  1. So I had the sleeve on the 17 of December 2018. I have lost a lot. 151 since November 5, which was when I started the pre-op diet. My calorie intake has went up a bit, but I’m never over 1500 and they are healthy calories. My exercise routine has went up drastically however. Over 15000 steps every day which include lots of hiking. Over the last two weeks not have I only not lost, but I have actually gained 1 pound. Has anyone had an experience like this, and ideas what’s going on? I’m still at 374 pounds so I have a lot still lose.
  2. Thank you all for posting. Some good insight and much appreciated.
  3. I’ve got a question for everyone out there. I had the sleeve done on the 17 of December, so I just hit my one month mark. I started at 524 pounds, so bigger than most. Interesting thing though is that during the 6 week pre-op diet I lost 58 pounds. In the four weeks post surgery I have lost 21. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone have knowledge as to why this might happen? How would weight loss post surgery be so much slower then before? Post surgery has been much more restrictive than my diet leading up to surgery and I am trying to understand why.
  4. Question. I had the sleeve on Monday. I have been hungry every second since. I have been 100% faithful in staying on liquids only and will not do anything other than follow what I have been instructed as far are diet. Tonight for example I ate 16 ounces of chicken broth in 15 minutes and only stopped because I feel like I should. Not because I was full, satisfied or had any irritation, stopped only because I felt that based off everything I’ve been told that was too much. Anyone out ther have a similar experience or advice? I thought 4 ounces was supposed to be normal. I’m freaking out that there will be no difference in appetite or ability to eat too much.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I got out of surgery at around 1pm. I was up and walking by 2:30. Other gas (in weird places) I feel pretty good. Put on a couple thousand steps after surgery, they say tomorrow should be much better. I am very happy so far. Sorry to you folks who are struggling.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I am currently laying in a bed in Mexico awaiting surgery tomorrow. Pre-op diet hasn’t been all that fun, but I’m down 58 pounds in six weeks. Looking forward to the future of not being hungry all the time.
  7. I’m self paid and they are requiring that I do a two week liquid diet. Im six days in and down 14 pounds. We will see how the rest goes, surgery on the 17. I will say having an app like my fitness pal, or something like that is helpful. Not only is it liquids only, but there are protein and carb requirements as well. Getting what you need protein wise without going over on my carbs was a bit tricky. I feel like I have it figured out now, but I wish I would have spent more time planning a head of time.
  8. I’m self paid and they are requiring that I do a two week liquid diet. Im three days in and it’s not great. Day two was the hardest so far. We will see how the rest goes, surgery on the 17. 9. Thanks all, the Isolate is something I’ll have to check on. Bears are all hibernating, Rocky is legendary, raw eggs are not. Tofu.........
  10. So day one of the liquid diet is in the books.....turns out I’m not as well read as I should be and also assumed things that I ought not have assumed, for instance finding protein powders on Kodiak Island. My question is this, I need 80 grams minimum of protein per day and I am lactose intolerant. Any ideas other than dairy free protein shakes on how to squeeze that in? Keeping in mind I can’t just go to the store and pick up the plain protein powder I’ve seen explained on this forum?

One nice thing about having a lot to lose is that a lot comes off pretty quickly. Three weeks into the pre-op diet and I’m down 32 pounds. I realize that percentage wise it’s not all that much but I’m going to go a head and take the “glass half full” approach.

Thank you all for your comments. I am honestly surprised so many people favor the bypass. It’s something to think about for sure. We all have different goals too I think. I’ve been over 300 pounds since 9th grade. I’ve always been what I would call very active for my size until the last couple of years. I’m not trying to look good in a swimsuit or anything like that, I’ve always been a big guy and I am happy with that. I just want to be able to take my sons hunting and prolong this wonderful life I have a little longer. For me complications, cost, personal feelings and goals all play part in my decision.

Nope, I am all set for the sleeve. I've been looking into doing something like this for the last 10 years. I am not real keen on the idea of a bypass.
  14. I am heading down to have a sleeve in the 17 of December. As I look at the board here I am not seeing a lot of folks in my situation. I am about 530 pounds right now and I was wondering if there was anyone out there who was closer to my size that could give me some insight into how weight loss went for them after surgery?
  15. I am scheduled for the 17th as well. My wife and I will be heading down a couple days beforehand. looking at everyone else.....you all look skinny to me. I have no real goal yet.....just don't want to die!
