I'm still in the appeals process. I've called my appeals person twice and yet to get a call back. I'm making very small payments on the bills so they dont go to collections while the appeal is taking place. I was told by one person it was approved and by another that it is still under investigation so still no answers. They have until the 16th to make a decision I am told.

I had my surgery on 3/12/19. I watched my insurance carefully because I'm slightly obsessive about numbers. I had called my insurance several times prior to surgery and was told once I met my out of pocket I was fully covered. Out of pocket was met in January. April I start getting bills. I call the insurance company who keeps patching me through to a company called accolade who says I am fully covered and they don't know why the drs office is saying I owe coinsurance. They will send a note to the insurance company. I have called the drs offices and the insurance company and accolade weekly since April about these bills and started making $10-20 payments so I don't get sent to collection. I just get a call today from Accolade who tells me it's not medically necessary and I owe 30%. I said that is not what I was told the numerous times I called. So they sent me to the insurance company to file an appeal. They are going to pull transcripts of my phone calls and hopefully they will pay the balance of the bill. I owe over $7000 for a surgery that I had because I was told it was 100% covered. And the $7000 is for OUTPATIENT. I work two jobs and am a single mother. I don't have $7000. Anyone have any experience with this?

Nope. When I showed up at surgery I was even told I owe nothing. Everyone told me I was covered. Insurance. Accolade. Drs. Then I started getting bills a month later.

I get Bariatric Choice with Iron off Amazon. They cover all the bases except calcium citrate. THey are about $15 a month. Calcium citrate I am still looking for a good one. I tried BariMelts and ewww.. I was taking a pill but was told that I want a chewable or melt. Still trying to find something I like.

3/12 here. Doing great. Just started eating black bean Soup and yogurt and Protein Drinks yesterday after 3 days Clear Liquids. I have no pain most of the time. I’m able to do laundry. I get tired easy. I take a few naps now and then. How are you?

I weighed in at 278 at my preop about 3 weeks ago. My scale had me at 256 (surgery had me at 260) 3/12. My scale has me at 253 today. I’m waiting impatiently for 249. I start full liquids tomorrow. Can start getting in some Protein and off just Powerade and Gatorade.

Surgery went well. I have very little pain. No nausea. I had a problem coming out of anesthesia but I was told I might have a autoimmune disorder I have to go for testing 3/25 with my dr. But as for the surgery everything went great and I feel great. Went shopping today for a birthday party I have this weekend.

Heading to bed. Surgery in the am. Got to be out the door just before 5. Check in at 530. Surgery at 730. I should be discharged about 6 and hopefully in bed at my mothers by 630. Lol. Good luck to all my surgery twins. Keep me updated.

I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I was told I’m the first surgery. I haven’t gotten confirmation but it looks like 730 surgery. Have to be at the surgery center at 530. They will call me tomorrow to confirm. My poor mother has to get up at butt crack of dawn to take me. But I should be back at my mothers by 6 pm. I’m staying there the first night then I’ll go home.

I know what you mean. I’m on day 6 and down 11. It can’t stay at this rate but I am hoping for 265 to 260 by surgery. Im at 267.2 now. It was really hard days 4-5. Today I seem ok. We will see how it goes.

Congrats to you March Sleevers- I start my 2 week preop diet tomorrow. Surgery is March 12. I've got everything bagged and ready and a shaker bottle, chicken broth and sugar free Jello. I hope I'm as mentally ready as I am physically ready. We've got this.

I’m March 12! I’ll have a 2 week liquid diet and nutrition has me on a diet of 1400 calories and 80 grams Protein.

I was lucky. They scheduled (or so I thought) all of my appointments at my consultation but each doctor then added to the appointments. I ended up with 2-3 a week for the entire month of January and into February. Now the only thing on my list is my nutrition and my pre-op on 2/20. Surgery is scheduled 3/12 and until I get insurance approval I'm going to be a hot mess. My insurance company said that they don't have any requirements but I'm right on the cusp of 40 bmi going into 39 and I only have high blood pressure. (no apnea, good cholestrol, no diabetes although I am prediabetic according to my primary).. fingers crossed. It's funny.. the only thing I have to have control over is my schedule and my money. .. anything else, I'm very go with the flow.

I haven't had a delay... yet.. but I have the same feeling. So far I've had to go to a lot of drs. 1. pulmonology (who then sent me for a sleep apnea test which came back negative) I was told I was cleared but I don't know if they have gotten clearance yet. 2. cardiology. I have high blood pressure. I then got sent for an echocardiogram and a stress test. Both came back normal. I was told I was cleared but I don't know if they have gotten the clearance letter yet. I go to my 3rd nutrition appointment on 2/11. I'm hoping I'm cleared then. I haven't been told to lose any weight. I have lost a few pounds but not much. I had to get a clearance from my primary dr. I was told that went over last week. I'm slightly obsessive and like to check boxes so not being able to get verification of things is driving me crazy.

It's been a busy week. I had my endoscopy yesterday and waiting to hear results on that.. the hardest part of the endoscopy was drinking this really thick solution they give you to numb your throat. They say swish and swallow.. I drink it down and TRY to swish.. NOTHING! There was no swishing that was gonna happen.. so I look at them and they see me start to gag and tell me swallow fast. I did then they take me back.. an hour later I wake up and am singing along to the country music they have on and there's a real cute nurse.. If only I had already lost weight and didn't look a hot mess! Man he was cute.. probably too young anyway. He couldn't have been more than 38. I've got a good 5 years on him and no time to date. Oh well. LOL I enjoyed my day off and lounging in bed half asleep and not having to work for a change. Back to it today and working both jobs til midnight. I hope the weather this weekend isn't going to be as bad as they say it is. I work 1-930 Sat and Sun and I don't have groceries to take into work for lunch/dinner. Next week I hit the ground running again. I have to leave my day job at 4 to get to the sleep study place to pick up the machine before job 2. I hope it's not hard to set up. Tuesday I have to get up early. My son has his med check at the psychiatrist. Wednesday I turn in the machine before work then work both jobs. Thursday I have a quiet day and Friday I have the echo before work then work the second job. The following week isnt too bad. The only dr appointment I have is the stress test. It will almost be like a vacation! Then I have 2 appointments the following week and 3 the week after.. then maybe I'll have some news! Fingers crossed.
