I only lost 65 pounds (so far) but my skin didn't get loose and floppy.
-
Mine never dropped any. And I'm OLD! 😀

Totally normal. EVERYBODY and I mean EVERYBODY Stalls around Week 3 or 4. It'll start moving again in no time. Don't worry and stay off the scale for a couple of weeks.

Weight regain...I don't know where to start.
GradyCat replied to Ann Parde's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I can totally relate. I'm 2 years post sleeve and gained 10 lbs back with COVID and am working now on getting it back off. It's working! I can tell you that it's possible. I am eating like I did at the beginning with focus on protein of 60 g or more per day, getting in my 8-10 glasses of water a day, limiting carbs to fewer than 10 g per day. I haven't exercised yet. I've been back on the "reboot" for 2 weeks and lost 4 lbs so that's encouraging. My stomach hasn't stretched because I can still eat very little during a meal, so that's good news. My downfall was eating sweets all the time. I'm not doing that now. I think you can do it if you just remember why you had WLS in the first place and focus on the basics. Good luck! -
I didn't have bypass, I had sleeve, but I'll share my experience. I lost 65 pounds within 4-6 months and have kept it off until COVID when I've gained 10 back but it's coming back off again now. I've basically maintained for 1 1/2 years.

A Food Funeral is when you eat anything and everything, all the bad stuff, before the surgery, because you know you're not going to get to eat it again after surgery. You pig out on junk food.

Considering surgery, BMI 34, age 48 F
GradyCat replied to MeTooToo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lifetime of struggling with our weight is real for most of us here. You saw that your child had good success with it. There's no reason you can't too. It's never too late. -
I did it for two weeks pre-op. Take it seriously. You don't want a fatty liver and for them to have to stop the surgery one you're under. No "food funerals" and junk going into this.

What to do while I wait for approval
GradyCat replied to davis29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Start eating now like you plan to eat post-surgery. Don't have a "Food Funeral" and splurge and eat a lot of junk. Document your measurements, take photos, and weigh yourself so you'll have timelines to look back on as you make your progress. -
I bought all of my transition clothes at a charity thrift store/second hand store (St. Vincent de Paul) for like $2 or $3 each and then just redonated them once I changed sizes.

Banded 10 Years Ago..... considering revision surgery
GradyCat replied to Skip111178's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
But after I think about this, I bet a lot of it has to do with whether people are diligent about taking their vitamins and supplements. I haven't missed a day of Vit. D, B12, Multi, and Calcium Citrate. -
No, there are no driving restrictions.

Wow, I hadn't heard that one. My teeth are straight and healthy and white and look lovely. No issues there. -
What does "full" feel like post sleeve surgery
GradyCat replied to shawnt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your nose will start to run when you're full. Seriously. I'm not kidding. And if you eat slowly enough you'll feel your pouch get full and you'll know when to stop. You'll know it when you feel it. -
Getting in your protein grams
GradyCat replied to skinnyfeelsgood's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Two protein shakes alone would have 50 g of protein. So that's most of it right there. -
Hooray for you! Way to go! Congrats! Keep up the good work.

You don't have to exercise EVERY day, especially not at the beginning right after surgery. Take it slow and do a little at a time. Even 10 minutes of stretching at home counts as exercise. Don't rush it.
-
You might be ABLE to do it, but SHOULD you? Stick to the timetable your surgeon gave you and take it slow. This is a marathon, not a sprint. This is a lifetime program.
-
Sip, sip, sip constantly. No big gulps or trying to get it in all at once like a meal. In future weeks you'll stick to 3 meals a day but not now just "graze" on your liquids and protein shakes all day long.

How many days did it take you to feel ok?
GradyCat replied to bufbills's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was nauseous for the first 24 hours post-op but felt GREAT immediately after that. Never felt weak or in pain or had any problems with bowel movements. It was amazingly smooth and easy after surgery and recovery was a breeze. -
It'll only last a couple of weeks, if that. Hang in there.

Thank you....it's not said enough!!

Weight Loss Stalls almost 4 weeks post op
GradyCat replied to Brittanyanne12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's TOTALLY normal. Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY stalls in Week 4. Not sure why, but it's perfectly normal. Don't sweat it. By Week 6 the weight will be dropping off again.
