Getting a sleeve done... start to finish

It's been a busy week. I had my endoscopy yesterday and waiting to hear results on that.. the hardest part of the endoscopy was drinking this really thick solution they give you to numb your throat. They say swish and swallow.. I drink it down and TRY to swish.. NOTHING! There was no swishing that was gonna happen.. so I look at them and they see me start to gag and tell me swallow fast. I did then they take me back.. an hour later I wake up and am singing along to the country music they have on and there's a real cute nurse.. If only I had already lost weight and didn't look a hot mess! Man he was cute.. probably too young anyway. He couldn't have been more than 38. I've got a good 5 years on him and no time to date. Oh well. LOL I enjoyed my day off and lounging in bed half asleep and not having to work for a change. Back to it today and working both jobs til midnight. I hope the weather this weekend isn't going to be as bad as they say it is. I work 1-930 Sat and Sun and I don't have groceries to take into work for lunch/dinner. Next week I hit the ground running again. I have to leave my day job at 4 to get to the sleep study place to pick up the machine before job 2. I hope it's not hard to set up. Tuesday I have to get up early. My son has his med check at the psychiatrist. Wednesday I turn in the machine before work then work both jobs. Thursday I have a quiet day and Friday I have the echo before work then work the second job. The following week isnt too bad. The only dr appointment I have is the stress test. It will almost be like a vacation! Then I have 2 appointments the following week and 3 the week after.. then maybe I'll have some news! Fingers crossed.
  2. My consult went well.. they made all my appointments and I am due to go back for my second appointment 2/14. I went to pulmonology. PFT was good. I just dont take deep breaths.. so now I have to go for a sleep study (should be at home thankfully) even though my numbers are in range. I was told I'll be cleared no matter the result of the sleep study. I just may need to go on a sleep apnea machine until surgery. I went to Nutrition last week.. then again this week. Nutrition yesterday said she isn't going to count last week because I didn't get all my information from the first lady so I need a 4th nutrition which will end up happening after my 2nd appointment. Great. Looks like surgery won't be scheduled for the beginning of March now after all I'm assuming. I went to cardiology today. EKG looked great but my father has a history of heart problems. He's 450 pounds, chain smokes, and was exposed to agent orange, has diabetes and any other health condition you can think of.. but because he does, I need to go for a stress test and an echocardiogram. Luckily those will both be done by early February before my appointment. What's funny is the appointment that I stressed about the most, psych (because I'm bipolar) was 30 minutes and they sent me away saying cleared. I wonder what will happen at the endoscopy on Thursday. My son has Eosinophilic Esophagitis. I haven't been told I have any issues with food or reflux or anything so hopefully that will be clear and I'll just continue on. What do you think will happen next? I'm getting tired of these appointments. I've had 2-3 a week for the past 3 weeks and there's no end in sight. My friend using a different hospital has not had to have any of these appointments. No pulmonology.. no cardiology.. 3 nutrition, 3 life skills, endoscopy, done.
  3. I just don't understand why I get told.. your PFT is good.. but because of your weight you don't breath deep.. do a sleep study. I almost expected that and I was ok with it. I do that next week. I don't get why if my EKG was good because my father at 65 had a heart attack at 450 pounds and I'm 275 and 41 I have to do a stress test and echocardiogram. I get that there is a family history but it's different circumstances and my test came back good. But even still it will all be done before my 2/14 appointment. And I don't get why they want to add on a 4th nutrition. I'm staying in my goals and I'm at or under my calories. That's going to push me back potentially. I was hoping to get the ok to start getting the approvals done at my 2/14 appointment. I've been cleared by psych and my pulmonologist said he would clear me no matter what the sleep study says. The cardiologist said everything looks good too. So why the extra?
  4. My first appointment was 12/10. They scheduled everything to be done 2/14. I expected a lot of appointments .. but the 4th nutrition appoinment is really throwing my schedule off. I was hoping to be submitting 2/14 and now they probably won't submit til after March. I'm hoping they will submit and schedule anyway. I need to call them to see if they have a patient coordinator. I haven't been able to get past the front desk yet though. Thanks guys!
  5. Psych is done. Can I do this please? Lol. My insurance is good til 4/30. I’m stressing. I want to be recovering in April please.
  6. Lol. There better be no surprises. I do have to do a 2 week diet too. Their food. $224 based on my BMI.

Getting a sleeve done... start to finish

I went back to my second nutrition appointment yesterday and asked a bunch of questions. I was told I can lose weight which is opposite of what the front desk at my drs office told me. So I will start working on that but not in excess. I was also told that she feels I should have a 4th appointment as I didn't gain much from my first appointment. crap. So I'll have to schedule that. I went to cardiology today and was told my ekg looked good.. slightly elevated blood pressure (I just started bp meds) and I told him of my fathers heart history. Now I have to go for an echocardiogram and a stress test. For crying out loud .. so what I thought would be my one and only cardiology appointment is now the first of 4. My next appointment is endoscopy on Thursday. I swear if they find something wrong I'm cancelling this whole thing. I'm getting really frustrated. I like to think, aside from being fat and slightly elevated blood pressure (144/88 today) that I'm healthy. My father (450 pounds, COPD, bovine heart valve, smoking, drinking, factor 5, diabetes, etc.. ) is not. I'm trying not to be him. I'm down from 315 nekkid to 274 (277.6 clothed at the drs) .. if they keep making me wait and lose weight I'm worried I won't be approved. I was 282.8 at my first appointment. They had my height wrong at my initial appointment and I think it might finally be fixed but I don't want it to look like I gained weight either if my bmi is reported wrong. I'm really getting nervous with all these additional hoops.. am I really not in good health or do I just have people being overly cautious. I still need to set up my sleep study, too.

Getting a sleeve done... start to finish

Yesterday was my first nutrition appointment. I got info on what's coming up, a calorie and protein goal until surgery, and info about baritastic which I had downloaded but not tried to use yet. Yesterday I logged all my food. I met my calorie goal but not my protein goal. I should have had a premier protein shake. I'll have one today. I have some in the fridge here at work but not sure if they are expired or not. I'll have to look at that. If they are, I'll pick some up at bjs this weekend. I go back to nutrition on Monday to meet with Fran. (I had Amy yesterday) and she said to talk to Fran about what CHRIAS told me about not losing weight. Amy said that is really strange. I told Amy that to keep my weight where it was I'm eating cheeseburgers and fries. Its not what I usually eat but I'm usually on a diet. LOL For like the last 25 years I've been on a diet.. not that it's gotten me anywhere. Today I'm doing the best I can with my protein. At lunch time I will have had 890 calories and 57 grams of protein. That's not bad on a 1600 calorie diet. Not sure what I will have for dinner. I know I still need to add a shake and that will get me the protein I need for the day.. but I'll be under calories if I stop there. I need to start planning better.

    Anyone from Delaware?

Good news. She said she’s clearing me! She said my bipolar seems stable. I have all the right reasons. She’s happy. Next appointment pulmonology.

    Anyone from Delaware?

I just got to the psych appointment. Here’s to hoping she doesn’t think I’m too messed up in the head to have this done. Lol. My normal therapist offered to write a letter but I normally see a prescriber not a doctor so I came here.
  12. I went to my consult about 2 weeks ago and made all my appointments. I go back on 2/14 to follow up. I called the other day and asked what amount of weight was expected for me to lose before I go back and I was told not to lose any. Insurance wants to see that I can't lose. I can go up or down 5 pounds but to try to stay the same. I was also told at my consult that it will be an outpatient procedure and sent home the same day. Is this normal? Thanks.

Was told not to lose weight

They told me don't lose between now and my 2/14 appointment although they said with the nutrition it would be hard not to but try. My nutrition is fasts tracked I have an appointment 1/10, 1/14 and 2/11. I was told I need 3 appointments but they don't have to be a month apart for my insurance (Independence BC). Thanks for the heads up on the soups. I'll stick to the bars and puddings. I'm not too much of a soup girl except creams... I'll do broth if I have to though.

Yes, it is Chrias... so if it's outpatient then why did you stay overnight? I'm so confused. My tubal, my FDP repair, etc was all outpatient. I was in and out in 4-5 hours. I called them this morning but they didn't call back (I didn't really expect it on a Friday before a holiday). I'll try them Wednesday. Thanks.

Was told not to lose weight

I have to do two weeks of something called a Robard Diet. Shakes and meal replacement bars and soups, I believe. I know I have to buy it from them.
