Daily calories 8 months post VSG sleeve
GradyCat replied to becca101's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in the same boat right now at 4 months. I think it's a stall. If I eat 600 calories I maintain but if I eat 900 calories I gain. How crazy is that? -
What to eat
GradyCat replied to Sherrysmail123@gmail.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're not really restricted to what foods you can eat, but a sensible diet plan is suggested where you avoid fats, sugar, and starches and concentrate on getting in 60 g of protein each day. Imagine a plate and fill it with 1/2 protein, 1/4 veggies and 1/4 grains/starches. You eat the protein first. If you're full, stop eating. If you're not full, move on to the veggies. Same thing, if you're full, stop eating. Always eat protein first. -
Losing inches not weight
GradyCat replied to DelawareWoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're at the Week 4 stall. It's very common for everyone to hit a stall at that point. The fact that you've lost inches is great. Stay off the scale for a couple of weeks and it'll start moving downward again. -
Who’s your insurance company? Humana Medicare Advantage plan.

Got sleeved yesterday morning and night 1 was rough
GradyCat replied to Jwil's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a ton of nausea and spitting up foam on the first day post-op, but by day 2 it was all just fine. I never had any pain or blood. -
I had no problems getting in my proteins and water post-op. I too have seen some people here say they had trouble getting in more than a couple of tablespoons, but I haven't had that trouble. I'm getting 600-800 calories/day now at 4 months post-op and have lost 50 pounds total.

It's common to stall at Week 4, so don't fret it. My soft food phase was cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, soups, sugar-free pudding, sugar-free popsicles.

Protein making me nauseous
GradyCat replied to Brent701's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you experimented with different protein drinks? I use GNC 25 Leak Shake, chocolate flavor, pre-made and it's wonderful. -
Anyone else eat melba toast?
GradyCat replied to angie_is_losing_it's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No. I've never eaten melba toast and I'm avoiding carbs like crackers and bread -
I'm 53 and didn't have to have 6 months of weight loss management either. I just had to have the 40 BMI.

Surgery is complete! Onto road to recover
GradyCat replied to Jon_gets_skinny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, they won't let you sip water or anything until after your leak test. How's the nausea? Congrats on your surgery and good luck on your weight loss journey. -
It'll be okay. Just try to follow your doctor's recommended post-op diet plan of 60 g of protein each day, 64 oz of water each day. You're human. It's okay.

That's great news! Congrats.

Pre-Operative Diet Question
GradyCat replied to TTU_FAN_19's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein's not gonna hurt you. The main point is to shrink your liver, which you're doing on low-cal and low-fat diet pre-op. -
10 days post op smooth sailing?
GradyCat replied to Selmeeka's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a smooth sleeve surgery experience. No complications, no pain, no problems with constipation or swallowing, it's been a pleasure. -
Deliberately eating to much
GradyCat replied to caryla's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
You need to talk to the behavioral therapist at your surgeon's office because it sounds like you have an eating disorder. You went through all of this surgery to have a happier healthier lifestyle, so you need to follow the program. Please take care. -
That's great, congrats!

Need encouragement from slow losers
GradyCat replied to Briswife15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 54 and just had surgery 4 months ago and I'm in my second stall already and have only lost 35 pounds so far post -op, but I have faith that it will continue if I just keep doing what I'm doing. -
I was a little tired for about two weeks post-op I think

Feeling Full/Receiving Full Cues in the Morning
GradyCat replied to KT1981's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'll have to pay more attention. I'm not "hungry" in the mornings but I drink a protein shake each morning when I wake up out of habit
