I don't know why, but I never had any trouble coming off caffeine or sugar, which is weird because I LIVED on sugar. Just lucky I guess. Hang in there, you're doing great, planning ahead. You'll do fine.

Kinda sorta. We get what we call "the foamies" here whenever we eat something our stomach doesn't like or we eat a little too much. We sometimes throw up mucus.

GradyCat replied to mkgigs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh you're so young to have that. Wishing you the best and hopefully your surgery will still go as planned. -

Strange smell and taste

I haven't experienced it, but others here have talked about it so you're not the only one. -
Lost 21lbs in almost 2 months...is this good?
GradyCat replied to Bobbifaces's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Have you ever lost 21 lbs in 2 months before surgery? Probably not. So yes, it's a GREAT loss! Don't compare yourself to others. Just do what you can do. You're ROCKING it! -
2 week Liquid Diet Cheat
GradyCat replied to TexasSleeveGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can't afford your liver to be too large for the surgery. You can't cheat on this. If you're cheating now on the pre-op, what are you going to do post-op and for the rest of your life? Think about that. I'm not being mean, I'm just asking you to think about the long-term. -
My GERD went away after the sleeve. No more acid reflux, no more GERD, no more taking Prilosec.

That's brilliant! Thanks for sharing!

Anyone know of a forum for those whose surgery did not help them?
GradyCat replied to ab123.'s topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
You can talk about it here. These forums are a good place to express ourselves and our issues. -
Yes, you need the vitamins for the rest of your life. I too had a Holiday Food Party, specifically COOKIES these past several days and have gained weight. Gonna stop the day after Christmas and get back on track. Luckily my sleeve WLS prepared me and provided me the tool to do it. Ashamed of myself for gaining weight but gotta get over it and get it off again.

Hurtful reactions to progress
GradyCat replied to skyewolfe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How do I ask this? Is your mother a toxic person? Does she hurt your feelings about other things too? Is she jealous of you? You might want to talk to your counselor about how to deal with her emotional assaults. -

3 days post op.. drinking question
GradyCat replied to Vsg2020girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's real and forever. You can't eat and drink at the same time. I don't watch the clock, but I don't drink with meals. -
Hmmm, change of plans

Enjoy the ride. -
I had sleeve and I don't have any trouble with fat at all, not that I eat a lot of it, but it doesn't cause any issues.

Yes, I use truvia and splenda for baking. Equal measurements to sugar. Works great.

3 days post-op -- question about bowels
GradyCat replied to xoxomaya's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I y first one right away (I had the sleeve) while I was still in the hospital and never had a problem but for most people on here it seems to take about a week for their bowels to start moving. Colace is recommended by my surgeon if you need any help moving them. -
3 months still having difficulties
GradyCat replied to Yourbestfriend's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No, I don't think anything is wrong. I'm two year post-op sleeve and I still can't eat anything dense like steak or pork chops. I can do grilled chicken in small amounts. If you're not getting enough protein in, it's okay to still drink a protein shake. Try some scrambled eggs. -
What did your surgeon tell you? I was on liquids for 3 weeks. Most people are on them for 2 weeks. You don't want to rush anything. For texture, grab a sugar-free popsicle.
-
So sorry to hear that. I don't have any answers for you, just wanted to say that I care and I'm sorry for what you're going through. Good luck.
-
It's just the anesthesia and the major surgery you just had. Give it another 10 hours and the nausea will stop.

Do what your body tells you to do. My doctor's office doesn't do calories, they just do portion sizes and macros like grams of protein.
