Anxious for Final Weigh-in
GradyCat replied to RoseQuartz56's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm proud of you for the weight that you DID lose. -
I took all my pills by swallowing them starting the day I got home from the hospital post-op. I haven't had any trouble.
-
What meats are you eating 6 weeks post op
GradyCat replied to kitty0422's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At six weeks post-op I was same as now (7 months post-op) and could eat chicken and hamburger, salmon, and tuna. I still can't eat steak or sausage. -
It'll be over before you know it. Are you having sugar-free pudding, sugar-free popsicles and lots of variety of liquids to keep it interesting?

Stalls are a natural part of the weight loss process. Hang in there. Keep doing all the things you're supposed to be doing like eating protein, getting in your water, and maybe get some walking in.

Concern questions for post-op
GradyCat replied to Deegirl31's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HAIR LOSS: I haven't lost any more since having the surgery. I already had thyroid problems and thin/fine hair, so I was worried about losing anymore. I've been taking Biotin pills and using Nioxin and Minoxidil and have actually gained some hair. TOO THIN: Probably not anything to worry about. Our bodies self-regulate. LOOSE SKIN: So far mine has stayed elastic, even at my age (54). There are plastic surgeries to take care of that after you lose the weight if it's a problem for you. DEHYDRATION: I've never had a problem getting in way more than 64 oz of fluid each day. I sip, sip, sip all day long. -
Maybe this can help someone.

Thanks for sharing! Good luck on your WLS journey. -
My husband is diabetic and has chronic pain, so he did a lot of research and decided he wanted to try "The Carnivore Diet" to reduce his A1C/sugar and also reduce his chronic inflammation. He's been very supportive of my WLS and efforts, so I wanted to support him too, so I'm doing it with him. I started Sunday, he started yesterday. I'd been in a stall or had somehow ended up in maintenance for the last two months, so I'm willing to try ANYTHING to get the weight loss moving again. I've already lost 3 pounds in 2 days, so that's a good start. I was shocked because I had double the usual number of calories yesterday (1350 instead of 775) but maybe my body was in starvation mode and I needed to up the calories to lose weight. The "Carnivore" Diet is very similar to Atkins or Keto, but you basically just eat meat and drink water. It's a zero carb diet. Now I know that the ultimate answer is "all things in moderation," but I think that for the short-term, like 30 or 60 days, I can do this, maybe lose some weight, support my husband and get healthier.

I stayed between 600 and 800 calories

Has anyone gained the weight back?
GradyCat replied to freshair's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congratulations on your new baby! Have you tried going back to your original post-op diet? -
I just did regular old chicken noodle out of a can

You might need to make a phone call to your doctor. I never experienced this and it doesn't sound routine or normal. Like others said, maybe too much carbonation, but you're better off getting checked and being better safe than sorry

It IS exciting, isn't it? You're gonna do GREAT! For the first two weeks you'll be on liquids, then when on purees there shouldn't be any reason you couldn't puree the fruit you want.

Started on The Carnivore Diet
GradyCat replied to GradyCat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@fluffychix I accidentally got about 7 ounces the other day and realized I'd made a mistake, gotten overzealous. I try to limit it to 4 but I could probably "comfortably" handle 6 oz -
I track my measurements monthly in MyFitnessPal
-
I didn't have a single complication.

Started on The Carnivore Diet
GradyCat replied to GradyCat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@fluffychix sometimes I "fudge" things on MyFitnessPal and when I've already entered something for one meal that I have again later as another meal or snack, instead of entering it twice, I just double the first entry, so it looks like I'm eating more in that one meal than I really am but it's correct for the daily total -
Started on The Carnivore Diet

I lost 6 pounds the first 7 days. Now starting Week 2. Hubby lost 11 pounds in 7 days. Not bored at all. Not hungry. Not grumpy. No cravings. Hubby had a little bit of digestive distress on the first two days because he hadn't been dieting at all before that but I didn't have any trouble. I guess his system was in shock from sugar and carb withdrawal and heavy onslaught of protein. Here's a sample of what I ate/drank the last couple of days: -
Don't worry about the weight loss at this point. Your body is still healing. Just stick with the program and the weight will come off. No, I didn't have any problems on the puree stage.
-
It's only two weeks, you can do this, you've got this, it's just one last thing to do before your surgery. Hang in there!

Asking older sleevers, did I make a mistake?
GradyCat replied to gabybab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You've lost a fair amount already, so no worries. Just keep on track with eating the right food. I was in a stall for 3 months and it's finally broken loose. I only lost 10 pounds in 3 months. It's okay. The weight will come off. -
I still prefer Cacique full-coverage briefs.
