Anti depressants
GradyCat replied to Sharon B A's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
That doesn't sound like good advice from your surgeon. If you have Depression or Anxiety, WLS isn't going to change that and you'll still need your medication. Yes, I still take mine. I have to. And my psychiatrist explained that they'll still absorb just fine and be effective and aren't affected by the WLS. -
10 Week Post-Op Stall?
GradyCat replied to Ruby Hernandez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't beat yourself up or worry about doing something wrong. Stalls just happen. Your body can't lost weight consistently and it is adjusting and transitioning from the surgery and from being in steady weight loss for 10 weeks. Stalls are inevitable. Just be patient and it'll pass. -
Lunch Meeting 1 week Post Op
GradyCat replied to 2ndTimeFreedom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You ate solid food just one week post-op? Be careful! -
You can do it. Glad you're still hanging in there and sticking with the program.

10 days Post Op 27lbs down!
GradyCat replied to Jps83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It varies from person to person and also depends on your age, how much you weighed to start with, etc. Congratulations on your rapid weight loss, but be sure to have realistic expectations going forward. -
Hair loss post surgery
GradyCat replied to JSSteinman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I already had thin, fine hair due to thyroid issues anyway, but I haven't noticed any additional hair loss since WLS. I'm taking biotin gummies everyday, using Nexium shampoo and conditioner, and using Minoxidil to prevent any further hair loss. -

2 weeks post op- and I have a head cold- HELP!
GradyCat replied to MommaBearOf5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have more luck with premade protein shakes than the powder ones. Get well soon. -
I think they block the fat from the things you eat and burn it to prevent you from gaining it. I could be wrong, but that's how I THINK they work.

Wishing you the best and a speedy recovery. Good luck on your WLS journey

If you're eating enough protein and not a lot of high-fat foods, would a fat burner supplement really do any good?

How many days in between each diet visit for insurance?
GradyCat replied to smb123's topic in Insurance & Financing
It's my understanding that it has to be no more than 30, right around 30, must be every 30 days. -
gastric sleeve consult yesterday
GradyCat replied to luvpenguins's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had about 7 months from the time I went to the initial seminar about WLS until surgery date and I used that time to start eating healthier, eating smaller portions, and practicing what it would be like post-surgery. You'll be able to eat anything you want, just not everything you want. Smaller portions, better choices, but plenty of variety. -
I take GNC soft chew vitamins

Sleep Apnea worries, child mad I’m getting the surgery...words of advice/encouragement needed
GradyCat replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had Sleep Apnea and went through both endoscopy and sleeve surgery just fine, no problems. But guess what? 3 months after WLS I had lost enough weight to no longer have Sleep Apnea. It's normal for a child to worry about his parent underdoing any type of surgery. Reassure him with the favorable statistics out there and tell him about this forum with thousands of people who successfully underwent the surgery. -
Cost of surgery -- WOW
GradyCat replied to 2ndTimeFreedom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That doesn't sound at all right. Mine was around $25,000. -
I’m having surgery tomorrow and I just want to know...
GradyCat replied to 12345shs16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm worried that you haven't even had the surgery yet and you're already counting down the days to foods that likely got you into trouble in the first place. WLS requires major adjustments in the way you think about food and eat for the rest of your life. I eat hamburgers now, 7 months post-op, but without the buns. I don't eat pizza. You'll always be able to order something to socialize with your friends - a chicken breast, a salad, salmon -- something healthier. You'll be able to eat solid foods about a month after surgery. -
How'd it go?
