Peanut Butter Has Ruined My Life
GradyCat replied to wallpapermusic's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Good luck on your job interview. Peanut butter and I are getting alone just fine. Sometimes our tolerances change post-surgery, so apparently you'll have to cross it off your list. -
Follow the bariataric plate diet. 1/2 of your plate should be protein. 1/4 veggies. 1/4 grains. Eat protein first. If full, stop. Don't eat more than 1/2 cup at a time. Aim for 600-800 calories. Avoid sugars and starches. Drink your 64 oz of water each day.

My Hospital Bag..??
GradyCat replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe your phone and charger. I didn't feel up to using mine though. Sounds like you're ready. -
Good luck with your WLS journey and wishing you a speedy recovery

It'll take a few days to feel yourself again. Remember, you just had major surgery. Take it easy and don't be in a hurry.

Don't give in! I gave in to some Pringles yesterday and I regret it and I couldn't stop at just a few. Don't do it!

Take care. Good luck on your continued WLS journey.

Stalls happen, just wait it out and don't panic.

Have you considered counseling? Not marriage counseling, but just for yourself to work through some of these issues? They're not going to change post-surgery.

weight Regain after gastric sleeve
GradyCat replied to KenzyMartin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You know how to eat. The bariatric plate is 1/2 protein, 1/4 veggies and 1/4 grains and you're supposed to start with the protein and not move on to the next part of the plate if you're full. Keep portion sizes to 1/2 cup. Avoid a lot of starches and sugars. You've got this. You can do this. -
I think any kind of protein powder is fine.

That's big news. Good luck on your WLS journey. Take the pre-op diet seriously and follow it to the letter.

Way to go!

Pre-op diet weight gain
GradyCat replied to victoriaobe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All calories aren't equal. Sometimes it could be salt, sodium, water retention or carbs that cause that weight gain. -
Social Events and Eating Out: Advice?
GradyCat replied to a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eat before you go to the wedding or special event and then just don't eat at the event or keep some small snack like nuts to munch on in the bathroom when nobody's looking. For eating out, choose places that offer plenty of protein options like grilled chicken, steak, or even order a burger without the bun. -
Suggestions for chewable Vitamins?
GradyCat replied to texasnewf's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I haven't compared prices, but I'm happy with my GNC soft-chew vitamins. -
Day 2 post-op I was on protein shakes during my liquid phase and continue to use them now.

Dealing with emotional eating etc.
GradyCat replied to Zemi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been an emotional eater all of my life . . . until I had the sleeve surgery six months ago. Now I've worked so hard at being mindful about what I'm eating and wanting so hard to lose weight that I catch myself when I have an emotional event in my life and don't give in to the cravings. I know the surgery itself helped with the physical hunger, but the impact of having undergone a major surgery must have also helped with the head hunger because I'm determined not to give in to it. -
Stick to the liquid diet, it's SO IMPORTANT to make sure your liver is not too large for the surgery. And congrats on quitting smoking, it's the best decision you'll have ever made.

That's a good question because shapewear would be too confining and sweaty for jogging. Do you wear full coverage brief underwear? What about bicycle shorts, they're spandex and would hold things in.

Anyone else hiccup when they are full?
GradyCat replied to Sleeved in DFW :-)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've seen other people in the forums talk about getting this cue too. -
What does dehydration feel like?
GradyCat replied to Briswife15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Fatigue, extreme thirst, dry mouth, muscle cramps and headaches are all signs of dehydration. -
Sometimes we have to put up with a little less efficient of an office staff to get the perfect surgeon or doctor. If so, hang in there, if not, keep your options open and you'll be able to get copies of all of your medical records for the new doctor.

Hmmm. I'm 6 months post-op and haven't noticed any hair loss yet, but then again I already had thin fine hair from having thyroid issues. Like too, I'm taking biotin to keep it healthy and strong and growing and I also just started using Minoxidil.

I take an antidepressant and an anxiety medication and it doesn't hurt me, but I had the sleeve, not the bypass.
