    New Comer

I don't remember doing pureed. I think I did liquids for 3 weeks then to soft foods and regular foods. I still drink protein shakes.
  2. I am a sweets lover too and I can still have them post-sleeve, but not the whole bag or box or carton, just a reasonable serving size as per the container. Either surgery has its own set of pros and cons. I had the sleeve. I don't have a vitamin absorption problem and don't have to take vitamins or supplements. I wish you luck and success in your WLS journey.

    Acid Reflux

You can tell acid reflux from heartburn because you can "taste" the acid coming back up in your esophagus or throat. I get it very rarely if I eat a very specific chocolate protein bar but otherwise having the sleeve cured me of my GERD and Acid Reflux.
  4. I treated myself with trips/vacations. Able to fit in a standard airplane seat. Able to walk around excursions and hiking. Able to fit in a swimsuit. It was a win/win.

    Having sugar free chocolate daily?

What's the old saying, "Everything in moderation." You shouldn't have to eliminate any foods or treats from your diet as long as you keep them in moderation.
  6. For many years I've been drinking premade GNC Lean Shakes 25 g protein in Swiss Chocolate flavor. They're my breakfast every morning. Then I saw a YouTube video of a girl doing WW like I am and she used Fairlife Protein shakes. I saw that they were slightly smaller bottles but my interest perked up when I saw they had 30 g of protein. Also, GNC Shakes are about $2.48 apiece while the Fairlife shakes are about $1.74 apiece, so I thought I'd give them a try. My go-to flavor is chocolate, so I tried the chocolate first, but it tasted watered down and not as creamy as the GNC shake. Then I tried the Vanilla. Heaven! So rich and creamy and a wonderful vanilla taste. This might be my new preferred breakfast.

    Nausea

I'm not sure why the nausea would still be with you 4 weeks post-op. Maybe call the surgeon's office to ask and maybe get a prescription for nausea medication. It also seems odd that you haven't lost any pounds in 4 weeks. It usually falls off like crazy immediately after surgery. Maybe mention that to your doctor as well. Are you going to the bathroom okay?

    Sweet cravings post op.

I've always been a chocoholic for 50+ years and now suddenly I've become a savory girl. Go figure!
  10. Old habits die hard. You're not going to like my answer, but you probably need to talk to the therapist at your surgeon's office to discuss why you're going back to these habits, how to get rid of these habits, etc. You know what to eat and what not to eat, the key is doing it.

Just venting, gastric bypass in 1 day.

Believe it or not, we all got cold feet right before the surgery. It's a natural thing to be scared about being put under anesthesia and any complications. If you weren't worried, we'd be worried about you. 😀 But take comfort from the thousands of us here on these forums who survived and thrived after WLS and are here to share our experiences and information with you. Take some deep breaths. Try to get some sleep tonight before your surgery tomorrow. It'll be a rough couple of days after surgery, no doubt, but a month from now you'll realize how much worthy it was to do.

    Food after bypass

There aren't any off-limit foods, it's just about eating what's best for you and what your body will tolerate and making the best food choices focusing on protein first.
  14. I know you feel like moving forward, but your body is still healing on the inside, so please follow your surgeon's instructions and take the phases as they come and don't jump ahead.

    No Caffeine

I would start weaning off it now so it won't be cold-turkey when you have the WLS. Caffeine doesn't affect me energy-wise so I didn't really have an issue with it.

    Weight gain

Somebody else on here today was talking about alcohol being an issue. Now that you know your primary trigger, you know what to work on. Have faith that your tool of bypass will still work for you if you get back to basics in terms of tracking your intake, watching drinking your calories, etc.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not a drinker.

Alex - Bring back the chat rooms!

I never saw those. Must have been before my time. Interesting.
  20. I stopped losing at 9 months. Now I'm at it again 3 years later trying to drop a few pounds. Very slow, glacial slow, but it's working
  21. I learned about these from a grocery haul video on YouTube. If you remember the old Teddy Grahams from the 1990's (do they still make those?) they remind me of those or kinda like animal crackers. They're called KODIAK BEAR BITES and they are graham crackers in three flavors: Chocolate, Honey, or Cinnamon. They are adorable and I even like the design of the box, as if that was important. A single serving (as if you could eat just one serving!) is 15 crackers, for 120 calories, 17 carbs, 2 fibers, 5 g protein, and 3.5 g fat.

    sick to my stomach

Better to call your doctor and check to see what's causing the pain rather than wait too long and it get potentially worse.
  23. But that's still really good to lose 8 pounds a month. Pat yourself on the back and keep focused on your protein and water intake and you'll get there. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

    Weight worry!!

You might benefit from talking to a therapist about your worries so he/she can get you to set realistic views of yourself and eating from this point forward.
