Gingerness reacted to Ronnysgal in Having the reversal
I most certainly will. I am finding it difficult to eat again like normal. I catch myself stopping before I finish my meal, simply because I still view my stomach as small. This whole process has been crazy mentally, and when I eat I sit and wait for the nausea to start or the pain and it takes a minute for me to realize I can actually hold the food in, and it is not going to come up. My husband tells me you are okay, go ahead and eat, I love he is so supportive and can tell that I hesitate.
The upside is that eating the smaller amounts, as long as I am getting enough nutrition, is okay and I want to make sure that I build on that healthy habit. We went to a fast food place yesterday and I was able to eat 2/3 of the sandwich, a few curly fries, and then just stopped all of a sudden. My husband asked me what was wrong, I said nothing I am simply satisfied and don't feel the need to finish, just because it is there. His response good I am still hungry and will eat it lol. He has had to go on a diet, as he was always finishing my food, and it caught up with him.
Hopefully I will continue to maintain although I am actually hoping to gain some back. I lost 40 more lbs than I was supposed to.

Gingerness reacted to KimTriesRNY in Is gastric bypass surgery reversible at all??
It is reversible but usually only in extreme circumstances.
It is unlikely they will consider a reversal at one month post op.
Are you eating? Are you a woman still menstruating? Are you taking your Vitamins? Are you getting your fluids in?
It is common to feel tired for a time after surgery. It gets better.
If you are frequently dumping what are you eating?

Gingerness reacted to Matt Z in Just changed from Sleeve to a Bypass candidate
So much has changed in the overall process with the Bypass, those scary statistics are throwbacks to the open surgery version of the bypass. Now that they are almost all done laparoscopically and all the advancements in materials, the bypass is just as safe (for the most part) as the sleeve.

Yes, they leave the whole stomach in place, the portion that's no longer attached to the esophagus is called the "excluded stomach", it still produces stomach acids and those acids mix with the food a bit lower down the small intestines.

Between the Sleeve and the Bypass, contrary to popular misinformation, the Bypass is reversible under certain circumstances, and we actually had a member this year have reversion. The sleeve however is a done deal, once that 80+% of your stomach is cut out and thrown into medical waste, that's pretty much the end of that, there is no reversal option for the sleeve. You *CAN* be revised from the sleeve to bypass, but it's not the same as their is no stomach to convert to the "excluded stomach".

Mini bypasses are performed with only 1 reattachment instead of 2 and typically the adjusted limb is a tad shorter than with the typical bypass. "RNY" is just short for Roux-en-y, coined for the doctor that first outlined the surgery, César Roux. It's the same thing as saying "Bypass". The Duodenal switch is different, and is also know as "biliopancreatic diversion". The portion dealing with your stomach is almost the same as a sleeve, but then they detach the sleeve from the duodenum leaving your gall bladder and pancreas still attached to the duodenum and then they attach that sleeve lower into the small intestine. It's almost a hybrid of the 2 surgeries with a few subtle differences.

    Hopefully that helps you some.

I just left my surgeon's office. I am officially scheduled for December 4th!!! I'm so excited. I've decided to go with the bypass and finally feel confident with my decision because I struggled between the sleeve vs. bypass. wishing you an amazing journey. Happy Holidays to us!
