  1. My surgery went well and I got moving as soon as possible. I had 3 weeks out of work but I had my surgery just before the holidays so gave myself the time. I'm glad. I started walking at home and then started at the gym in week 2. I go nearly every day. I seem to be on the slower side of weight loss but I think that's because I haven't had any trouble with food and I'm older. Also, wasn't using any muscles before surgery and I sure have some now. Anyway, the measuring tape makes me happy and the scale does too because even if it isn't huge, the numbers keep getting lower. Very pleased and no regrets at all. It's up to us to make this work and that's my goal for me, to keep up the work and things will get to where they need to be for my best health and well-being. I was gassy in the beginning but that seems to have gone away in the last week or two.

  2. Starting weight: 240

Goal: Stay on track and keep losing

    Surgery date: 12/12/2018 VSG

    1. I'm proud that I keep going to the gym.

Just did 10 squats. I don't want to get on the office floor to do the the crunches so later on that.

  3. 25. I'm with mousecat, I can't imagine being without my mother somewhere on this planet. We may not live near each other but we (from my point of view) truly enjoy being with each other when we can. Likewise, for my dog, Peaches.

  4. 24. To have made a difference for the positive that helps make the world a better place.

B side. I'm working on it. I love my work now and expect to continue after I'm officially retired. I live by the sea which has also been part of my plan. I think having more time for creativity would float my boat.

  5. It may depend on the type of surgery you have. My surgery team said one year. I'm going with it because I've met a number of people now that have had bariatric surgery and alcohol became a problem for them. I don't want to become an alcoholic and I'm wary because it runs in the family. Oh, and yes, I work with individuals in recovery from addiction.

  6. 23. An untruthful story. At my age and in my particular line of work and all the work I've done on myself...any untruthful story I tell myself would have to be buried pretty deep to still exist. I'm not saying it doesn't but it's not a conscious story. Lately though, I've been wondering how I came to some of my decisions when I was younger...of course, the stupid ones...but what on Earth led me to believe those were good choices?

  7. I was reading up on this yesterday. So evidently, obesity affects our periods, to the point that we can think we are in menopause. As we lose weight, if it wasn't true menopause, then the body resumes it's normal cycle. I also wonder if it's triggered by the release of estrogen from our fat cells as we shrink. Anyway, I just made an appointment with an ObGyn because I want to make sure everything is working properly and that there is no issue as I've been experiencing increased activity shall we say since December and I'm 57.

  8. 21. More balance...I would say I could use more balance between work and play. Work seems to be a little much these days.

B-side - fun childhood outdoor activity - Riding! Horseback riding! But, I always loved being outside and I still do.

Oh yes, savasana and warrior for yoga today.

  9. 20. One small thing that brings me joy...my dogs who aren't small but they always bring me joy.

B-side: I love the longer days, the warming weather, and seeing the things I've planted appear and be alive.

Yoga is hard to fit in...harder than I thought...but I do make it to the gym at least 6 days a week. On that note, I am going to do wide legged forward fold and maybe some Goddess before I unfold.

  10. Honestly, I haven't made progress on the scale....but I'm at one of those weights that is an old set point. So, I'm working to out-stubborn the darn thing. But this week, I noticed my thighs seem to have done a bit of disappearing. I don't think the scale necessarily keeps up with all the rest of the activity going on with my body's changes.

    19. I'm with DanaC84. I am proud that I've made my home my home. Also some of my artwork. Oh, and yes, some of my poetry.

  11. 17. I hold myself back with procrastination and second-guessing...and I know better. Sheesh.

B-side. I think I'm both on the weekends. I have one day where I will have an activity of some sort with friends and the other day is home, chores, and relaxing. The weekend might have the one day that I don't make it to the gym.

  12. 15. My dogs light up my life as do my cats.

    16. I am deeply moved by the work I do and seeing the people I work with blossom.

B-Side - I think that I was hoping that I wouldn't have to think so much about food post surgery. Clearly that will never go away because I expect I will be logging my food for the remainder of my life time and making sure I get the right nutrition.

B-Side - I love the warmer seasons and mild climates. As I get older, I have less and less interest in being cold. Spring I love because everything is growing, Summer is a favorite because of everything blooming and swimming, fall is a favorite because of the colors and smells. Even Winter has it's pluses but....
