Wanting to eat everything before surgery. Help!
GradyCat replied to Dee2938's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started dieting, or rather eating like a post-op patient about a month or two before actually having the surgery. That way I was mentally prepared for the type of eating I would need to do for the rest of my life. Be careful with those food funerals. -
Don't drive yourself crazy, the Weeks 3/4 Stall is Inevitable. Everyone gets it. Stop weighing for a couple of weeks. It'll pass.

I've had that experience at the chain Beef O'Brady's where they wouldn't let me order off the kids menu. This was before I had WLS. But if you've noticed, most things on the kids menu are stuff you don't want anyway like mac and cheese, corn dogs, pizza, and french fries.

Thanks for the link. My surgeon never mentioned this. I'm going to order one.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You handled your stress-eating challenges like a champ!

The wonderful compression stockings
GradyCat replied to PEGGO's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't given any or required to wear them either in the hospital or after discharge. -
3 pounds is probably either water or lack of bowel movement. Don't fret over it. Just stick with the program.

Hooray for you! Way to go!

I get sleeved tomorrow 😳..All I can think about is possibly Remission
GradyCat replied to Yentelema's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 8 months post-op sleeve and I don't take high blood pressure medicine anymore. -
The dreaded Weight loss Stall
GradyCat replied to texasnewf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes perfectly normal while perfectly sucky. -
I've seen several here who have had "food funerals" so I think it's normal. I was too scared and wanted to start changes in advance, so I was already following the post-op program even before surgery.

I prefer room temperature to slightly cool but not cold and I sip, sip, sip all day long, no chugging.

should i intervene?
GradyCat replied to mousecat88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No, it's a drinking problem. He needs help, but calling his bariatric office isn't going to trigger the help he needs. He needs an intervention. -
Are you drinking anything carbonated? If so, avoid that. Are you pooping okay? If not, try Miralax or Milk or Magnesia. Sip slowly when you drink your water.

This is a good place to vent. Sorry the doctor treated you like this.

Backsliding... What do I do?
GradyCat replied to bookworm1983's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Stick with tracking your food every day in something like MyFitnessPal.com, that way you can see when the calories are getting too high and you'll know you're eating too much. Stay away from the cookie and cracker aisle at the grocery store when you shop. Just remember why you had the surgery in the first place. -
Stomach Cramps when eating
GradyCat replied to tarab_14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It shouldn't be that way. Maybe check with your doctor. Are you eating too fast or too much? -
4 Months - First notable plateau
GradyCat replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Been there, done that. No worries. It's not over. I am still working the program. -
Has your anxiety just started since your surgery? Your profile says you're pre-op. What's causing your anxiety?

Welcome to the forums! Glad to have you here to share your experiences with us.

Hooray for you! -
Has anyone else felt this way?
GradyCat replied to Miss.ferby's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
But even having WLS means you have to have discipline afterward and eat healthy for a lifetime of changes. Surgery isn't the magic bullet everything thinks it is. It doesn't cut the fat out and make it go away overnight. There's still a lot of work to it. So be proud of yourself for making this life change. -
Are you pre-op? Post-op? Which surgery? Sodas and carbonated beverages cause bloating. So does peanut butter and over-carbing.
-
Never heard of it before.

vomiting/dry heaving excessively
GradyCat replied to Jdymitc's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think you're having what we call here in these forums "the foamies." It's when you throw up mucus but not food. It happens when your stomach doesn't agree with something you put in it. It's a warning signal to not eat that particular thing. I am 8 months post-op sleeve and still can't eat bread, soft tortillas or steak without getting the foamies, so I avoid them.
