Would it work to go back to the basics of eating 600-800 calories/day, getting in 60 g of protein, 64 oz of water? Maybe two week liquid diet to get started?

Questions for all of you that are post-op!!!
GradyCat replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
1. I had no problem swallowing pills post-op. Been taking them since discharge from hospital. 2. H-pylori test, blood tests, EKG, and chest xray 3. Eating small meals multiple times a day, resisting the junk food of the other family members, resisting peer pressure to eat, learning to listen to your stomach and otherwise living a normal active lifestyle -
Then it must be natural for us to stall at this point. Whew! At least it's a normal thing and it's not just me. I know I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be doing (700 calories/day, exercising 4 days/week, 60 g protein, 64 oz water) but the scale will just not cooperate. I wish the nutritionists would tell us to expect the Week 4 and Week 16 stalls so we wouldn't freak out and think we're done losing.

I don't know why, but I thought about what if I had a medical emergency and they had to take me on a stretcher to the hospital in an ambulance and they couldn't lift me because I was so fat? That motivated me to want to lose weight.

Fish oil omega-3 soft capsules
GradyCat replied to New&Improved's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I used to take them but they gave me heartburn and made me burp. -
Your stomach talks to you a lot better post-op than it did pre-op. It lets you know when you're full and when you're really hungry.

My surgeon never said I couldn't have coffee. But I guess the caffeine acts as an appetite stimulant? I have always just drank decaf.

So funny but true! I'm a scale-a-holic too! And . . . I've been in a stall for 3 weeks also. From what I'm reading in the forums for us December sleevers, it must be a natural stall point because I've read at least 4 or 5 of us stalling around Week 16.

That's great news! Good luck and take care and let us know how you're doing post-op.

Embrace the Stall

That's very helpful to know that I'm not the only one stalling and that it can start up again when my body's ready. Thanks for sharing. -
Embrace the Stall
GradyCat replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks so much! I'm in a stall now and at first I was beamoaning, "What am I doing wrong?" then I realized I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be doing but my body needs to rest for a few weeks. At first I worried that this was all the weight I was going to lose and I need to lose twice as much more yet, but I now understand that I just need to breathe and ride it out. Thank you for this post! -
First real stall? Need to talk it through
GradyCat replied to KT1981's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm experiencing the same thing now at 4 months post-op sleeve. I gained 2.5 pounds for no real reason. I'm eating the same as you, exercising 4-5 days a week, meeting my protein goals, and getting my water in. Finally, finally, after two weeks now it's finally going back down but I feel like I've lost a month in terms of precious losing time. But, I know stalls are a natural thing and my body needs to rest every now and then, but it's hard to come to terms with and I keep trying to blame myself even though I didn't do anything wrong. It's tough. -
Congrats! Keep up the good work.

That's great news! So happy for you. Good luck with the WLS process.

Medications immediately after surgery
GradyCat replied to Cameo325's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started taking my prescription medication as soon as I got home from the hospital and had no trouble swallowing them. The surgeon explained that they'll still absorb -
Yes, I'm much more active now and it's easier to go to the gym and I've been enjoying walks outside this Spring and life is good. Congrats on your rapid weight loss!

I'm on solid foods and get "hungry" about every 3 hours after being able to eat just small amounts. It's a lifestyle change I guess. It does get better when you get to solid foods though.

I'm 4 months out and have lost 35 pounds the the sleeve. I'm in a stall right now, my second stall post-op.
-
Tea wouldn't do anything unless you'd added sugar. It's probably just a natural stall. I'm in one right now at 16 weeks.
-
You're on antibiotics, right? Yeah, your surgery might get postponed. Sorry about that. Hang in there.

I've been in a stall for 2-3 weeks now and it's finally going down . . . slowly. I'm so close to getting into Onederland that it's killing me!

Favorite restaurant meals post WLS?
GradyCat replied to BelleOfBatonRouge's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was eating out at restaurants, but then I hit a stall, so now that I'm eating at home again I'm starting to lose again. Even though I count everything I eat in MyFitnessPal, there's something about eating out that isn't conducive to losing weight. But when I do eat out I eat one beef taco or a half portion of salmon. -
You've hit the Week 4 stall. Everybody gets it. It'll even out in a week or two and start losing again. Stay away from the scale, it's the enemy.
