Lies to tell people about what surgery I am having
GradyCat replied to a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hiatal hernia repair was my go-to choice excuse -
Sip, sip, sip, don't gulp. Also try flavored water or even iced tea if you're not stomaching water well. You can't risk getting dehydrated.

That's wonderful! My former husband (now deceased) was a volunteer firefighter for 27 years. He LOVED it. Way to go! Good for you! You've inspired me to crank the incline up on the treadmill some more.

Getting married 4 months post op....
GradyCat replied to amaynard's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on both your upcoming WLS and your upcoming wedding. I don't know the answer to your question, as it's a dilemma for sure, but I wanted to send you best wishes. -
Still head hungry. Want to eat all day.
GradyCat replied to Mama Q Bear's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You've got to get rid of that head hunger. The surgery is a tool to help with your real stomach hunger, but the head hunger is up to us to manage. Have you considered therapy or group counseling at your bariatric office? -
"Specialty Plastic Surgeon" too far?
GradyCat replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I didn't know there were those who specialize in bariataric plastic surgery. I was just going to check out a couple of the top local plastic surgeons when I get to that point, about a year from now. -
I'm so excited about... Protien powder???
GradyCat replied to apiane's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I'm glad you're so excited. That's good for your future self. I stick with the pre-mades and generally GNC Lean Shake in chocolate. My husband likes to try the flavors, banana and strawberry, but I stick with the basics. -
That's a good question. I hadn't thought of it. I've always been anemic, so I can't donate blood anyway, but that's a good question.

You just had major surgery. You should feel tired and weak. Give it a few more days.

Packing a bag for the hospital
GradyCat replied to onepreciousk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I packed more than I needed. I didn't need my phone or my pajamas. I did end up using my deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, and chapstick -
2 days post surgery stomach pain
GradyCat replied to Alwzla8's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry you're having that trouble. I was one of the lucky ones that had no trouble. But I do know how important it is that you stay hydrated, so keep sipping, sipping, sipping all day long. -
What can I take to Sleep ?
GradyCat replied to Nikkim531's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a prescription for Ambien. -
I thought about it, but I'm just focusing on staying within protein goals and avoiding bad foods for right now

I am a good mommy to my 14 year old cat, Grady.

My doctor never told me I couldn't have coffee, but I only drink decaf and only on rare occasions anyway. I think @KCgirl061 gave you a great answer.

Stretching pouch directly after surgery?
GradyCat replied to Krestel's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It takes quite an effort to stretch your pouch. Stick with weighing and measuring everything and you can't go wrong. You may not ever "feel" it. -
Yes, absolutely normal, that's the main one where larger stuff went in and out and it was attached the muscle.

6/5 sleeve experience
GradyCat replied to Robert S. Libberton's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like you've got good goals, a good attitude, and are doing well. Good luck on your WLS journey. -
Congrats! I even took a photo of the number on the scale when I hit Onederland to make sure it was real and to remember the feeling. Way to go! Keep up the good work!

I think I'm allergic to carbs because every time I eat them I break out in fat! 🙂🙂 But seriously, can you help me figure something out? I eat around 750 calories/day. I drink 80 oz of water a day. I get 75 g of protein in a day. I exercise 30 minutes a day. But if I eat carbs, seriously like as few as six Wheat Thins crackers or something, the scale will go up the next day. Or if I eat a taco, the scale goes up, even though I'm still at 750 calories and mostly protein. Is it water retention from the salt in the crackers? Is it the carbs themselves? Do I have to avoid carbs completely, which I sort of already feel like I do 95% of the time. Thoughts? Similar situation with your body?

5 days post op—the things they did not tell me
GradyCat replied to Jessviera's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Each surgeon has slightly different requirements and it varies somewhat. -
ACID REFLUX MEDICATION DANGER
GradyCat replied to berry girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm glad that I don't take it anymore. Now that I've been sleeved I don't have GERD/Acid Reflux anymore. -
I took it for at least 5 years prior to sleeve surgery. Now I don't need it anymore.
-
Mine was about six weeks out because my surgeon was booked up that far on her calendar.

Bariatric fusion mixed berry water flavor
GradyCat replied to starladustangel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it a protein drink? I used the Premier Protein clear shake and got it at Sam's Club. For water, I just use Crystal Light.
