    Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

I also can eat pretty much anything with my band. I do have some food intolerance. I cannot eat popcorn for the life of me. Terrible stomach cramping pain. Same thing with fruit skin. It's weird. The band has been a tough learning curve for me. Before I got it, I think part of me also thought it would just cut the weight off me with minimal work on my end. I guess we all wish that was the case. I'm probably not tight enough yet but I just got some sudden restriction last month and it's been hard to learn to CHEW, stop, then think if I need that next bite. I guess we all learn with time. I go back to the doctor on the 10th of September. I'm hoping I can be 190 by then. I definitely need to get back to exercising. It's hard though cause I work 12 hour shifts and there's no way I'm getting up earlier than 4:45 am LOL I'm gonna push myself to get some activity in on my days off I don't have trouble eating all my points but my band isn't really tight either. If you're having trouble consuming all your points, add some healthy calories in there. Like a cup of skim milk in between meals- that's 3 points right there. A tablespoon of Peanut Butter or maybe 2% cheese instead of fat free. They really encourage you to eat all your points so you don't burn out your metabolism.

    Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

Hi ladies!! I was so excited to find this thread. This is my 2nd week doing WW online. I get 25 points per day. I love it! I've lost a pound each week. I have been stalled for a month so this is progress for me. I was feeling pretty terrible as I feel I am such a sloooow loser. I'm sure some of that is my fault. I eat fairly healthy but unlike alot of people on these boards, I cannot allow myself to just eat until I'm satisfied. I will overeat that way. I have to make myself accountable by tracking points. For instance, I have to have my coffee in the morning. I like a lot of cream in my coffee so I would just dump the fat free crap in. Well, that stuff adds up. Now I allow myself 2 Tbsp of half and half and just count the 2 points I don't like my band to be super tight. I hate that tight feeling in my chest when I eat. So for me, I would rather count points than get my band tightened so I can't eat normal food. Glad to see others out there doing WW. I will be sure to check in. My weigh in day is Mondays!

    Me before the 5k started

YAY!! You look GREAT! Such a difference from your before pics =)
  6. It went good! When he walked in the room he was like "Didn't I just see you?" I LMAO. I tried to get another 1 cc but he would only do 0.8 cc. It feels pretty good. My portions have been smaller for sure. I haven't PB'd, slimed, or anything so I know I'm not tight yet. I have an appt in September but he said to come back before that if I feel I need it. He kept telling me that I'm just an overacheiver. *LOL* He said you're already at 40% weight loss at less than 6 months. What do you want?? LOL

BTW, I told him about you and I and lapbandtalk. He said we better stop conspiring before our fills HAHAHA

    I'm down 2 pounds since Tuesday =)

    Sound familiar?

I'm sorry to hear that this happened but I'm gonna let you in on a little secret...Nurses are people just like everybody else. There are going to be nice ones, mean ones, ugly ones, pretty ones, smart ones, dumb ones, etc. You get my drift. Just being a nurse doesn't suddenly make you this awesome giving angel of mercy. I kind of hate when people think that nurses should be without fault (you didn't say this, another poster hinted at that mentality). Next time, I would say something. You will have to stand up for yourself as a nurse. Trust me. Doctors and even other nurses will try you in front of other people and you have to speak up for yourself, or they think it's ok to treat you poorly. I think good nurses have to have a little bit of a thick skin to handle the stress that comes with the job. Good luck to you in nursing school and beyond graduation!
  8. Have you read J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series? It's awesome! I hope they eventually make them into movies. I haven't read Twilight yet but I think I might. I saw the movie and I actually really liked it.

See, I've never PB'd or slimed. I do sometimes get some pressure in my chest if I eat too fast or take to big a bite though. I don't stay full for 4 hours like they say, even when I have solid protein. I got a fill today so I'm at 7.3 cc. I hope this one does the trick.

I'm what I call an inconsistent exerciser. I will do it 4 times one week and then none the next, then 2 times the week after that. I know I need to be better about it. I'm hoping to be 185 by my b-day so here's hoping!!

  9. I still don't understand why you wouldn't submit to insurance and see if they deny you first. I had a lower BMI than you, am younger, no comorbidities and I was approved a week and a half after submitting the paperwork. Do your part with the paperwork and see what insurance says then go from there.

    Single Incision procedure

How many times has your particular surgeon done the single incision procedure? I would definitely find this out. I won't be a guinea pig for anyone. I personally feel like the doctor's need adequate room to work and place the band correctly, which means more incisions. I hope they study those that get the single incision so we can see if they have more slips down the line. Correct placement of the band is vital to its success.
  11. I love what you said here. I actually got a little frog in my throat reading it. I'm such a sentimental wimp!

    July 4th Challenge - 120 days

Sadly, I did not make my goal. I started this challenge shortly after being banded and I thought I would lose weight much faster than I am. *LOL* 11 pounds short! Hope everyone else came out better than I did!

    Post partum bellies!!!!

Jachut, your stomach looks beautiful! Not in my wildest dreams would mine look like that. And I know my opinion means nothing, but I don't think it's worth the hassle of a tummy tuck. Yours looks so good already. To the OP: unfortunately, c-sections by their nature give you a little apron, then add to that being overweight stretching the skin, then losing. It's just not a good combination. I know my stomach will never look fantastic. I will never be able to wear a bikini and I'm ok with that. You can always look into a tummy tuck if things aren't how you'd like them when you reach goal. I'm just way to scared to get one. The scar, plus the pain is enough for me to stay away from it. Good luck! I hope your skin bounces back on its own.

    bypass versus lap band

Hi there! I wish you luck with your decision but I wanted to clear something up that you said and alot of people tend to believe before they are banded. You do not typically have this magical restriction right after being banded. Once the swelling from surgery goes down, you are pretty much in the same boat you were before surgery. You have to go through the process of fills, which can take a long time before you are satisfied off small portions. I'm almost 6 months out with 6.5cc in my band and I still don't have restriction. For instance, you bring up pizza. It's my favorite food too:tt1: I can still eat 2 pieces of hand tossed Pizza Hut and 2 bread sticks if I let myself. That's ALOT of calories. I've basically had to diet myself to a 50 pound loss. It's extrememly frustrating and even though they warn you it's slow, when you're not dropping the pounds you can't help but feel disappointed. Of course, you're being male is going to work in your favor. The band is good as long as you realize you have to bust your butt for every pound. If you are prepared to do that, go for it :smile2:
  15. OMG, don't even get me started on True Blood. I'm so obsessed with it. My husband is annoyed with my vampire obsession *LOL* I haven't read Charlaine's books. I don't know if I will. I'm an avid reader but I've heard hers are written in first person which I don't usually dig and I know it's much different from the series. Did you read them?

You made my day with your comment because I feel I am such a SLOW loser. I'm at 6.5 cc and still don't have restriction. It's frustrating. Especially, for us "smaller" gals. It takes so much more saline in the band to do it for us and my doc is pretty conservative. *SIGH* You're doing awesome though!!!

  16. HAHA Thanks for the comment girly! I hate that picture. I feel like I still look HUGE! My husband says I'm being crazy.

I have 2 kiddos, both girls. One is 6 and the other just turned 2 a couple of weeks ago. They're wild and a handful *LOL*

I live off of Olive on Palafox side, so maybe we could walk on the nights you are this way. I would love to have a partner. Hey, is your 5 k tomorrow?!?! I know you're gonna do great. You are totally kicking my ass in the weight loss department!

How's that fill going? I think they're a little nuts when it comes to the post fill diet. I do not follow that 2, 2, 2 thing. It's nuts to me. I do liquids the day of the fill, then something light the next day like yogurt, protein shake, soup. Then back to regular diet after that.

My fill is on Tuesday! I'm just praying this will be my sweet spot and the weight will start coming off easier. I'm gonna try to coax him into another 1 cc. hehe

    Your opinion, please

Yep, Jachut is right. We are all different. We have varying amounts of fat around our stomachs, some people swell alot, some don't. There's just lots of things to consider. I, myself, have 6.5 cc and I don't feel restricted. This last fill I got 1 cc and for a couple of days I felt something, but then it quickly went away. I've also never Pb'd, slimed, or gotten stuck. I can actually eat in a fairly normal matter. I know I'm probably just going to take more fill than other people to get to the "sweet" spot. This is a process and I know we all want it to go quickly. Heck, I am guilty of that myself but we have to remember that this is how the band was intended to work. Slow fills over time = restriction.
  20. What side of town do you live on? Maybe we could meet at one of the tracks. I'm close to Ferry Pass Middle. There are always people out there walking. I just hate going alone. Or we could even go to PJC. Let me know!

  21. That's so good. I went running with my baby in the stroller today. OMG, it was so darn hot but I'm glad I got back in the swing of exercising. I had been so lazy. I plan on going at least 4 times a week. Hoping to be 185 by August. Woohoo!

    What is....

1). I cannot handle popcorn. I tried it twice since being banded, thinking maybe it was a fluke the first time I got sick. NOPE. I've never PB'd. gotten stuck, or slimed but my body just has trouble digesting certain foods. Popcorn is one. I had stomach cramps for hours afterward. So, I've made peace with Popcorn. Goodbye old friend. 2) I have this thing for Hot Tamales. So, sometimes I'll get a box and have my husband ration 5 out to me per day. 3) Definitely mozzarella string cheese. I just love it! 4) As far as favorite recipes, I like to make roaster chickens so I can use the leftover chicken for salads during the week. I put my chicken in an oven bag with carrots, onions, celery. I put salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, and a little honey on the chicken. Add a little chicken stock to the bag then I put in the oven for 1-1/2 hr depending on the size of the chicken. Comes out moist and yummy:smile2:
  23. OMG, 6am! I don't think I could be there that early *LOL* That's my biggest problem is getting up early. I just can't. Heck, I'm late to work at least twice weekly! HAHA

I don't think I'll be able to swing it financially right now. I'm going on vacation in 3 weeks and then I have a nursing conference in September in MN, that's over $2K. Maybe I'll be able to run one in the Fall. It will be cooler then too!! You have to take pictures and let me know how you do though. I'll be cheering you on =)

  24. Did I tell you I called and scheduled another fill? It's awesome cause now they're just letting me call and come in. It's July 7th! Woohoo! How are things going? I took a full length pic just gotta get my slow husband to send it to me =p
