  1. Oh I see. Well with the weight loss hopefully it becomes more of a fun thing as oppose to anxiety inducing. I get that too. I never liked shopping before bc I’d see myself in the mirror and also had to see the sizes I had to put on. Now I have to say it’s more fun.
Hope you’re able to find some cute stuff!! I just bought a few things here and there as I lost weight bc I knew I was still losing. I have 22 pounds until I hit my goal weight.

  2. That’s great news!!!
Yes I know clothes are expensive so I was very appreciative of a friend who handed me down a bunch bc it was going to be a while before I could replace an entire waredrobe (I didn’t have ton of clothes before but when you don’t fit into any sure feels like you have nothing)
Don’t get me wrong I am so happy to clear my entire closet and drawers out. Just stinks bc to replace everything takes time and 💰 money. Not sure if you mind second hand shops (resale) but I’ve found things there too. I love going to resale clothing shops. I’ve found some really cute items!! Just a suggestion😊

  3. I didn’t take any pics but I tried the two eggs one banana pancake recipe!! Yum!!!
I added a little baking powder for fluff, some vanilla Protein Powder and some vanilla extract -so good. Yes I drizzled Syrup on it but also tried it with out and it’s so good without too!! Just wanted to put that out there. Still could only eat three bites (already at dinner a few hours ago)but it was good! Just wanted to try the recipe. Next time my kids eat pancakes I’ll make this for myself!😋🤪🤤

I am curious as to how many members on here have been obese since childhood, just since adulthood, or just for the past handful of years. How do you think that has shaped your expectations of surgery and your body image?

I have only been obese for about 8 years. In my FB group, a lot of the women struggle with getting down to a smaller size because they aren't used to the compliments or they feel uncomfortable. I was "warned" prior to surgery that my brain won't catch up to my body size for a while. I have the opposite issue. I MISS the attention from men. My brain still sees me as skinny, so when I walk past a mirror I am shocked at my large size. I think that has played a huge role in my disappointment in the surgery and my unrealistic expectation that I should lose 50lbs a month. LOL. I am SO ready to be the me I know and miss, and losing "just" 70lbs isn't as big of an accomplishment as others may see it as. I will be proud when I accomplish that final plateau and settle into a size that my brain recognizes. I know this is a very different perspective than those that have been heavy since childhood, for example. Would love to have a dialogue about these differences and expectations.

I have been obese for about 10 years....now that I have lost 81 pounds..22 more to go to get to my goal...when I look st myself in pictures, I still see myself as not “thin”. I realized that this Valentines Day when my husband and I took some pictures before going out. My sisters all said that I look great etc but when I looked at the pics all I can see is that I still have big legs.
Body dismorphia I don’t know but it’s very real feeling and view of how I see myself when I look at my pics. When I look at pre surgery pics I can see how much larger I was but for some reason it doesn’t translate when I look at the new pics I take.

  5. Just follow all the directions they give you. If you cheat or eat something you’re not suppose to then it won’t do what they need it to do. Remember this is the start of a life style change so commit to the plans they have for you so you can be successful long term. You can do it! It will get easier!!!

Call me crazy but I am practicing for my liquid pre op diet. My doctor requires a two week liquid diet pre operatively. The list says no fruit or yogurt😐. I don’t want to go into the two weeks cold and set myself up for cheats and extreme bitchiness. Has anyone prepped for the liquid diet by doing a few days here and there leading up to surgery?
You won’t cheat. You can’t bc if you do your liver won’t shrink like they need it to. They need it shrunk so they can better visualize your liver. Take this as a lesson in will power bc after the surgery this will be your new life...a birthday of sorts. You can do this. Follow all the rules so you can have the best outcome. Good luck and you can do it!!
(My pre op was liquids only too so I know how hard was and is going to be for you) Focus on the prize girl...A new beginning. Best of luck and you can do this

15 Months Post, lots of the same patterns. Routine foods occasionally eating out planned splurges.

Calories most days not above 1200 except during luteal phase when I need more.

Exercise is walking most of the time but recently started jumping rope again as a part of a challenge.

Created a January challenge and gave up Protein Cookies. I lost a few more lbs. Newest weight is 151.

Change in weather means im sick, but running a FEBRUARY challenge.

    Still a good choice

Had my sleeve done Jan,15,2019. Before then i never experienced heartburn like i do now..its horrible the burning in my stomach and throat. To the metal taste in my mouth, feeling like i want to vomit. The Dr. Had me on pepcid complete and tums.. but that didnt do anything. Now i was out on a script pantoprazole.. just wondering if anyone else is or has gone through this? Does it get better?

Sent from my SM-G965U using BariatricPal mobile app

Had my sleeve end of July 2018. Yes it got better for me. Never had heartburn before in my life (aside from my two pregnancies). It did go away after about 4mos. I just took Tums with me in my purse and that helped me. Hope it gets better for you like it did with me. Think of it this way...for me the heartburn made me really question every little thing I ate bc of the repercussions (heartburn)
