The What Makes Me Hungry Support Thread
GradyCat replied to Fatboyslim1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Those restaurant and food commercials on tv trigger me. -
You won't need the PJs because they'll have you wired up to a heart monitor in the pocket of your hospital gown and it's hard to navigate to change into something else with that and your IV in your arm. Chapstick is a good idea. You shouldn't need a blanket. I also brought: chapstick, cell phone with charger, toothbrush, toothpaste and body lotion (your skin dehydrates after surgery).

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD
GradyCat replied to Serengirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for starting this thread. I blame myself a little bit, even though my eating was under control with portion sizes, I could have done more exercise and not gone overboard through the holidays. But I'm confident that the surgery was a good decision and that it's not too late for me to work the program, so I've recommitted to eating right (lowering my calories by 200/day) and get more exercise and so far this year it's going great. But you're right, while I'm really happy for the successes of people who seem to lose 100 pounds overnight, I am also jealous/frustrated by it when it doesn't happen for me too. To thanks for creating a place for us to vent. -
Esophagus/stomach discomfort 2+months post op
GradyCat replied to Aly61's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If I eat too much or the wrong foods (bread, tortillas) I get an uncomfortable full feeling from stomach up to throat and sometimes get what we call here "the foamies" where you throw up mucus but not food. Best to stop before you get that feeling by watching your portion sizes. -
What Pain Medications Are Prescribed
GradyCat replied to BecomingAnna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it helps any, I had ZERO pain. I never took any of the pain meds in the hospital after surgery and they sent me home with something like Hydrocodone (Tylenol 3) but I NEVER used any of it. There was no pain ever. -
I'm a year out from sleeve surgery and I have lost 65 pounds, but could have done better. Highest Weight: 260 Pre-surgery Weight: 235 Weight Now: 194

You might want to make slower incremental jumps in calories.
-
I used Bio-Oil on them for the first six months post-op and now they are still there but very faded and small. I think it helped.

Are you going to see your nutritionist and work on getting the weight back off? Are you still doing the diet program of 80 g of protein, 64 oz of water, and below 1000 calories?

1 week clear liquid, how much did you lose?
GradyCat replied to alissajs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have to do the clear liquid diet pre-op, my surgeon has her patients to < 1500/calories/day for two weeks pre-op. I did lose some, but I don't remember how much. I also, of course, lost post-op on liquids for two weeks, but again I don't remember how much. -
You can do chair yoga and other seated exercises like weight lifting and range of motion exercises for your arms, using bands, etc.
-
You might want to talk to your surgeon's office. You shouldn't be nauseous like that or having that much trouble keeping things down. Sounds like you know how to stick with the program in terms of protein, calories, and water intake. Good luck with your weight loss journey.

It's not time to panic yet. Your body can go a few days without a bowel movement. Try Milk or Magnesia or something like that and keep sipping, sipping, sipping water. It'll happen.

GradyCat replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to lose 30 more lbs. Haven't lost any in six months, so I'm re-motivated and back on track for 2020. -
Supplement’s and strengths needed for post menopausal gastric bypass patients
GradyCat replied to polishanita's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm 55 and one year post-sleeve and don't take anything extra than what the doctor recommended for all bariataric patients. I take a multi, B12, Calcium, and Vitamin D. -
A good start to the new year
GradyCat replied to Lynda486's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
That's great, way to go, congratulations! -
What do you do to get back on track?
GradyCat replied to Polishanita1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I remember why I did the surgery in the first place. I weight everyday. I track everything I put in my mouth. I exercise. I'm getting back on track too after a brief hiatus and 3 lb weight gain. -
Um, sorry but gas after surgery
GradyCat replied to brooksbrittanyanne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It seems like I remember them saying something about sleeping on your left side with your legs pulled up and/or using warm compresses? -
got a question for experienced sleevcers????
GradyCat replied to november11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, go ahead and hit the gym, but don't ramp up your calories. Keeping up the good work getting up in your protein and water. Stick between 600-800 calories for now. -
That's right. No red jello.

10 years post-op - weight gain question
GradyCat replied to c566's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry for all that you've been through. I lose at around 800-1000 calories or less and maintain at up to 1300 calories/day. -
Revision Surgery Scheduled
GradyCat replied to Mark.olypenn's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I know nothing about the band. I didn't realize you could have it in so long. I thought it was short-term. Good luck with your surgery. -
Oh, perhaps you need to recline in a chair or prop up with pillows in bed to avoid this choking

How to get rid of your big clothes
GradyCat replied to AJ Tylo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh, that's hilarious! Seriously, though, I donated mine to St. Vincent de Paul. That's where I bought all of my transition clothes too.
