Let's talk about body dysmorphia
GradyCat replied to Lochnessamber's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can relate to this before I never really felt "big" and didn't see myself as "fat" in the mirror, but the scale told me a different story from what I was seeing. Now that I've lost 50 pounds I can't see the difference from pre-op and post-op even though people are telling me "Wow, you've really lost a lot of weight." I feel bigger now than I did before the surgery. Weird, isn't it? -
Take care. You've got this!

I never actually pureed anything, I just went from liquids to soft food to solid food. I enjoyed cottage cheese, sugar-free pudding, soup broth, and sugar-free popsicles.

Caffeine Pre and Post Op!
GradyCat replied to BabettesFeast's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon never said anything about caffeine, so I would think it's okay. Sounds good. -
Yep, it's normal. It freaked me out the first time it did it because I knew I couldn't have possibly gained weight.

Starting the 3rd week of my stall
GradyCat replied to KT1981's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just finally got out of a 5 week stall and no matter how much I tried to "embrace" it I was still freaking out worried that I wasn't going to lose any more weight and was getting "behind" in pursuit of my goal. But my husband kept telling me, "it'll come off when it comes off and there's no deadline." So, stalls suck but our bodies have to adjust so we have to let them happen. Good luck. -
Glad to hear it! I didn't have any pain, problems or complications either. It's a life changer!
-
Good luck!

Yes, absolutely normal. It'll get better. Take care.

I wonder why this would start all of a sudden? Do you maybe have a cold or an allergy or something?

Nausea...does it ever go away?
GradyCat replied to Taranurse 1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Plus your emotions play havoc with you after surgery. I promise it gets better. -
Yes nuts are okay, peanuts, almonds, cashews . . .

No meds post-op? Hmmm. I know they told me no NSAIDS because of potential ulcers. I'd be a little afraid of the sugar in the honey. What about an over-the-counter throat spray instead?

I've not had a problem at all with energy since having the sleeve 5 months ago. In fact, I might even have more energy now that I've lost some weight and I go to the gym and/or walk 5-6 days a week.

I had GERD and Acid Reflux for 7 years before sleeve surgery. Now it's completely gone!

I didn't know about this, but I don't have cable. Maybe I can do something streaming with YouTube on my TV. You gave me an idea!

Amen, sister! I pray every day for God to let me to continue to lose weight and be healthy and I thank him for getting me through surgery with no complications.

But you want to make sure your heart is okay for surgery, so be careful and get another EKG and see a cardiologist and get checked out.

There are a lot of veterans here several years post-goal who are still maintaining and doing great. I hope to be one of them in the future.

Oh My Goodness!!
GradyCat replied to CharlotteWebb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a good feeling, isn't it? Congrats! -
Have some patience as it'll take time to process your paperwork, get pre-op tests, get primary doctor and/or specialist clearances, and get insurance approval. Good luck!
-
Oh my word that's a lot of pills to take every day!

Day 9 of pre surgery liquid diet. But... I want pickles! Can I have them?!
GradyCat replied to Tiffany L.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's no fat in pickles, so probably not a problem, but please try to stick to your liquid diet pre-op to best protect you for surgery. -
