just checked my neck, tummy, urine, blood work, bp throat etc. I think they put the iv in after you are asleep, or at least in all my other surgeries they did. I hate needles, but the one time I had an IV while awake ( giving birth) it was not a big deal. Just focus on the ceiling tiles!!

Oh ya, they are pretty sure I have it. I was in a car accident a few years ago and have chronic myofascial pain syndrome and some say they go together. I too was on a sleeping pill, but then got off it. Those two weeks were rough. Now I do a lot better. You know what really works for me? Massage. I go for three hours a week and I have a "thumper" - it is a hand held massager- works wonders. Gets rid of the bugs on my legs feelings

Hello Cloe :eek: I am being banded by Dr. Mumford ( co-worker of Dr. Couburn) on March 9, 2006. I am very excited. I am on the liquid Optifast diet fro two weeks before the surgery. It is not that fun, but I just keep counting down the days. I think this supposrt group is very informative, and I would just read read read!! Good luck to you!

Oh, I am having a pitty me day. I have been on Optifast for four days now and I am so hungry. My doc, Dr. Mumford (Ontario) has you on optifast for two weeks before the surgery. You are only allowed one serving of non-root veggies a day with the optifast. I am starting to think I should cancel this surgery! How will I make it until March 9??? I have noticed such differences in what to eat before surgery on this board. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for me. All I can smell is the spagetti supper my family is eating upstairs.... oh, and I dream of pizza:hungry:

Thanks! Slow is just fine, but if I only lose 10 lbs or *gasp* gain weight I will be very upset. I have lost six pounds on two days of liquid diet (pre op) so maybe that will show me that I can do this!!! Ya!

Ok, the Doc has me worried. 25% don't do well, or don't drop much weight?? Am I ready to gamble $15, 000 on that ( cause if you told me I had a 25% of losing my money on the slots, I would not gamble, that is just me- 5% chance, ok, that is acceptable.) I have my op in less than two weeks and I am starving on the optifast stuff!!! Do we have anyone on this site that can tell me if they were one of the 25%, and if so what they think may be the reason they did not do so well??:think

Just to let everyone know that I started the Opti fast today. Hmmm, not a big fan of it, but I added strawberries and only gagged twice:) But hey, I can do this...right:)

I agree- I went to my doc yesterday and she gave me a script for effexor 2x a day and I can crush it

I am so sorry for your loss... my mom died three months ago of leukemia at the young age of 55. I know it may seem like it will never get better but it does- time heals, a little at a time. You are grieving, and you are showing your emotions by eating instead of crying, and neither is wrong. Give yourself time and know that you will get back on track. Do not beat yourself up and in time things will get better. I promise. Prayers for you and your mom.

I hear you, on some many things. I feel that some of my life has passed me by too, and that is why I will not regret one more day of being fat and not liking myself. Do this for you and know you will be stronger and healthier for it.

I hear the funeral song in my mind- just finished my "last supper" complete with not one, but two cadbury's easter creame eggs... soooo good. Tomorrow it is Optifast. God help me!

Murphles, I love the part about looking pathetic - I had a laugh and thought "me too!". Just went for my pre op today with my family doctor. She has never known anyone who has had this done, so she is interested to see the results. No presure eh? Today is the last day ( of my life, I fear) that I will eat "normal" (which we all know is not normal, I suppose). My last supper will be chicken parmesan and a Cadbury's Easter Creame Egg tonight. Anyone else have ideas for thei last supper ??hahah

Thank you for explaining in "easy" terms why I need to be on such a low cal diet for two weeks. That makes sense!
