Foods you can no longer tolerate
GradyCat replied to MrsRobinson4411's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm a year out from gastric sleeve and there are still several foods that I cannot eat: bread, soft tortillas, anything "doughy" potatoes fills me up too quick pasta fills me up too quick steak is too dense -
Wishing you a speedy recovery and best wishes for the holidays and a happy, healthy 2020
-
Have you checked in with your doctor's nutritionist to establish an eating plan and goals?
-
You're not using a straw, are you? Sounds like you're getting too much air. Take little sips.

Everybody stalls in Week 3 or 4. It's normal. Don't sweat it. Don't be in a hurry, you just had the surgery. It'll happen.

This week marks my 1 year Surgiversary. I didn't do as well as I could have, but I'm happy with where I am and I know I can get back on the weight-loss trend. I haven't gained any back, but just stayed steady for many months. I am so much healthier now a year later, no sleep apnea, no high blood pressure, no GERD. It was a good decision for me.

Me too, I started at Halloween with some candy and then now at holiday times got a tin of those European chocolate cookies at Sam's. But now I'm done. Been back on the wagon for 4 days.

I would think so, as long as it's below 30 calories and not carbonated.
-
Good luck. Like sillykitty said, Care Credit is a viable option.
-
Sorry you're going through this. Food should be enjoyable. There are still some foods I can't eat, but I can eat more foods than not.

Definitely eat before you go and bring your own protein snack or something in your purse or pocket to snack on if you get hungry during the party. Drink water or diet coke.

Liver cleanse weight loss
GradyCat replied to ANGELA0680's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You mean the liver shrinking pre-op 2 week diet? I think maybe 3 pounds. -
I've always had problems sleeping, so I can't really relate it to being surgery-related. I know I got NO SLEEP while in the hospital because there was always somebody coming into the room doing something and then when I first got home I was up at odd hours in the middle of the morning. But I eventually got back to sleeping regular hours.

I'm 9 months post-op and can't eat bread, steak, soft tortillas or pizza without getting the foamies.
-
Just stay hydrated.
-
You're still healing, so it's bound to be off-normal.
-
Good luck tomorrow! Yes, I was allowed protein shakes the day before the surgery. I wasn't on a liquid diet pre-op, but was on a calorie-restricted diet.
-
No, I haven't experienced that.
-
I can’t find the right protein shake!!!
GradyCat replied to VSG.girl19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love premade GNC Lean Shakes. Also good at Atkins Plus Protein shakes, both chocolate and vanilla. Premades. -
I lived on protein shakes, sugar free pudding, Campbells chicken soup minus the noodles, and sugar free popsicles.

Pre and Post surgery resources
GradyCat replied to SassyTwin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like using MyFitnessPal to track my daily exercise, water intake and food intake. It's free. It tracks calories, fat, protein, sodium, etc. It keeps me accountable. -
Accepted into the bariatric program... Again.

Good luck on your WLS journey. I don't remember having any fears. -
Off some medication already!
GradyCat replied to Findaway's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine has. 9 months post-op and I no longer take Blood Pressure Medicine or Omeprazole for acid reflux/GERD. -
I was pretty sure I wanted bypass, but both my psychologist, primary doctor, and psychiatrist said the sleeve was a better option for me, so I did sleeve. It was easy-peasy.
-
I had a hiatal hernia prior to VSG surgery and has been on Omeprazole for GERD and Acid Reflux for years. I no longer have GERD or Acid Reflix post-VSG and no longer take medication for it. Hooray!
