    Eating

I was eating "regular" food at a month, but I didn't turn back to eating junk food, pastas, and bad foods that made me fat in the first place. I just ate REAL food.

    Vitamins

I wonder why the soft chews wouldn't work? I take them. But I'm a sleever.

    Fruits

I can see mashed banana during the pureed food stage, but check your paperwork as to exactly what your doctors office recommended. Each surgeon is slightly different on their post-op diet food plan stages.

    HELLO

How exciting for you. Glad you're here now instead of just lurking. 😀 Congrats on the upcoming surgery date and we wish you much success on your WLS journey. Keep us updated and feel free to ask any questions.
  5. Stick to 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup portion sizes and stop when you've eaten that much even if you don't feel full.

    Transportation

I see you've already gotten some great ideas and have a ride lined up. Congratulations on your decision to have this life-changing surgery and under the difficult conditions of not having a support network around you. They don't understand that WLS is NOT THE EASY WAY OUT!!!! It's just a tool to help you make the right food and exercise choices. It's not a magic bullet that instantly takes all the weight off overnight.
  7. Congrats! I had the same story, never any pain, felt great right away. I used a charity thrift store, St. Vincent de Paul to get transition clothes as I changed sizes in order to pay $2 or $3 per item rather than $20+ per item while I was losing. It worked out well. I changed sizes about every 20 pounds.

    Smoothie king

I've never been to a Smoothie King but my first question would be how much sugar and calories are in them? Do they have any protein? Be careful drinking your calories.

    1st day post op vsg

How are you feeling? Are you still in the hospital? Get up and walk 10 minutes an hour if you can. You'll feel tired for about a week after surgery.
  10. To take to hospital: comb, phone/charger, chapstick, toothbrush/toothpaste To have at home: sugar free popsicles, Gatorade Zero, protein shakes

    Severe back pain

Any time you say "severe" that warrants a call to your surgeon's office to ask the question. I know the "foamies" from eating something my pouch won't tolerate, but not from water.

    Pooping

Miralax or Calcium Caltrate should do the trick. I popped right away and never got constipated, but I was one of the lucky ones.

    Calories in a day

Most surgeons and nutritionists don't count calories. They just say, "Eat your protein first. If full, stop. If not full, go on to veggies, then if full, stop. If not full, go on to grains." Don't get hooked on the calorie-counting game post-WLS because it doesn't work.

    Help !

It's a tough, personal decision. Both WLS's are good options. I was going to choose the bypass but two of my other doctors suggested sleeve as "less radical" so I did that instead. It worked. It resolved all of my comorbidities: sleep apnea, migraines, GERD, acid reflux. I have had no problem absorbing vitamins from food without supplements. But bypass is good too, I'm not trying to influence your decision. I was about a 42 BMI as well pre-WLS.
  15. Why are you eating meat already at 3 weeks post-op? I wouldn't do a "detox" or a "cleanse" at this point because y ou just had major surgery and your body is healing and adjusting. Just give it some time. You're without energy because your body just had a major trauma. That's normal. Give it some time.

New & Needing Post-Op Diet Advice

I still get a lot of gurgling, especially if I eat too fast or drink with a straw because it allows a lot of air to get in there. I never did the puree stage. I did 2-3 weeks liquids, then soft foods, then regular foods. I skipped pureed because I don't care for that texture. I turned out just fine. 😁

    Help please

    Yes, it is.

    Confused

Week 4 for me but each doctor has different guidelines. Yes you can add applesauce or unsweetened milk to it.
  19. These are a new treat/snack I found by watching grocery haul videos on YouTube. They're like tortilla chips or potato chips only healthier, made with "popped corn" and come in a variety of flavors. I liked this flavor, the queso, but I like the original Sea Salt flavor the best. I like more plain things. I've included photos both of the front and the back nutrition label. Maybe a little high on carbs, but on WW the points are good for the serving size.
  20. On the plane: babybel cheese that you can carry on in your handbag In the UK: soups, hummus, eggs, baked beans,

    Confused

Depends on what your surgeon's office told you. They all vary one from another.

    Keeping your shakes fresh

It takes me 45 minutes to an hour to drink one but I haven't found them getting yucky. Do you use powder or pre-made? I use the premade GNC Lean Shakes 25 g protein swiss chocolate flavor.

    Normal Bites?

You'll get used to it and it'll become a new way of life for you.
  24. You don't need to be "chugging" your water. Just keep sipping, sipping, sipping all day long. If you've got a dry throat, suck on some sugar-free mints. Suck on some sugar-free popsicles.
