What a great Christmas present to yourself! Congrats and good luck on your WLS journey.

I've never tried tofu. It's a texture thing

I didn't weigh and measure. I just did what my body could tolerate and followed the dietician's guidance on 60-70g protein, 64 oz water, etc. I can't eat much so I know that my portion sizes are correct.
-
I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling. I am two years post sleeve surgery myself. I still can't eat tortillas or bread without getting the "foamies" and steak is too dense for me. Pasta and potatoes I can only eat 2-3 bites without getting full. I do really well on meats and proteins. Have you talked to your surgeon? Maybe call their office and see what it could be.
-
You probably should cut out the snacks. Most WLS programs call for 3 meals a day and no snacks or at most 1 snack. We have to get used to eating correctly and not grazing.
-
I really loved and still love my morning protein shake for energy and vitamins and nutrients.

It varies from person to person. You have to wait at least a month for the incision to heal and not lift much. You can do small walks and stretches but hold off on cardio and strength training for about 6 weeks.

WHEN did you start REALLY WORKING OUT?
GradyCat replied to TheMoxieMama's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I started 3 months post-op and did cardio and strength training at the gym. -
That's interesting. I don't remember that. But like you said it could be toxins flushing out.

I keep reading here about the Renpho. Thinking about getting one so I can see progress other than just in terms of weight but also in muscle mass, visceral fat, water weight, etc. Might buy myself one for Christmas.

Severe allergic reation
GradyCat replied to LoreCar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh that's a shame, but at least it's topical and not affecting your breathing. I'm guessing it's going to go away when the glue dissolves within a week or so. Can you hold out until then? -
I had GERD, had the sleeve, and now I don't have GERD anymore.

Yes, it's a good way to reset. Easy peasy.

New to this... surgery is on 12/15
GradyCat replied to Lolalita's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are you just staying the one night post-op? I stayed two. They should be okay to let you drive yourself home after an overnight stay because all anesthesia should be out of your system that would impair you from driving. Oh wait, unless you're taking pain meds. You might wanna have a back-up plan. Is seltzer carbonated? No carbonation after the sleeve. Pureed black bean soup sounds good in theory, but is it high in carbs? Good luck on your surgery. Let us know how you're doing and I look forward to seeing you in the forum threads. -
That's good to know. I'll check it out. Thanks for sharing. I've been using MyFitnessPal.

Oh that's funny. I guess I was dreaming of a chocolate buffet the other night. Hahaha.

Week 3 or Week 4 ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS makes people stall. It's not you, it's just normal. Stay off the scale and stay the course of your program. It'll reboot again in a couple of weeks.
-
Hmmm, interesting. I don't remember that happening, but I remember it for a few days after surgery from the anesthesia, etc.

Nerves are getting the best of me....
GradyCat replied to lukeyo1981's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They're just quick short visits and procedures to get you to the long-term healthy you that you want to become. Keep your eye on the prize. -
I gained 10-12 pounds during COVID and I'm slowly, SLOWLY, getting it back off. But I was eating candy bars and cookies and totally disregarding my diet. Now I'm refocused on protein and water and no sweets.

The serious conversation "oh snap"
GradyCat replied to Betty1971's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
There's nothing wrong with being at 500 calories right now. He's just not used to seeing that low of a number and thinks it's weird. It's not. It's perfectly normal. Just stick with the protein and water and you'll be fine. -
Welcome to the WLS forums. You'll learn a LOT here about what to expect, how other people are coping, the challenges, the successes, all of it. Great place to be.
