Abdominal Binder Post Op, how long?
GradyCat replied to breavsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have to wear one/didn't get one. -
Surgery in two weeks...
GradyCat replied to TattooedSeaStar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
EmergenC or Elderberry Syrup will help boost your immune system and keep your healthy. Use a mask if you go out around people but mostly stay away from people. -
Oh no, those new year insurance changes can be a pain. Good luck.

Frustrated with "I know someone who gained it all back" reactions
GradyCat replied to Basham53's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm sure it's frustrating but it would inspire me to not become one of those statistics and keep me on the straight and narrow -
I used Pinterest. There are loads of post-bariatric recipes out there.

I have two female friends, one is 77 and one is 53 who have never been married or in any kind of serious live-in relationship or anything. My brother is 58 and has never been married or lived with anyone although he's been "dating" the same woman for 15+ years.

Powder Protein, Unflavored
GradyCat replied to MrsRobinson4411's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I've never tried that. Is this for you to find more ways to get protein in? -
It's pretty normal. Your new stomach is still healing and adjusting to having things put in it. Give it a week longer.

Silicone tape vs silicone sheets?
GradyCat replied to rs's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I used BioOil for the first 9 months and I thought they faded pretty well, but I'd like to diminish them further if possible -
Silicone tape vs silicone sheets?
GradyCat replied to rs's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Do they only work within a short time of having surgery or can you use them later too, like a year post-op, or is that too late? -
ONEDERLAND I LOVE YOU - FINALLY 😀

Woot-Woot! Congratulations! Way to go! -
I was approved for surgery. Good vitamins and protein shakes?
GradyCat replied to RachaelEM's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For this whole year post-surgery I've been using premade chocolate GNC Lean Shakes. I don't like using the powders, I prefer the premade. I also use GNC vitamins, soft-chews and they've not made me nauseous or anything because before surgery whenever I'd take regular vitamins, they'd make me sick to my stomach. These don't. -
My sense of smell was already like that before surgery, so I can relate. I had read that your sense of smell and taste can change post-surgery. I wear a scarf a lot so if I'm in a store or restaurant with strong food smells or somebody's strong perfume, I can cover my face to avoid the smell.

Pain swelling so much pain
GradyCat replied to danny29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You just had surgery, it'll all get better within 2-3 days. You're in the hospital, the're giving you pain medication, it'll all be fine. Just hang in there. -
I don't know a lot about vegetarian and vegan or the difference between the two, can you have eggs and cheese? Those are good sources of protein.

You fit right in with the rest of us. I poured over this site both before and after surgery and it continues to be a source of information and support for me. Welcome to this site and good luck on your weight loss journey.

I was 54 when I had it last year and everything has turned out fine. I've lost 65 pounds, probably could have lost 80 or more, but I still have hope for this year to lose another 20.
-
That's good to know. I eat a few almonds each day but didn't know it helped with staying regular.

It just happens, so know it isn't anything you're doing wrong. Stick to the program with your protein and water and it'll pass, I promise.

How long does surgery take?
GradyCat replied to Tiredmimi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surgery itself takes 45 minutes to an hour, I think. But of course you have to get there an hour or more early to get prepped and checked in and everything and it takes a while to wake up in recovery, so overall it takes maybe 3 hours. -
Never felt this depressed before
GradyCat replied to Rosy89's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's only been two weeks and surgery and anesthesia probably released some hormones that are making you more emotional than usual. It gets better. Hang in there. -
I had to look up what "thermage" was as I wasn't familiar with the term. I'm getting turkey neck too, but I'm turning 55 in two weeks, so maybe it's just my age.

10 days post-op and eating well.
GradyCat replied to Slimming Down Steve's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Glad things are going well for you. I'm surprised you can eat that much, but if it works for you, that's great. -
I just met with the nutritionist and she didn't say anything was weird with that. I eat about 1,000 calories/day.

Definitely one of those Non-Scale Victories (NSV's). Congrats and good luck on your weight loss journey.
