It felt like forever before I could see it in a reflection. I too took monthly pics and did a comparison collage to see it. I could see some of them, but not others. I think it took about 50lbs to see it on me a little bit.

Hey everyone. I am still pretty new to this. I am just a plethora of questions now a days haha. I am exactly 3 weeks and 2 days post op via gastric bypass. From my heaviest of 304 I am now down to 268 pounds. Yes it is nice but I still feel like I see no difference ☹. Others tell me they see a huge difference. I know when it comes to ourselves it is hard to see a difference and we are always our own worst enemy. I know a handful of people who have had this surgery and they tell me 6 months out I will see a gigantic difference. How was it for all of you guys? 🤗🤗🤗

Hey darling thank you!! Yeah the first few weeks are tough. All in all I have been pretty much just eating like sugar free pudding or Jello or an egg here and there but even that goes down very tough. Low fat yogurts and Soups. This really is a life changing experience without a doubt. I never imagined someone like me would struggle with eating 😂. I just want time to fly by so I can start a "normal" dietary regime and start going to the gym. But for now just soft puree Protein foods and walking. I am stoked though because I have so far lost 16 pounds in 3 weeks! I have much more to go but its all just a work in progress 🤗🤗

If it continues I might do that. But I think its my bodys way of simply telling me that some foods are still too early to tolerate. Congrats on you taking this journey as well!

Congrats on your surgery! This is pretty much exactly how I felt when I first started on foods and I didn't get off of purees until 4 weeks after surgery. It just felt like the food went down my esophagus then stopped instead of going down into my stomach pouch. Sometimes I couldn't even sit - I had to stand. When it was bad, I even had to take off my bra. Forget even thinking about lying down. I think that tightness is from the swelling which takes a long while to calm down and heal. I figured out pretty quickly what did not agree with me and then I just avoided those things. I had a tricky couple of weeks where so many foods had made me ill that I didn't want anything to do with them, but the foods that agreed with me I was so tired of they made me nauseous. Like mouth-watering, gagging nausea. But, thanks to the folks here, I just kept going. Skip the turkey chili - just leave it behind for now and try it again in a week. Move to the next food you want to try and you will find something that will work. Try tiny bites with a baby spoon spaced out by 5 min (set a timer!) Takes forever but you'll likely feel so much better. Don't worry too much - you are going to be feeling so much better in no time! You can do it!

I had surgery Thursday the 20 th and was on morphine till Friday at 1pm. Thought this was easy peasy until the happy juice wore off ! LOL! Then they gave me liquid Tylenol that night and now it’s my nightly ritual for a while . Zofran for nausea, but I dread giving myself a shot in the am !😱

I had a very similiar experience. I just remember a lot of people going in and out asking me questions and viewing my medical history over and over. Then I went into the operating room with one of those gowns with the back open. Layed on the surgery table with the mask put on my face then boom! Next thing I know I woke up in recovery in severe pain haha. This was my first surgery ever as well. I have never even been hospitalized for anything. I just want these next few days to go by as quickly as possible so I can feel "normal" again ☺

Hi, It went well. It was a strange experience to say the least. I was totally in control until I met the anesthesiologist . It seemed like after she started talking to me, it was no time and I was waking up in recovery. It took awhile to figure out what was going on. It seemed like a lot of people wanted to start giving me instructions right away. LOL First major surgery for me. I hope everything went well for you.

Dang they gave me no pain meds in the hospital. lol! When I got home the only real pain I had was severe muscle soreness. I took some Tylenols a few times. and just rested.

My pain medicine made me so sick I could not take it.
In two or three days though, you may be surprised how much better you will be feeling. You may be uncomfortable but the worst of the pain is usually gone.
Make sure you are walking everyday. Get up in the morning. Get dressed. Walk a few times a day. Rest when needed. You will do fine!

I'm with ya! I was given tylenol 3 and zofran for nausea. The worst of my pain is gas pain, so I'm hoping it's better soon. Both of my family members who have had the sleeve said day 3 was the toughest. I hope you feel better soon!

My white(? I think?) blood cell count was a little high the last time I had blood drawn because I was just getting over a sinus infection when I had gotten blood drawn. Not high enough to postpone surgery, so he just wanted it checked. I'm pretty sure they took my urine test because they enjoy it so much. They have a collection of my blood and urine that they're using to frame me in case they ever commit a crime.

Call on me Teacher- I know the answer! Please Please Please!
Extra urine sample is for, pregnancy rule'out
Blood sample- my Bariatric hospitall will not operate on someone with blood sugar above 100. They rationalize- if you have been fasting for 8-14 hours and you are still THAT HIGH, it Bears more study. Happened to me, luckily I had been early, only had fasted for 5 hours, but my big bad self, laid there until they got one of 80 and became satisfied.

I am so sorry to hear that. I know you have probably heard this already but you deserve better! Marriage is for better and for worse. He clearly just was not in the time frame for a marriage anymore. Dont let yourself think it was you. People like that do not ever end up happy. Show everyone including him that you are the new happier and stronger you!! Kill it with your results and progress. I know the hunger sucks but it will be worth it in the long run. Try going out with friends. Or have someone over. Anything to get your mind off food. I must say it has sure helped me out these rough few weeks.

I've had a billion surgeries (okay, not a billion), so I wasn't particularly nervous. I was really bored. I had to get there at 5am and they took me back shortly before 8. I have a prescription for Valium and they said I could take that morning of for anxiety, but I didn't. You just go in, go to sleep, and wake up and poof you're done! I did have some pretty severe nausea and pain for about 45 minutes in recovery and then it all disappeared. Just had a lot of muscle soreness for about a week after... like I did a lot of situps. No gas pain, either. You'll be amazed at how not hungry you are the first few days. Bring some pajamas or something and a brush and a cell charger. Things to keep you comfy and not bored during your stay. Your stomach itself won't hurt at all... which I found to be insane. You'd think it would.
Best of luck and welcome to the club!

You know I didn't have to per in a cup, one of the benefits of advanced age. That's to test for pregnancy, no windows to the East in pre-surgery, saves them from having to look for the 🌟 Star!

And some testimony from the Elder of the Pack. Like🐭🐺(mousecat) I too had to be there at 5Am for a 7AM surgery time, first thing on my Dr Needleman's surgery schedule at Ohio State University Hospital- Wexner Medical Center, sound like a big name- You ought see how area it really takes up.
But they made me feel like I was the most important, indeed like I was the only patient.
Signed in at front door, had my own person to deliver me to the designated pre-surgery area, once there I changed out of my clothes and in to their patient gown. And then I tinkled, see we had a pact going, if I would void as much Fluid out as possible, I would not have to be "cathed", worth it to me. Got comity in my bed, and then, since I was Surgery #1 Dr Needleman brought in the bulk of. the surgical team. That was so very nice of him, in the back of my mind was the niggling worry since this was a teaching hospital I might be someone's practice dummy. He promised it would be him and him alone doing what needed done. Promised when they bring you in I'll wave. Didn't have to do that for me, but it was so cool he wanted to allay my fears. And my anesthesiologist was named David, said I could him Dave if I liked. Stayed until I was relaxed, Dave might have slipped so Happy juice in while we were talking, but it was okay. And in deference to my age there would be a pulmonologist and cardiologist also there, you see I was and maybe the only 72 year old patient he would have. His bio said he had done 70s before, one of the reasons I chose him. He is also the chief of Bariatric Medicine and Metabolic Weight Loss, a full Professor in the College of Medicine, trained many bariatric surgeons in the Midwest. I had said to myself" Frustr8 You are going to have this chance, your one chance, you deserve it, grant yourself THE VERY BEST possible. Like my buddy above I also have had multiple surgeries, but OSU was the first place to have non-swerving, non-wobble gurneys. Now others have said the Operating Theatre was cold, mine wasn't, that they are going to strap you down , strip you, place your arms in a crucifixion postion, nope none of those things happened. They offered to help me slide over onto the Operating table, nope this old girl can still do a few things herself. And this was the first one I ever encountered that I didn't feel I would immediately roll off the other side. And although they were super efficient, it was still quite relaxed. There was Dr Needleman over to my left, waving vigorously, yeah he really WAS THERE! And over on the other side sitting on stools was my cardio and pulmo guys, and they saluted. Then Dave tu led blankets that were warm around me, said Are you comfty, and called me by name. I said" Yes I believe I am" and that quickly I was asleep. The very next thing I knew I was in my room on 10 Doan, stretched like I was waking up from a summer, nap, except I had oxygen on and EKG leads on, but I felt good, no nausea, no tenderness, being a little of a Doubting Thomasina, I flipped my gown up to make certain they had done surgery. Figured if they had I would be heavily bandaged, nope no ABD, just 6 little criss-cross steri- strips and one in the top of my navel. Now I knew why they told me to scrub my navel well, he likes to use them. Since I had a scar on the bottom from my tubal ligation some 30 years ago, he used the top, until the swelli,g went down a little I had a kissing navel. Never had pain, my tummy was as flat as when I went in so no residual gas to expell. And I was expecting to feel like too many sit-ups, can't say I had that either. I did get to stay until Friday, because of my advanced age(on paper- I am not that old physically, PO's my PCP greatly, think I didn't break down and fall apart yet. All his Gloom and Doom was for naught!) But mine was so good I would not fear another, but Praise God a RnY is One and Done. Yeah the thing I used most was 10 foot long charging cord I got at Staples, comb, brush, chap stick and Biotene. And I will also Welcome You to the Kangaroo Klub. Why Kangaroo, you might ask ? Because, honey, we all now have pouches.😝👼😝
