I promise you it gets better. Hang in there. You've just been through a major surgery. Show yourself some love.
-
Yes, same thing here. Crystal light makes it go down better.

That's GREAT! Way to go!
-
Yes, it gets noisy, doesn't it? LOL!

Chapstick, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion.

You're right, those stalls are hard but these forums help keep them in perspective and provide support.

I never really had any. I guess we all respond differently.

Now that surgery part is over...

Take care. You've gone through the roughest part now. It gets better from here. Good luck on your WLS journey. -
Odd pains - not sure if I should be worried
GradyCat replied to OzCaz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'd say at six weeks out you're still healing. Food will sometimes feel funny and also there's that main stitch from the incisions, so those are probably the reasons for the pain. Take care. -
I'm glad they were cautious and checked you out prior to surgery. Good luck on your WLS journey.

July 9th 2019 is the BIG day!
GradyCat replied to Jennifer P's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Why isn't he supportive? That's a shame. You need a good support system. My husband has been nothing but wonderful. Are you on your two week pre-surgery diet now? Some doctors have it restricted calorie, some have it liquid for two weeks prior to surgery. Be sure to comply with whatever your surgeon told you so that your liver isn't fatty. Hang in there, you can do this, we'll support you here in this forum. Good luck with your WLS journey. Take care. -
I like Pure Protein chocolate bars, but I also now like Optimum Nutrition Protein Cake bites.

How long is protein powder good for after opening it?
GradyCat replied to Lovin2lose's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I found an answer to your question on Livestrong.com, "Protein powder is designed to last, with many brands staying fresh for up to two years past the manufacturing date. Any protein powder you buy will be labeled with an expiration or best if used by date. Using your protein powder after its expiration date is akin to drinking milk after it has expired." -
It never hurts to get a copy and get it to your surgeon to make sure they have it.

2 week pre-op liquid diet
GradyCat replied to AnnieD78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week was pretty easy because you don't really want to eat and you're still recovering. The second week you'll start wanting some texture and get a little hungry, but it's perfectly doable and not that bad. Just keep sipping, sipping, sipping on stuff all day long. -
That's wonderful news that you got a surgery date. Good luck with your WLS journey.

Not much weight loss 😔
GradyCat replied to Kashi87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not just you. I'm 6 1/2 months post-op and only lost 35 pounds and been stuck within the same 2 pounds for 2 months. I'm just waiting for this stall to end. I'm eating right, exercising, getting in protein, and drinking water. I don't get it. -
Good luck on your WLS journey.

2 week post surgery
GradyCat replied to mildredmoncada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 9-12 pounds during the first two weeks. -
Boy if you and I knew that answer we could make a million dollars in weight loss science! 🙂

I know it feels like a letdown, but look at the upside. You're only 200 pounds and your BMI isn't that bad. It might be something your doctor and the insurance company feels you can work on without surgery. You sound like you have a lot of get-up-and-go and are determined, so I bet you can do this. You've got this! Hang in there.

Just when I thought I had no more questions - clear liquids question!!
GradyCat replied to KarenLR75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought the same thing. The color only matters when they're going inside to look at things. You can have any color or flavor that you want. Enjoy! -
You've done a GREAT job preparing yourself for this knee replacement surgery by losing weight. Good for you!

Best wishes for your surgery today and good luck on your WLS journey

Sometimes those little bumps are water weight and reaction to salty snacks we've had and they'll go down in a couple of days. But you know what to do, keep track of what you're eating, stop the snacking, stick to protein. It'll be easier on your cruise because you can stick to three meals a day with no snacking in between. You've got this! You can do this!
