ACID REFLUX/HEART BURN
GradyCat replied to Dabeyhive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was pretty intense right after I started solid and continued for about a month, then it went away and I haven't had acid reflux or GERD since then. -
Happy Surgiversary!

Is it possible to stall at 2 weeks???
GradyCat replied to cutiepie34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's perfectly normal. Most people stall around Week 4, but it's possible, every body is different to stall at Week 2. Your body just went through a major trauma, so it's adjusting and learning about the new you. Stalls are inevitable and part of the WLS process. -
***Qustions for Sleevers***
GradyCat replied to Healthy_life2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Surgery performed in Louisville, KY, USA 12/11/18. Questions for sleeves: Do you feel you were given enough information on this procedure pre op and post op? YES Did they explain that you will still feel real and head hunger with any surgery procedure? Or tell you hunger will go away? YES Did they give you clear instructions on how to work your plan? YES Was the psych evaluation just a hoop to jump through? Would you have benefited doing more therapy before surgery? JUST FINE Were your follow up appointments with your surgeons and dietician helpful? YES Did you understand that you can gain weight back? Did they help with a list of instructions and things to do and not to do? YES If you had regain, did you contact your team and were they helpful? N/A -
You're doing great, Steve, glad to see you checking in. I had my sleeve a week before you did and I had a month-long stall from Month 4 to Month 5 but things are moving again, so I'm happy. No regain. Still eating small portions, less than 1,000 calories, exercising 4-5 days a week, drinking 64 oz of water, and eating at least 60 g of protein a day.

What to have at home after surgery?
GradyCat replied to shellyk018's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sure to have a variety of liquids available. I had Gatorade Zero, Decaf Sugar Free Iced Tea, Diet Snapple Peach Tea, decaf coffee, and crystal light flavor packets for my water. I also lived on sugarfree popsicles for a while. -
Nope, I've never even heard of them. You can do it for four days. Good luck with your surgery!

weight gain after gastric sleeve

I'm not being mean here, but my question is this . . . if the tool of surgery didn't work the first time, why would a revision work the second time? It's all in your hands now, isn't it? To eat the right number of calories and to exercise are still going to be your job after WLS. I think you can do it. Do a pouch reset. Eat 600-800 calories/day. Get out and walk. Drink that 64 oz of water each day. Eat your protein first. Go back to the basics and I'll bet you can get there.

embarassed of loose skin
GradyCat replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wear longer capri-length pants to the gym, but I do wear short-sleeve shirts, which show my bat wings. I think it's an age thing. I'm 54 so I don't care what people think anymore. I only care what I think about how I look and I'm okay with it. -
Nope, I bought some Halo Top ice cream this week, 5 months post-op and I can already tell it's a bad idea because you forget all about portion control and it creeps up on you. I'm staying away from them!

You're doing great and good luck on your upcoming surgery.

You can have something every once in a while, just not too much and not too often. And it's always okay to just politely refuse something offered to you.

When did you reach your goal weight?
GradyCat replied to egs93's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon's office says to expect it to take 12-18 months. Apparently I'm a slow loser, so it's going to take every bit of that. But I'm still happy with my progress, as any weight lost is better than no weight lost. -
Sleeve done on May 16. Experiencing high blood pressure
GradyCat replied to Tiffany L.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's probably just your body healing, after all you just underwent a major surgery. Just keep an eye on it, but I'm sure it'll be okay. Mine spiked while in the hospital due to nerves, medications, post-op trauma to body, etc. but came down just fine once I got home after a couple of days. -
ANYONE CHEAT ON THEIR PRE OP LIQUID DIET?
GradyCat replied to CESILEYRAE's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No, I didn't cheat because I was terrified of having a fatty liver and not being able to go through with the surgery once they went inside of me and saw it. It's only two weeks, you can do it! -
Starting early before surgery... Anybody else work out.. pre op...
GradyCat replied to big_ange's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I worked out regularly (4-5x/week) at the gym at least several months before surgery to get strong and prepare for my future life. -
That's great news. Good luck on your WLS journey.

Surgery is Tomorrow!
GradyCat replied to Fazzini Bee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's only natural to be a little nervous. I remember waking up excited in the recovery room because that meant I had survived. LOL! -
Good luck, you can do it!

What Are the Surgeons Telling Their Patients?
GradyCat replied to Danny Paul's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon advised to eat 1/4 cup portions and stick with protein first, then veggies, then grains. My nutritionist says around 800 calories/day. -
I finally made it to Onderland!
GradyCat replied to Dtrain84's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow, you're HOT! Good job! -
HELP I'm so stressed and I SMOKE
GradyCat replied to michellehill's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never smoked, so I can't really relate, but I heard my surgeon telling other patients that it's critical that they give up smoking a certain amount of time before the surgery and after because of health and healing issues. Good luck. -
My doctor hasn't said specifically, only that it'll cause you to get drunk faster and to be careful. I don't drink alcohol so it's not an issue for me.
