I like the "idea" of spin class, but not the reality. Hahaha.

Sure, the things you eat make a big difference as to the quantity you can tolerate at this point.

Sorry you didn't get a good personal comforting experience, but I'm glad you're okay. Good luck on your WLS journey and take care.

Is Weight Loss Surgery for Me?
GradyCat replied to gch81kb's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It sounds like you're doing well on your own. Good for you! It's a very personal decision based on a lot of factors and I think the responses you're going to get here are going to be biased because most of us us have had WLS. I had the sleeve 5 months ago and I can tell a big difference now with hunger and portion sizes compared to if I hadn't had surgery. The surgery is just a tool, not a solution. -
Stalls are a normal part of the process, even though we hate it and we may be doing everything right with exercise, water, protein, and calories. They still happen. Don't let it worry you.

My surgeon wouldn't schedule me until after my insurance approved it. It took 3 weeks once insurance approval was sought, but it took several months before my surgeon's office gathered paperwork, I got physician clearances and testing, etc. Then by the time I got insurance approval it was 6 weeks out on my surgeon's calendar to get scheduled.
-
It'll be more normal soon. It's just a transition from your body undergoing major surgery.

You should be drinking every 15 minutes or so. You don't want to gulp it between classes.

4 week Post-Op 2 week stall and weight GAIN :(
GradyCat replied to mariazmk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it's perfectly normal for the scale to fluctuate like that and Week 4 is infamous for a stall. -
Is it normal at 10 mos out to be able to eat more?
GradyCat replied to Kris77's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I guess we have to remember to stick to 1/2 cup of food whether or not our stomachs tell us to stop -
3-Month Post-Op Appt - (Gastric Sleeve)
GradyCat replied to emet1976's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can't compare yourself to others because they start at different weights, have different metabolisms, etc. You're doing GREAT, you're ROCKING IT! -
I'm so sorry to hear that you've had to go through all this. It should be smoother sailing for you shortly. I was blessed and lucky to have not had any complications. Please take care.

There's an infamous Week 3 or Week 4 stall that everyone experiences. Then other stalls just happen even if we're doing everything right. I would eat around 600 calories if I were you and not worry about the scale.

Is this normal? Pouch Question
GradyCat replied to hburns89's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sure, we're still going to have hunger, but it's more manageable. It doesn't completely go away, but it's not so intense that it drives us to eat with abandon. Also, we still sometimes have that awful "head hunger" that we have to deal with and learn to ignore. -
I could sometimes feel a slight "pull" but never really had pain. Is it red or inflamed or anything? How does it look?

Sounds like a good plan. I'm a year away from considering plastics and I'm scared to even think about how expensive they might be. I'm mostly interested in a breast lift, maybe with implants.

Artificial Sweetener Allergies?
GradyCat replied to jenmc1986's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh that's a shame because there are so many non-sugar sweeteners out there for "diet" food and low-sugar food. My pre-op diet was just restricted to 1500 calories/day with little fat. -
So many already in just 5 months: (1) being able to buy a Medium or Large instead of a 2X (2) not having to wear an extender chain on my necklaces (3) my wedding rings are looser and going to have to be resized at some point (4) I can sit with my legs crossed up underneath me (5) the towel fits around me after I take a shower (6) I'm getting a few "looks" from men at the grocery store and gym

Made it to the other side!!!!
GradyCat replied to jaytissle55's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad to hear you're doing okay. Good luck on your WLS journey. -
My husband supported and encouraged me throughout the whole process and helped me make the best decision.

My nutritionist said 600-800 calories. I'm usually around 900.
-
I haven't timed it, but I think I'm waiting enough time between eating.

Do you ever feel you are losing too fast?
GradyCat replied to Emma2.0's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I WISH I was losing that fast! 🙂 Don't worry, there'll be stalls along the way and your body will catch up with itself. -
No weight loss since surgery!
GradyCat replied to Taranurse 1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The scale isn't always our friend. Are you also tracking your measurements? Please try to get in the required amount of water everyday because you don't want to get dehydrated. You should know that nearly everyone experiences a stall around Week 3 or 4, so be prepared for that. It's normal. -
I've been using Bio-Oil on my surgical incisions ever since they healed at 3 weeks and now at 90-days post-op they're really starting to fade nicely. They're a dull pink and the top one is almost invisible as well as the two smaller lowest ones, with the two in the middle, the largest ones, still the most visible. I believe that they'll be gone within another six months. How are your incision scars doing? Are you using anything on them? How long did it take for them to fade away completely?
