I can't imagine at this point trying to gain weight, I'm still focused on the losing. Congrats.

Oh wow, you're an inspiration

Is my goal reasonable?
GradyCat replied to mousecat88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad top hear you're doing so well. Mine is going more slowly and I don't think I could reach that goal by then, but I wish I could. Good luck! -
Lost over 130lbs, never dieted, crash coming soon?
GradyCat replied to deltagirl93's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
So jealous. Mine weight loss isn't as consistent or fast as yours. I'm in a stall right now. -
I don't think it's going to kill you. It's still within the portion size we're supposed to have and still within the daily allotment of calories. No worries.

amusement parks post-op
GradyCat replied to artisticmindRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Huh, that's weird. I hadn't heard that. I haven't been to any amusement parks, but I don't feel any different like I couldn't do it now post-op as compared to pre-op. -
I've been adding Crystal Light to my water and I've been getting in my 64 oz/day

2 year lag in compliance, dieting again...portions?
GradyCat replied to polly...'s topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It seems like you'd be able to go back to post-op diet plan to reset your pouch. Make sure you're getting 60 oz of protein each day, water intake of at least 64 oz each day, calories under 1000. -
Afraid of stretching my sleeve...
GradyCat replied to Tejee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I asked my surgeon about that a couple of weeks ago and she said it would take quite a bit of overeating over a prolonged period of time to stretch it out -
That's great news. Congrats and good luck on your WLS journey.

It's normal to have stalls from time to time. Our bodies need to rest to adjust to our having lost a great deal of weight. Stick with the basics of weighing and measuring everything you eat, get 64 oz of water in each day, get 60 g of protein in each day, and stay between 600-800 calories.
-
I didn't have the best plan, but I stayed under 1500 calories, maybe not the best choice of foods in those 1500 calories though, and not a specific meal plan

Overeaters Anonymous - Should I go??
GradyCat replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'd say do whatever you think is going to help you. I've not been to OA, so I don't really know that much about them, but you wouldn't have to tell them you've had WLS, would you? Does your surgeon's office have support groups? Mine does, they meet once a month and have a seminar. -
Oh WOW, you should be very proud of yourself. I'm not making nearly that kind of progress. I've been in a stall for a month now. Way to go, keep up the good work!
-
I'd just say, "I'm on a diet" and leave it at that. I chose not to tell anyone about my surgery because I didn't want the smart-ass comments and judgmental glances.
-
I don't get "water" per se but I definitely get 64 oz of liquids a day. I use Crystal Light in my water. I drink unsweetened iced tea. The protein drinks count as liquid too.
-
I stocked up on lots of varieties of liquids (Gatorade Zero, diet caffeine free peach iced tea, crystal light), sugar-free popsicles, and sugar-free pudding.
-
Go back to the basics. Weigh and measure everything you eat. Stay between 600-800 calories a day. Get your 60 g protein daily with 64 oz of water.
-
I'm four months post-sleeve and I eat around 800 calories a day. I drink a protein shake for breakfast each day. I have a slice of Colby cheese with a slice of Black Forest Ham for lunch. I have a handful of almonds for a snack. And I either have another protein shake or another slice of ham and cheese for dinner
-
It sounds like a good plan. I've been in a stall for a month now, so I just started back on just shakes yesterday, so it sounds like we have the same idea.

Try to take a deep breath and wait for their answer.

Question for GradyCat re calories 4 weeks post op
GradyCat replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Once you're past the liquids phase and the soft foods phase post-op, my nutritionist recommended I stay in the range of 600-800 calories per day for regular solid foods while in the losing phase for a year or so. I just saw her two weeks ago for my 3-month post-op visit and she reiterated this calorie range to me. -
Immediate Weight Loss
GradyCat replied to Maestro1279's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's perfectly normal, it's just the swelling and fluids from the hospital. Don't weigh yourself for two weeks and then you'll see a big drop. -
Crystal Light Rustrations
GradyCat replied to OhMyGracious!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to have to look at my crystal light powder that I just bought. I didn't realize it had caffeine. I like it so much and it has plenty of flavors to keep me drinking water. -
Advice for people taking care of you
GradyCat replied to Dorian300's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I guess just make sure they have stocked the fridge for you with healthy foods that you can eat. Right after surgery it'll be liquids so you'll need lots of different types of things to drink, protein shakes, sugar-free popsicles, sugar-free pudding. Also, ask them not to eat foods that will make you feel bad while you're recovering, like ice cream, pizza, or junk food. Trigger foods. It's hard enough to do without seeing family members eating.
