How are you getting in enough protien
GradyCat replied to Porthous's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use a combination of protein supplements (because I like the shakes for breakfast as a meal replacement) and real food. I get eggs, salmon, hamburger, cheese, almonds, protein chip snacks, protein cake bite snacks, and peanut butter. -
I'm using GNC soft-chews of Multivitamin, D3, B12, and Calcium
-
I never felt sick in the puree stage, but I filled up super fast and couldn't eat much and ate something or drank something small every 3 hours or so
-
No, I haven't had any pain with that.

Starting my WLS Journey
GradyCat replied to OnederlandOnceAgain's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi and welcome to this page and these forums. I learned so much helpful information here from people who shared their experiences. My insurance didn't require me to lose any weight or do the six months of medical weight management either and mine paid 100% after my deductible as well. That was a relief! Good luck on your WLS journey. -
Upcoming Surgery- What to expect
GradyCat replied to XOxtinaXO's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It sounds like you're having surgery in Mexico. There's a forum here specifically for that so maybe you'll find some answers there. I had mine done locally so of course I had met my surgeon and had labs done 2 weeks prior to surgery. -
Weight gain at 4 weeks
GradyCat replied to Luisa77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nearly everybody experiences a stall around Week 4. Gain? Not so much, but I guess it could happen. Water retention, body healing, all sorts of things come into play. But a Week 4 glitch is pretty common, so I wouldn't worry about it. -
Hopefully you have the nurse's name and you can report her to the hospital administration calmly and in detail as to what happened during your stay.

Losing weight will probably help with your back problems. Good luck.

Anxiety/Depression after surgery
GradyCat replied to njcardi97's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery releases some hormones and feelings that might be too much for someone who already had Depression and Anxiety. Why are you so against counseling? Have you not found a good one yet? I have had Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety for years and I take medication and go to counseling and I couldn't handle setbacks or disappointments nearly as well if I didn't. I function better with medication and therapy. Maybe you should consider it. -
I’ve lost too much weight!!! Help
GradyCat replied to lorena090's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My guess is the move has your nerves frazzled and you need to get back on your vitamin regimen. I wouldn't try to gain if I were you. Hang in there. -
I had mine about two weeks before surgery.

I was nauseous all of Day 2 post-op and wasn't allowed to drink anything until around 7 pm that night, after my leak test had been confirmed no leaks. Then Day #3 I was fine and drinking and no nausea and was discharged. I couldn't have gone home on Day #2.

Interior - Red itchy patched in skin folds
GradyCat replied to BrighterSide's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I wash those places with Noxema skin cream and it makes the redness go away instantly. I've used Monkey Butt powder. Luckily, crossing fingers, I haven't had it since my surgery and losing 50 pounds. -
I just visited my surgeon's office last week for my 3 month post-op visit and they encouraged me to eat more real food as opposed to drinking protein shakes. But I like the protein shakes! They said to limit it to one a day as a meal replacement. Oh well. And oh, I'm not having any poop problems and I eat real food twice a day.

How much were you required to loose
GradyCat replied to roneller's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wasn't required to lose any weight. -
Have you tried going back to the post-op diet of 600-800 calories for a while? It might reset you.

One month post op sadness!
GradyCat replied to jazzyj13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm four months post-op from sleeve and never had those issues. Are you eating too fast? Are you eating foods that your body isn't ready for? I don't know the answer. -
Just keep playing with your soup and food and move it around and nobody will really notice that much. If they do say something, then go with the stomach bug .
-
Why aren't you trying the protein shakes? You need some nutrition. The diarrhea will probably be short-lived phase. If worried, can you call your doctor's office and get advice? Good luck!
-
I think you're doing just fine and it's okay to be okay.

That's good news! Good luck on your surgery -
Overeating with Sleeve
GradyCat replied to comingupmilhouse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
500 calories isn't too few. Most get between 600-800. Your blood pressure might change and you might be getting sugar (lack of sugar) spikes to account for the syncope (near-fainting) episodes. I've had them too when I stand up and start to walk, but they pass quickly. My surgeon said to eat a little more salt. -
Feeing hungry, post op week2
GradyCat replied to curtains's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you'll still have some hunger, although it's different post-op, more manageable. The thing that's harder to manage is the head hunger, boredom hunger, nerve hunger, psychological hunger. Mine still needs work.
