My Dr. Told me to avoid the liquid tylenol because it may cause dumping. I just crush the tylenol pills and mix it with a little bit of Gatorade.

Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Good to know- I took about 2 bottles of it the first two weeks with no issues...thankfully! My doctors didnt mention this either...sigh. Funny how different doctors are.

  2. We had surgery the same day.....I have the same feeling but I do eat. I have started to try to eat 4 times a day (but really it's just 3 meals/snack but the meals aren't super big)-- I Just eat what I can. After the scale stopped moving for about oh two weeks it started moving again this week when I changed how I was eating and tried to up my calories a tiny bit.

Are you on soft foods or what stage are you at?

So the nurse took a swab of my belly button wound. She doesnt think the rest is infected and chest sounds clear. Im coughing lots and hurts. So suppose it has got to be the healing. She said sometimes sticky stuff is produces due to the air that gets in and it can be painful.

So grin and bare it i suppose for now. Hurts to go out and move more than when i first had it done x

Take some liquid tylenol if you are not- you can find it at Walgreens .....

and if you have a heating pad try that. I did use one for a little the one day when I was just sore and achey feeling and it felt great. Feel better!

No worries, everything here is just opinions and shared experiences. Speak with your prescriber, and as usual their advice is your best options

I agree with your comments about topiramate-- i took that plus phentermine so my opinion is I would rather be dead than ever take those pills again- lost a ton of weight though- then gained it all plus back when i went off- nothing changed with my diet at first either- just started gaining.. Evil pills. IMO

We were advised at our nutrition class pre surgery that acrylics are allowed but no polish...so you have to at least remove the polish. That being said 1- you should check with your team (which you did already) and 2- you may very well not fill like going for a fill for a few weeks so you may just want to get them soaked off now and a nice manicure. Best of luck on your surgery!

oh woops- i saw your reply after I posted :( sorry!

    Hello Everyone

I have a question for anyone who has had gastric bypass recently, my surgery date is 02-25-19 should I go and have my acrylic clear nails removed prior to surgery, I left a message for my surgery dept but have not heard back yet.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Thank you. Im seeing my local nurse this afternoon. I cant believe how well u have healed. Most of my wounds have but belly button hasnt and main area is do sore. Hopefully ill get somewhere with this nurse. Thank u for answering me. Xx

Let us know how you make out please...I am definitely still healing on the inside and around 2pm I want to lay my head down and take a looooong nap in my office, but overall I feel really good.

  8. Stevia isn't bad once you get used to it. I still use splenda occassionally but overally sweet things bother me (the flavor I mean)- I can't handle anything too sweet (post op). So whichever I use, it is sparingly..... Buy a smallllll box of stevia and give it a try and if you are not post op yet, remember your tastes may change.

  9. I am 3 weeks today and I can say I feel pretty good....been at work for two weeks, doing normal activity (within reason), so if i were you i'd be banging down their door until they listen. Maybe you have an infection- your incision shouldn't be weaping at this point...mine are all fully healed and you can barely see them. I am using coconut oil on them also and it seems to be helping the scars already. So in comparison, I would definitely want to see a doctor if I were you. If they won't listen...call your PCP!

  10. I usually take whatever I have for dinner for lunch. It’s just easier for me to do that. My coworkers love when I bring fish :) but it’s such a small amount it doesn’t stink the office up lol

Im a few weeks behind you but I basically am eating ...yogurt, cottage cheese, Protein Water or Protein Shake, fish, chili, tofu, tuna in a pouch. I bring a bunch to work and keep it in a section of the fridge so I have food on hand.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Did you find a Tylenol liquid that was not Children's Tylenol?

Yes. Walgreens was the only store that had it. They have their generic brand but it’s the same. Worked great. I checked target, Walmart all grocery stores near me. Best bet is to do a lookup on their website and see what store near you carries it but if you have a Walgreens try there.

  12. So I am only 2.5 weeks post op and incredibly frustrated because the scale is moving soooo slow and not at all since Monday, however I put a sweater on today that I bought in October and it was too tight to wear. Today it is loose so 🤷‍♀️... guess I just have to trust this process and try not to obsess and stay off the damn scale for a while. Ugh !

  13. I am allowed coffe but has to be with cream and I am having a hard time with that. I hate cream etc. so I have been drinking more tea. I am not quite 3 weeks post op. I mostly drink Water. If I get tired of plain I use a little flavoring but very little. I don’t like anything that is too sweet. I drink Protein water sometimes too but I have to cut it in half with plain water.

I had my surgery on Wednesday this week and got discharged last night. The pain in my stomach feels like a combination of gas and swelling--like I was punched in my stomach 1,000 times or did 1,000 stomach crunches. Any idea how long this swollen feeling and gas will last? Is it normal to feel like this for a few weeks? A week? Just trying to figure out what the "normal" is for the tummy pain.

I had what I would consider pain for around 5 days off and on. But I used liquid Tylenol regularly and it worked great. After that I would say I was more sore and a little twinge here and there. I went back to work though at 8 days post op. I am only 2.5 weeks post op now but feel generally good. Tired! But good...

I had bypass yesterday and the nurses are not trying to get me to walk. They’re serving me ice cold Water. Im supposedly in the bariatric area of the hospital and no one seems to know how to handle my situation. I now have major congestion in my lungs. You can hear it when I barely breathe. Im
    Scared.

Ask to see the PA or your surgeon and discuss your concerns. I would tell them you want to walk- just buzz them to come help you up. Just be your own advocate and ask for whatever you need. broth , room temp Water, popsicles

tell them younfeel congested- ask for an incentive spirometer and start using it 10 times an hour or as much as you can. Just try to stay calm ...
