Breakfast for the next months
GradyCat replied to big_ange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I still drink a chocolate protein shake every morning for breakfast. Been doing it for years pre-op, so it's just natural for me. -
I'm getting dizzy when I stand up too. I quite taking my BP medicine because it was a very light dose anyway ( 5 mg) and I barely had it and I think after losing enough weight I don't need it anymore. I mentioned it to my surgeon, the lightheadedness, and she said to increase my salt intake.

How Many Of You Are Drinking While Eating?
GradyCat replied to FluffyChix's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nope, not me. I might "sip" some water if I feel the need to wash something down, but I am definitely not drinking while eating. -
Had my surgery 4 1/2 months ago, no complications, no pain, no nausea, no problems.

Wish you had known before?
GradyCat replied to shellyk018's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would have liked to have known about the infamous Week 4 Stall, occasional other stall are normal and that I wouldn't be losing a continuous 1-2 pounds a week every single week. -
That means you're going to knock the hell out of and pass that goal like a rock star!

Laura's RNY Journey; Age 31 Starting Weight 365
GradyCat replied to Laura7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've been in a stall for a month now and it sucks. Like you said, I know I'm doing everything right but it's not budging. I'm 4.5 months post-op sleeve so I guess my body is just doing an adjustment and it'll start moving again soon. I hope so. I want to be a "loser" like you! 🙂 -
My doctor had a full schedule so it was about six weeks
-
About two weeks

I tried on some clothes in my closet and I was able to fit into a formal dress that I bought several years ago but never got to wear.
-
What made it so difficult? Was it your energy level? I remember going back to do cardio 2 weeks after surgery and having to do a little less or a little slower. And it was six weeks before I could lift weights again.
-
I've lost a microwave!

Yes, Week 4 is notorious for everyone stalling. The body just needs a break to adjust to all that's happening to it. Very common.

Some post op questions.
GradyCat replied to Teri B's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
They say you should lost 30% of your excess weight in 3 months, 50% in 6 months, and 70% in 12 months. You should have regained your energy and be able to work your shifts just fine by a month post-op. I had full energy right away. -
My best guess would be to focus on what you CAN have instead of lamenting what you CAN'T have. Stay positive. Remember how healthy you're going to be by skipping the drive-thru.

Once I had jumped through all the hoops and my surgeon's office had reviewed all of my medical records, it only took about 2 weeks to get approval once they submitted it to insurance.

Way to go! I wanna be you when I grow up!

To tell or not to tell
GradyCat replied to big_ange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, I haven't told anyone but my husband. Don't want the drama or judgmental comments. -
Need Sleeve revision but..,
GradyCat replied to Shrinking_Shamrock's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
At 171 pounds I doubt insurance would cover it and with that low of a BMI you might not even qualify for the surgery under self-pay. But that's just a guess on my part, I could be wrong. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. -
Almost 5 weeks out and feeling constantly nauseous
GradyCat replied to iliana00000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry that you're having trouble at this point. I've read where some people have a similar situation as yours. I was lucky and never had the first problem with any of it. Good luck and I hope you get better soon. -
Oh that's great!

I'm four months post-op sleeve and we eat out frequently in restaurants, but we order one entree and share it because I can't eat a whole portion of anything. We don't get any bread basket with our meal. I don't drink alcohol, so that's not even an issue for me. It's just an adjustment knowing that I can't order anything for myself and we have to share, but we still have our "dates" out to eat.

Tell me it’s not always going to be like this!
GradyCat replied to KimB7811's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get better. Hang in there. You've got to keep from getting dehydrated, so keep sipping, sipping, sipping on liquids. Have you tried Crystal Light in your water or Gatorade Zero? They might go down a little better than plain water.
