7 Pounds from Goal......
GradyCat replied to Myhorseisfattoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Way to go! So close! You know it slows down as you get closer to goal, right? I'm just getting out of a 10 week stall! -
Found out what happens if you don't eat every few hours
GradyCat replied to Ellf's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yeah, I eat something, no matter how small, every 3 hours. -
Great success! Keep up the good work!

How many of you are monitoring your progress with your measurements in addition to watching the progress on the scale? Mine aren't changing much in the last little bit, but here's how they've changed since before and after the sleeve. BEFORE SURGERY 7 MONTHS POST-SLEEVE Neck 17 Neck 16 Chest 48 Chest 44 Arm 16 Arm 13 1/2 Waist 43 Waist 41 Hips 50 Hips 45 Thigh 32 Thigh 25 Calf 15 Calf 15 I've also gone from a size 18/20 to a size 14.

Monitoring Measurements
GradyCat replied to GradyCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it hasn't been too bad. I lost 6 pounds the first week and 1 pound the second week. Hubby lost 11 pounds the first week and hasn't weighed in yet today for his second week. It's been easy to follow. The best part is Hubby's fasting glucose has been 91 and 92 instead of the usual 130's or higher. This diet has helped me break out of my stall. It's convinced me that I wasn't eating enough and now with more calories I am finally losing weight. -
How to choose a realistic goal weight
GradyCat replied to ValerieInMexico's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I worked off the chart and thought "120" was a good number, but with my age (54) it just isn't realistic anymore and my cardiologist told me 140 was the right number. -
Don't worry, you're too soon into the post-op process now to worry about weight. Just focus on healing. The weight will come off. Get at least 64 oz of water each day and 60 g of protein and just follow the program.

Don’t want to leave my house.
GradyCat replied to AnnieD78's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many of us can relate to how you're feeling. But post-op you'll start losing weight and gain confidence and energy and you'll enjoy going out and living life again. I promise! -
Pre Operation Diet Question!
GradyCat replied to RoseQuartz56's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the jello would be okay, or even sugar-free popsicles, but not the pudding. -
9 weeks out- Stalled and panicking.
GradyCat replied to Fazzini Bee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 10 week stall and thought I was in maintenance even though I thought I was doing everything right, getting in my protein, exercising, getting in water, 800 calories/day. Then I started on a "diet" with my husband, sort of like Atkins, and I'm eating MORE calories and the weight is finally dropping again. Maybe I was in starvation mood with too few calories? Bottom line is that stalls are frustrating but inevitable and you can't give up but have to keep following the program. -
Calcium Citrate and Vitamin D3
GradyCat replied to Ellf's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My surgeon recommended both, so I take both. -

That's an excellent way to break down your goals into smaller increments. -

How long until you went out to dinner?
GradyCat replied to AnnieD78's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
As soon as I was on solid foods, we went out to restaurants. 4-5 weeks. -
Weights vs measures
GradyCat replied to Darktowerdream's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I posted about measurements yesterday. They're a good way to track success other than just the scale. Mine haven't had a lot of movement in the last 6 weeks even though I've lost weight, but overall they've changed. Plus, I haven't exercised in 3 weeks because of the heat wave, so I guess I need to get back to toning up at the gym. -
Stomach Ache & Diarrhea
GradyCat replied to girlonfire22119's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's true, even in Europe you could have picked up a bug or something, so that might be it. Have you taken Immodium? If it persists, see your doctor. -
It's tough when a loved one is going through something that you want to help them with but they are in denial that they need help. On a side note, I did find that after my sleeve surgery I was becoming more critical (inside my head, not saying it out loud) of my husband's poor food choices, but the truth is I was eating the same way he was before surgery. When we're healing and making good food choices, it makes the negative ones of those around us more prominent in our minds. It does sound like he's going through depression. His pills aren't going to help him if he doesn't take them. Can you suggest he see his doctor/psychiatrist?

Sorry to hear that. Should you give a call to your surgeon just to ask?
-
Good luck on your WLS journey

Are you still in pain? I hope you recover soon.

Needy worry wart newbie here!
GradyCat replied to Deegirl31's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
None of that happened to me. I have no trouble getting down protein or water and my tastes haven't changed that much. -
Liquids are different from foods, so you don't have to worry so much about size. Sip, sip, sip all day long. It takes me about 45 minutes to drink my 14 oz protein shake in the mornings

I get the soft chews from GNC

I am scared to get GERD, please give me advice
GradyCat replied to AchieveGoals's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had GERD for many years before WLS surgery. I had the sleeve 7 months ago. Now I no longer have GERD.
