I get mine at Walgreens or Kroger now for about $6/bottle.

I was about your size same before Sleeve surgery and I've lost 60 lbs and have NO EXCESS SKIN. Now naturally if I'd have gone on to lose 100 lbs I might have experienced that, but even at my minimal 60 lb loss I am much healthier, my blood pressure and blood sugar are GREAT and I am in smaller clothes and I am happy.

Ways to deal with stress?
GradyCat replied to Suzi_the_Q's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Goodness, you really have a lot going on, don't you? I used to be a stress-eater, so I can relate. Now I get on the phone or text friends to keep me occupied and not thinking about the stressful things. And I write/interact in a social media forum online. I also use online apps like jigsaw puzzles and coloring books to relax. -
Everybody gets the Week 4 Stall. It's perfectly normal. Don't sweat it. Depending on when you're weighing yourself, water weight and if you've had a meal can drastically affect it and weight can fluctuate 3-5 lbs a day, so stop torturing yourself and stay off the scale. Weigh just once a week.

Lean protein during pre op
GradyCat replied to VSG4ababy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Different doctors have different rules. Some doctors put patients on an all-liquid diet pre-op. My surgeon just had us at calorie and fat restrictions pre-op. -
No, I didn't have that issue. I was peeing like a racehorse right away. Good luck with your healing.

You can get back on track by going back to the basics. Focus on protein, 60+g/day. Cut out sodas. Limit carbs. 1,000 calories/day. Track everything you eat (I use MyFitnessPal). GOOD LUCK!

Nice to meet you. I have been gone from this forum since June 2019 but am back again and looking forward to sharing with all of you and supporting each other.

6 Simple Ways to Gain Your Weight Back
GradyCat replied to CharlotteKat's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
That's a good list. Those are the things that caused my 10 lb weight gain. Well, that and going into Walgreens every Friday night to buy chocolate! 🙂 -
Any foods that still ( or recently ) make you sick ?
GradyCat replied to BriarRose's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Yes, I'm two years post-sleeve and I still can't eat tortillas or steak without getting the foamies and I can only eat a small bite of bread or pasta or potatoes. But that's a GOOD thing because I don't need to be eating them anyway. -
I can relate! I have been off of this forum for a year but really should have stuck with it. I kept the weight off until March when my husband got COVID but then I ate every cookie and every chocolate bar I could get my hands on. The damage was 10-12 pounds, thankfully, but I'm finally psychologically ready to get back on track. I kicked myself in the ass for gaining weight, but that didn't fix the problem and I had to remember why I had the surgery in the first place. So I started in KETO two weeks ago and have lost 4 lbs and feel like I'm headed in the right direction, even through the holidays I feel confident that I can do it. You can too!

Tendonitis, Rotator Cuffs, and Changed Physiology
GradyCat replied to GreatestLibrarian's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
This is interesting. I have frozen shoulder on the left and nerve impingement on the right and my shoulders don't have full range of motion right now. Never thought about it being weight-loss related. Very interesting. -
15 Years postop, gained but back on track
GradyCat replied to HeidiK+15yrs's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Congrats to you for being back on track! I just got back on track two weeks ago, down 4 lbs, after having said "What the hell!" and eaten all the wrong stuff (cookies and chocolate) since March with COVID. But I'm back on this forum and committed to focusing on why I had the surgery in the first place. Nobody ever said it would be easy or permanent after surgery . . . it's a lifelong battle. But at least we're equipped with help (smaller stomachs) and tools of knowledge of what to eat and what not to eat going forward. Good luck! -
I'm right here with you. I gained some COVID weight due to stress, closing of the gyms, and quite frankly just not caring for a while. I made some bad choices. But I'm back at it, refocused and never giving up. Have faith in yourself. You know what to do and how to do it and you CAN do it - - - you've got this!

My Health has to come first! No more excuses! I have held it off for ten years!
GradyCat replied to 2021NewMe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had mine December 11th two years ago and it was the perfect time to learn to focus on being with family and not the food. You have a new opportunity to be healthy and it looks like you're embracing it. Good luck with your surgery and keep us updated with your progress. -

Happy Surgiversary. Way to go! -
That's a GREAT list! Regrettably I succumbed to not exercising when the gyms closed and that's no excuse because I could have walked outside or exercised at home. Thank you for your post. It has inspired me to dust off my song list and my iPod (Yes, I still have an Ipod) and get MOVING!

Banded 10 Years Ago..... considering revision surgery
GradyCat replied to Skip111178's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Well, to be fair, it was all my fault. The sleeve did it's job. I was really struggling with COVID and the racial tension in this country (no excuse) and Depression and I was eating two giant Hershey bars a day and cookies. Sweets are my weakness. Once I quit eating the sweets, the weight started coming back off. I can't eat very much at a time. The sleeve cuts off 3/4 of your stomach so you end up with a teeny tiny stomach that can't hold much. Therefore you can't eat much at any one sitting. That being said, if you ate or snacked every few hours, it's possible you could still eat too much, but if you stuck with three meals a day and maybe one snack you'd drop the weight like crazy. On the bright side, I was able to stop myself at the 10 pounds and not gain back 20, 30 or 50. So in the long run, I've learned my lesson, I didn't regain all of my original weight, and I caught myself before I got in too deep and I'm back on track. Hubby and I are now doing the KETO diet and it's amazing how little I can eat due to the stomach size restriction. Like I said, it's a Godsend. -
Oh it's so exciting when you get a surgery date, isn't it? Pack light for the hospital, just a phone/charger, lip balm, comb, and maybe some body lotion. You won't need pajamas or anything really. You'll be pretty nauseous for 24 hours afterward. Walk as much as you can to get the gas out and keep your mind off the nausea. Be patient with yourself.

Me too. You're not alone. We're human. You know what to do to get back on track and YOU CAN DO IT! I am getting myself back on track too. Stupid COVID messed up everything, didn't it?

Banded 10 Years Ago..... considering revision surgery
GradyCat replied to Skip111178's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It's tough, isn't it? It's a lifetime struggle for many of us. I can highly recommend the Sleeve Surgery as I had it just under two years ago and lost 60 lbs or so. That being said, this year with COVID, I gained 10-12 of it back, but I just got back on track again two weeks ago and have already lost 4 lbs on KETO. What's different about dieting post-op to pre-op is that your stomach is smaller so you can't eat as much. It's your best friend and aid in dieting. As long as you're choosing the right foods with the focus on protein, the portion sizes take care of themselves and that's a huge impact on your success. I can't speak from experience as to a revision because I never had the lapband. -
