7 weeks post op and not hungry

I too am almost 7 weeks post op and I do get hungry, but nothing like hunger before surgery. My problem is I have zero restriction and never get a full sensation. I feel exactly the same after my meals as I did before I eat. I wait an hour before and after eating to drink. I get about 100 oz water in a day. I’m hoping down the road I get some sort of fullness feeling after eating. I always feel empty.

    Not full

I’m almost 7 weeks out and have been on solids over two weeks. I eat exactly what I’m supposed to with no water an hour before or after and I’m consuming around 100 oz water a day. Not one single time have I felt full. I feel no different after a meal then I did before I ate, zero restriction. My only rejoice is that I don’t have that deep hunger with stomach discomfort, I just feel empty all the time.
  3. Just a few hours ago I was at my therapy session, it’s a crucial aspect for me in this journey to deal with my love of food and alcohol. Anywho, as we were talking I had my leg crossed without realizing it and when I noticed I told her, “well damn, look at that I haven’t been able to do this in years” it was a great moment 😁
  4. Well thanks, congrats on your weight loss as well 😁 I had and have zero health issues as far as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipedmia, etc. just good ole’ aches and pains. I’m good with a slower rate, gives me time to work out and tone up. At my age I’m gonna have a good amount of loose skin. My neck is already starting to get the dreadful sag. That will be the first plastic surgery I have!

    When does it stop!

I had pain for about two weeks. Then in to my 3rd week I had awful pain below my left incision for about 9 days. Hurt to walk, breath, sit up. Doctor assured me this was normal, he said it was basically nerve pain. Luckily it too subsided and almost 6 weeks out I’m starting to feel normal. I went through a very difficult time emotionally too, it was hard to see the light. Best of luck!
  6. I’m almost 6 weeks post op, down 23 pounds and the only difference I see is in my face. Clothes still fit the same as well. It’s a tad discouraging but I am doing what I’m supposed to and I know in time I’ll see results. Haven’t been able to work out due to pain but that’s under control so I’m getting back to the gym today. Best of luck!
  7. Goodwill is my best friend. Over the past 10 years I’ve lost 60 pounds, gained it back and then some. I had RNY 12-3-18 and look forward to losing and going down in sizes. Our Goodwill offers 99 cent clothes daily and literally 75% of my wardrobe comes from there, and I’m talking some really nice items too. I consider it like a treasure hunt 😊

    No pizza for 4-5 months???

Pizza is my all time favorite foods and one I’m gonna miss having regularly. I found a chicken recipe on Pinterest that has pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and pizza seasoning (I have Flavor God’ pizza seasoning I put on everything) and pepperoni, I plan on using turkey. I’m hoping this will be a good substitute for the flavor of pizza I dearly ❤️.
  11. I had RNY 72 hours ago. Surgery went perfect and I stayed only one night. I was able to to get in my fluids and no nausea. Pain was minimal. But this hunger, I am literally in tears throughout the day because I’m so hungry. Most everything I’ve read says people can hardly get liquids down because they are so full, I’m the opposite. Did my surgeon perform the procedure correctly? Will I eventually have the sensation of getting full on appropriate portions? That was my reason for surgery, I am always hungry. The sleeve would have removed the hunger hormone e but I was not eligible due to reflux. Please let me know if you experienced this and what it was like weeks or months post op, thank you!
  12. Wednesday I’ll be able to transition to a regular diet, hallelujah! Trader Joe’s is my ultimate favorite grocery store and I’d like some healthy suggestions, what others may eat from there that is low carb and Bariatric approved. I don’t like fish or pork. Thanks for any suggestions!

    Only few days in.....

December 3 and my first post op visit I told my nutritionist the surgery was not performed correctly my hunger is so out of control. I’ve read many people say that once they’ve transitioned to solids they feel the restriction. I can chug my fluids with no issue also. I am able to eat regular foods in one week and am anxious to see! Pain and constipation have been rough as well. Best of luck to you 👍🏼😁

    Only few days in.....

I had bypass and for the first week or more I was SO hungry I literally couldn’t sleep at night, absolutely miserable and even cried. I’m now on soft foods and still have hunger, but nothing like that first week. Praying solid foods feel me up, otherwise my surgery was in vain. The main reason I had surgery was because of the constant hunger I suffered from.

    Please Help, I am worried

I am 19 days post op and can drink as normal now, I have to make myself slow down. Pre surgery I drank over a gallon of water a day for years. I’m not taking in as much now, I’m averaging 90 oz and my system sure can tell. My NUT told me as long as the fluids weren’t causing me discomfort I can drink what I want as tolerated.
  16. It’s gonna happen and I just want to be prepared. I already have fine, thin hair. So bad when I pull it back you see my scalp. I’m wondering will I need a wig, a topper, cut it real short? I’d like to hear from you gals who’ve had pretty heavy loss and what you did to deal with it- thanks!
  17. I have been seeing a dermatologist over a year now for my hair shedding and I’ve trued all supplements, Rogaine, you name it. So I’m seriously considering shaving my head if the hair loss becomes so extreme and just rocking wigs. It just gets SO hot here in the south so wearing one in the summer makes me cringe. Tell me, do you have a favorite brand or type?

    Sleeve or Bypass... help!

I was dead set on the sleeve but checked marked “occasional heartburn” when I seriously felt reflux maybe once a year and I eat a ton of spicy foods. Surgeon had me do a Bravo test for 48 because he would not perform VSG on me under any circumstances if I did have GERD. Low and behold, I had reflux often in the night during sleep when I was unaware. So that had me facing RNY which scared me to death and here I am one week post opting well! Except for the hunger, that part has been the toughest. You will do just fine with the bypass, best of luck!

    December Bypass Twin?

No pre op diet for me either. I just watched what I ate the week before to be certain I didn’t gain. I had one great meal at my favorite restaurant with wine but ate healthy the remainder, worked for me. Good luck, I’m 5 days post op and it’s been tough for me.

    December Bypass Twin?

I had my RNY Monday the 3rd, how is everyone doing post op so far if you’ve been in this week? Luckily, I dodge the nausea which had me terrified and liquids are going down easy. But this hunger, I’ve never experienced more discomfort in my life. I can deal with the pain, even that was more intense than I had planned. I have my first post op visits Tuesday and will ask about incorporating some soft foods. I’m so uncomfortable I can’t even communicate with family and friends. Wetting all my protein in and plus some. Hoping everyone is recovering well!
  21. You guys, thank you SO much! All these comments have helped put my mind to ease and I’m gonna shift my mind change to positivity and be grateful for the surgery 😊

6 days post op . I need help!

I’m 3 days post op and miserable! The hunger alone is causing most misery. I’m afraid if I’m this hungry now did the surgery not work for me? Pain has been intense too. Like you, I cry every day I’m so hungry. May your journey improve, a everyone says, it does get better! *hugs*

    December Bypass Twin?

Ae2018- my surgery is in 5 days. No pre-op diet for me but I am watching my food intake. Clear liquids only the day before. I am fairly certain protein shakes will be too sweet for me post op and I have GenePro protein powder which I tried with chicken bullion, not a fan. I plan on making Jell-O shots this weekend with it. I tried chicken broth soup from Unjury and LOVED it so I ordered plenty. I’m trying to stay out of the public as much as possible due to it being cold and flu season and I am not trying to get sick and have surgery postponed so I have stocked up on crystal light and flavored waters as well.

    Alcohol Is The Enemy-HELP!

Happy to read these comments as my surgery is fast approaching (2 weeks) and giving up alcohol is going to be my biggest struggle. I do not drink daily but I do drink often socially and at home sometimes and well, honestly- I love it. So, I know it is a trigger and I do not plan on attempting to incorporate it back in down the road.

    December Bypass Twin?

I too drink around a gallon of water every single day so I’m stressed about the water intake as well! I’m up about every hour in the night to the bathroom (regardless of fluid intake) so I plan on preparing my water on the bathroom counter for a sip every time I’m up. Best of luck to you!
