Sounds like a good idea to keep making and eating healthy meals.

It gets better. I had dermabond (no staples) and didn't have to wear a binder. I can see where that would be a little confining and maybe frustrating. I drank everything but water . . . caffeine-free diet peach tea, Gatorade Zero, water with Crystal Light, regular decaf iced tea. Look at this as a new beginning and a chance to start over.

Vitamins can be hard on your stomach. Maybe try them with some foods. I use soft-chew vitamins and they're not as hard on me.

Hang in there, you've got this! It gets better, I promise.

Can I start my purée stage a day early??
GradyCat replied to LoLo130's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I doubt one day will hurt anything, but it's also a good idea to follow the surgeon's plan. -
Good luck and take care.

Glad you're home and doing well. Take care.

Good luck with the outcome.

What was your comorbidity(s)?
GradyCat replied to Goal_Digger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My comorbidities were sleep apnea, high blood pressure -
Why are my sheets all bunched up beneath me? Oh wait, that's just my butt
GradyCat replied to MikeIL's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I haven't lost enough weight to have that problem yet but I'm using a firming cream/lotion to try to help it as much as possible as I lose the weight. -
Dry skin? Leathery feeling? Skin not as supple as before?
GradyCat replied to Alikiinz's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You really need to stay hydrated. You don't want to end up in the hospital. Try sipping every 15 minutes. And use lotion. -
Two weeks out from surgery and struggling
GradyCat replied to Duffman's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think the "head hunger" is a bigger struggle than real food hunger and it takes a while to adapt. -
It's better once you get to soft foods, then solid foods. Your stomach knows when to quit eating and you don't get real hunger anymore.

10 pounds in 3 weeks is good. You're probably going to hit a stall in Week 4. Most people do. It's normal. Don't worry about it. Just keep doing the right things.
-
Keep in mind that not only does it take up a month for approval from insurance, but your surgeon's office is probably already booking surgeries out six weeks in advance too, so it might take some time to get on their schedule.

Taking advantage of the first year
GradyCat replied to VeeAurora's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I worry about the supposed six month "honeymoon" period because I've been at a stall during all of Month 4, which means I'll have lost/wasted a month. -
I don't know for sure the correct number of carbs, I'm guessing it's a percentage of your overall calories. But I do know that if I eat ANY carbs, I immediately gain weight. It's frustrating! I'm researching now about something called "carb sensitivity." I had a taco yesterday, probably 150 calories or less, not sure how many carbs, with an overall calorie count for the day of 750, but the scale went up 1.5 pounds this morning. Stupid carbs!

1st Post-Questions about Co-morbidities Federal BCBS
GradyCat replied to tiger_mom2001's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, that sounds absolutely correct. You need a BMI of 40 or above OR a BMI of 35 with comorbidities of diabeties, sleep apnea, high cholesterol or high blood pressure. -
I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's tough. Luckily my husband has been very supportive and helpful. I didn't tell anyone else because I didn't want to have to endure the snide remarks or judgmental looks or comments like, "Why can't you do it on your own instead of doing something so drastic?" Is your mom overweight? If she isn't she probably doesn't understand your struggle.

Month Follow Up...Ready To Go Back To The Gym
GradyCat replied to Trellunit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was back at the gym doing cardio two weeks post-op. They surgeon told me to wait 6 weeks before lifting more than 10 pounds, so I waited 6 weeks before doing strength training machines -
1/2 the person I used to be
GradyCat replied to FancyChristine15's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's GREAT! -
So far I'm off two meds --- high blood pressure and GERD

There's no reason you can't have fruit.

I started doing cardio at the gym two weeks post-op, then strength training/weights 6 weeks post-op.
