    I AM OVERWEIGHT!

I kept on my plan. After about 10 days of stall, I deliberately changed my intake for 4 straight days. I ate extra calories (up to 1100, when I normally eat 600 to 800) and carbs (purposely ate over 60 grams when I am normally well below 50 grams) because I'd heard lots of folks did something similar to break their stalls. It did not work for me. After those 4 days I went back to my regular diet and a couple days later the loss picked up again. My body simply needed that time to readjust. I knew that was the case, but I was scared that I was "different" and I was suddenly done losing. Long story short, stick to your plan and give your body a good few weeks to adjust to the massive changes! You will begin losing again in time!
  2. Today begins week 3 of my stall. I spent the last 4 days actively eating above my typical calories and carbs and moving less in an attempt to break the stall. It didn't work. I'm going back to moving more and eating my 650 to 800 calories per day and praying that this is, in fact, a stall and not maintenance already. I "embraced the stall" for the first two weeks. I'm having a really rough time with this and I'm sad and scared because a 3 week stall sounds a lot like maintenance to me. I have 35 pounds to goal (healthy BMI) and I don't want to be right back where I was 6 months ago, unable to lose no matter what.
  3. I am trying to remind myself of the same thing. Maintenance isn't 800 calories per day. I'm 5'5" and 183 pounds. Just existing on this earth uses about 1500 calories per day. That's kind of the only thing I'm holding on to right now. I'm going to stay the course and wait for the loss to pick up again... someday.
  4. Can your husband come over and tell me that there's no deadline? Lol. That is a great point. He's right. The only deadline out there is my own rather arbitrary one.

    Back Pain

Ditto this. My chiropractor said it's partly that the body is adjusting to it's new normal (I'm down 90 pounds in 6 months) and partly that I'm moving in new ways and doing things I didn't used to. I'm a major leg-crosser now, and that is causing some hip and back issues. On a personal note, I think some of it is muscle atrophy from the rapid loss and my lack of good, quality workouts. I haven't been active really at all and I think that plays a role, especially when it comes to inner and outer leg strength. Those muscles help stabilize your hips which can prevent back twisting/pain.
  6. I had my 6 month follow up today and everything is great, had a couple questions and got a couple answers, etc. But then... I asked for my goal weight at my next (9 month) appointment. It was only 9 pounds from where I stand today. I was very (unpleasantly) surprised. Now, I acknowledge that I'm a few pounds ahead of the goal curve, but to see that the loss was going to slow SO dramatically that I should only expect to lose 9 pounds in 3 months... that was a punch to the gut. The momentum I've built these last 6 months means everything to me. I'm not mentally ready to let it go. It's been bothering me all day.

    One year mark

Congratulations on your success and thanks for sharing your story! You look so much younger to top it off!
  8. You guys are the freaking best. You're right! I still have control of my actions and choices and I'm GOING to lose more than 9 pounds over the next three months. Thanks for gently guiding me out of my own pity party!
  9. What you're experiencing is totally normal. I had the same thing and it caught me by surprise, too. I also had difficulty tolerating shakes shortly after surgery. Doc advised me to lay off them for a day or two and try again when my tummy is better healed.

    Confession

I've tried a handful of things- bites here and there. It is a blessing and a curse that my stomach seems to tolerate everything wonderfully.
  11. I'm gurgling as we speak and I'm 6 months out! The gurgle is pretty rare these days but happened all the tim before. It took me a good week or 2 to get to 64 oz. regularly. I had to work at it. Keep at it!

    Drinking

My doc is super conservative compared to most. He says no alcohol for a year. I'm 6 months out and haven't tried any yet only because I try to be super picky about what I ingest to maximize my tool. Alcohol is protein-less calories so I don't want it yet! I will very probably go the full year without any alcohol.

    What Counts as Water

Ditto this. Except protein shakes. Those are to be counted separately from water at my practice.

    Just not feeling good

I'm willing to bet in another couple of weeks you'll perk up dramatically. I thought I'd be good to go in a week or two and then I could get some stuff done while I was on leave. (I was off for 6 weeks). Nope. I really needed every day of that leave, and then I was still pooped out for a couple weeks after I went back to work. But the further out from surgery I got, the better my diet became and I got more protein, more water, more consistent with my vitamins, etc. and I perked up. Give it a bit more time!
  15. Who has been diagnosed with this and how has it been treated? I've been experiencing it occasionally and will ask about it at my appointment on Friday but it doesn't seem like there is much to be done in the way of treatment. Does it tend to resolve itself over time? I'm just now experiencing this at 6 months out.

    Joint pain after vsg

I've also experienced this. My chiropractor said it's pretty normal when you fundamentally change the way you move, which we do (often without realizing it) after losing significant amounts of weight. I'm treating mine with chiropractic care and trying to build some muscle to help properly hold joints and things in place. I also have a massage scheduled soon!
  17. At 11 days post-op you're still very much healing. My doctor's office won't even talk about weight loss until 6 weeks post-op because it takes several weeks for the body to "calm down" and normalize after surgery. You're inflamed and in pain and your body is reeling from its surgical experience. Just keep doing what your doc and NUT say, and this will pass! I just looked at my records and at 11 days post-op I'd "only" lost 13 pounds from my surgery weight. I stayed there for a week and a half. But I'm 6 months post-op tomorrow and down 73 from surgery date! Let your body heal and the weight will resume dropping!
  18. So I've noticed that first thing in the mornings, I feel full. Not "not hungry", but kinda full. By the time I'm done getting ready in the morning it lessens enough that I can start drinking water on my way into work. I practice IF so I don't eat until around noon each day. I have also noticed that sometimes I even get "full" cues first thing in the morning- mostly a runny nose, but sometimes sneezing and sometimes hiccups. Does anyone else experience that? I'm curious about the cause. I used to think it was swelling or something, but I'm 6 months post-op now, so it can't be swelling!
  19. That happens to me, too, but... I also get it first thing in the morning, when I haven't eaten/drank in 12 hours! I find it very odd!
  20. So I think I'm experiencing my first "real" stall (will 6 months post-op on Wednesday) and I need to talk it out. I've had what I called stalls before, but it was basically that I didn't lose for a few days. This time feels different. I was down to 191.6 (for 5 days), but then suddenly jumped back up to 192.8... and it's sticking. Three days in a row. (Yes, I am a daily weigh-er, it's what works best for me.) I have not changed anything that I do, but I "gained" weight and it's not coming back down. Is this my first real stall? How long can I expect it to last? Should I be riding it out or trying to break it? As many of you have experienced- I'm terrified that this is the end. That I'm done losing. I still need to lose almost 45 more pounds to be healthy!! I cannot be done yet! I acknowledge that I'm not exercising like I should be, so that needs to change, but otherwise, below is what I do (all based off doc/NUT recommendations). My diet is not perfect, but honestly, it's pretty dang close. I'm really proud of the changes I've made. Stats for the last 6 weeks: - Average 838 calories per day (I have occasionally eaten around/above 1000 calories, and I occasionally eat around 575 calories. I am supposed to be between 600 and 800 calories per day. In the last 2 weeks I reined it in so that I am not eating above 800 calories, as recommended.) - Average 77g protein per day - Average 63 carbs per day (I have also adjusted this in the last 2 weeks. The average for that period is 53. My personal aim is to be under 50. The NUT refuses to give a carb goal.) - Water intake of 64 - 80 ounces per day I'm scared, and I'm looking for advice... and reassurance that this isn't the end of the road. I'm not healthy yet. I can't be done.

    Diabetic and sleeved

I was on 1000mg of metformin 2x per day and around 40 units of insulin and still had an a1c above 7. I went home after surgery on no meds. At my 3 month checkup my a1c was 5.1. I just had a health screening at work the other day (now almost 6 months post-op) and my fasting blood sugar was normal. It feels great to be on this side of diabetes!

    Nearly One Year Out...LOVING LIFE!

Coming up on 6 months post OP (next week) and I'm 42 pounds from my ultimate goal... so close, but so far away. I needed to see this today. THANK YOU for posting it and CONGRATULATIONS on your incredible success!
  23. Holy crap you look amazing!! I'm an Oct '18 sleeve also and my weight on surgery day was 265. Today I am 191.6 and my 6 month surgiversary is next week. My first goal is to get to 180 (I'm so close!) and my ultimate goal is 150 because it puts me in a healthy BMI range. (I'm 5'5") How tall are you? What exercises are you doing? I want to be your twin!! Lol
  24. In the last couple weeks I've suddenly started chasing that full feeling. I'm terrified. Someone please tell me that I haven't ruined my pouch already. I'm scared that I'm stretching it. I know that if I don't stop chasing the full sensation that I *will* stretch my pouch, so I'm going to get my **** together effective immediately. I am 100% sure this is stress/emotional eating. I had to stop therapy temporarily for financial reasons but I have the knowledge and tools to help myself, so I'm going to get myself under control, even though it's hard and scary. Meanwhile... I'm praying that I haven't ruined myself before I even reached the 6 month mark.

    Chasing that Full Feeling

Thank you all for your support. I will absolutely check out that book! (I just saw a video posted, so I'll watch that, too). I am good about logging EVERYTHING (whether I'm proud of it or not) so at least I have accurate records of my intake. I have recommitted to eating slowly and paying attention to my satiety levels. I'm on the right track!
