    Quantity of food

About 5 times a day, but only twice a day at 1/2 cup, the other times are small "snacks" at maybe 1/4 cup
  2. I use GNC premade Lean Shakes that are lactose free, would that work?

    Sleeve ba. bypass

I was leaning toward the bypass, but my other health care providers were pushing me toward a sleeve as "less invasive" which didn't make sense to me because they're cutting out half of my stomach! So I ended up choosing the sleeve.
  4. It's largely determined by your insurance carrier and your surgeon's office. I went through Medicare, so I didn't have to do the six months of weight loss first before approval. Most commercial insurances require that. But mine still took 9 months to get records, have evaluations, etc.

    Stomach stretching

I've not heard of needing to be stretched before. Good luck.
  6. Oh yes, it happened to me too. FYI there's a "slow loser" thread in the forums. I stalled after six months. Then I got frustrated and ate some cookies and doughnuts and gained a few lbs (less than 10) but now at a year post-op I'm back on track and losing again. I think my body needed the break.

    Quantity of food

I stay under 1/2 cup per meal.
  8. It'll be a piece of cake, which by the way, you shouldn't have for a while. LOL! Good luck on your weight loss journey.

    COUNTDOWN BEGINS

A lot of people have those "food funerals" like you said, so don't worry about it. I did a two week calorie-restricted diet pre-op for liver-shrinking purposes and everything turned out fine.

    What the Prep...

Goodness, you seriously stocked up, didn't you? Most days I drink a premade chocolate protein shake for breakfast, I eat out lunch, something like a grilled chicken breast with cheese on it, then for dinner I eat two slices of ham and one slice of cheese rolled up without bread. My snacks are miniature Kind bars or Lily's chocolate or Moon Cheese.

    Not sure

You'll have some water weight gain from the carbs, but it's not the end of the world. Just stick to protein and watch those carbs going forward.

    Difficulty eating

Not sure about the nausea, but the Week 3 and Week 4 stall is VERY common. 500 calories/day is fine. You can live on that.

    Coping Mechanism?

That's a great way to maintain a relationship with food without eating it. Good for you.

    Hungry

I'm almost never hungry, even a year out from sleeve surgery, but I still have "head hunger" and triggers sometimes.

    Officially

You'll feel so much better when you get home. You'll be able to rest without constant hospital interruption. You won't be nauseous any longer. You'll step on that scale and be like "Wow!"

    Happening so fast

That's a good thing. Good luck on your weight loss journey.
  17. Have you had your one month follow-up appt with your surgeon yet? He/she should look at those incisions. Mine healed fine, so I don't know what they would do if there's a problem.
  18. Good luck with your decision and possible revision. You're a success!

    Seattle, WA

That's nice of you. Good luck with your local support group.
  20. Oh how awful! The "my son is already thinner than me" is a telling piece of information that she's jealous and unhappy with her own weight. She's taking it out on you, but it's not really about you. Hang in there.

    breadBREADbreadBREADbreeeaaadd

I'm a year post-op and still can't eat bread because it gives me the "foamies." I consider that a blessing to keep me from eating it. One less food to make me fat.
  22. Thanks for sharinb, but I'm not going to click on the links, it would trigger me. I get triggered with food commercials on tv.

    Turkey Chili

Thanks for the review. I always worry about chili because of hidden sugars and carbs in the sauce.
  24. As long as your doctor didn't scold you, I guess it's okay. It's unusual to eat solid food that quickly as your stomach is still healing, but glad it is working out for you.
