Calorie goal for first 2 weeks?

Thanks for all of the responses guys. I’m just getting so concerned when people talk about consuming ~500 calories per day when I’m probably lucky to get in 500 calories in 3 days. Today was another wash. So far I’ve managed to drink 80 ounces water and I have another 16 ounce sitting next to me that I’ll finish before bed. Protein sucked again. I’m getting in about 20-25 grams per day and that’s it. Drank 2/3 of the hot chocolate before the volume made me nauseated and then later in the day I drank about half my protein soup. Hopefully under 30 grams protein will be good enough
  2. I was sleeved on 2-6 and I’ve been able to get in 80oz/day fairly easy provided I set an alarm to wake up early (7am) and start. It’s easier now to drink 2-4 ounces at a time. It hurts, but it has always hurt in the last week and at least now I can get in more volume with the same amount of pain. What I can’t for the life of me do right now is coordinate liquid protein into my regimen. It takes me almost an hour to choke down 4 ounces and then I’m stopped from drinking all during that time and before and after. That being said, this is how I’m managing: Wake at 7am, drink 1 liter of water over 5 hours. Choke down some kind of protein from 12-1 pm. From 1pm-6pm, consume another 1 liter water. 6-7 repeat with the protein 8pm-11pm, drink another 32 ounces (half liter) water. Get up many times to pee in the night and start over again at 7 am slightly more sleep-deprived than the day before. Hopefully my body allows me to “eat” more later

    5 days post-op exercise

Awesome job! Was sleeved on 2-6 and yesterday I finally hit 10k steps for a single day. My job is 100% on my feet and I’ve gotta be ready for those 10-12 hour shifts. Besides, the water goes down much easier with walking. I can set my treadmill for a 2.5 mile walk and drink an entire 20oz water in that hour

    Stomach "growling"

This is my suspicion as well. I also used to suffer GERD all the time so I wonder if this is the acid now without the reflux. All I know is it causes horrible pain/spasming in my diaphragm area and it’s noticeably worse at night. Keeping my fingers crossed that when I’m back to semi-solid foods this will improve.

    5 days post-op exercise

I too have been walking (2.5mph max) on the treadmill for 1-2 hours daily. Was sleeved on 2-6, and have been treadmill walking now for 3 days. I’m thinking walking slow and steady like I am isn’t going to screw up my weight loss because I’m not getting into any kind of cardio zone at this slow and steady of a pace

    First 2 weeks

So update: got on the scale this morning and “only” had a 1 pound loss so it looks like the highly disturbing free-fall might be ending and I can start losing what my nurse predicted would happen. Honestly I’ll feel a lot more comfortable knowing I can drop 1-ish pounds/day because that’s something I can manage: I was almost having nightmares trying to figure out how much water I was going to have to drink while dropping 2.5/day. 😲

    First 2 weeks

Okay so I was sleeved on 2-6-19. I’m 5’6”, and when I started I weighed 259. I was basically in “maintenance” for 6 months because I couldn’t drop under my 40% BMI, but I ended up losing about 10 pounds and barely qualifying by the skin of my teeth (I also might have had my cell phone and wallet in my pants pocket when I was weighed prior to surgery class). I was pretty gung-ho (zero food funerals) and lost about 6 pounds in the 2 weeks prior to surgery, and my first morning after surgery I was upset when they weighed me and I was up 2 pounds from the day before. Understandable,  the nurse (also a sleever) told me. She said , “ I promise you’ll drop 1-1.5 pounds/day for the next 2 weeks. “ Well I was afraid to get on the scale til yesterday (4 days post sleeve) and was completely flabbergasted to see a 10.4 pound drop! Then I got on the scale this morning to see another 2.6 pound drop. How is it possible that I lost 13 pounds in  5 days? Since surgery I’ve gone from 244.2 to 231.0 By tomorrow I’m thinking I might be in the 220’s for the first time in 4 years. Anyone else have crazy numbers like this and how much longer can I expect this?

    First 2 weeks

Absolutely. It was just kinda freaking me out that so much is falling so fast. Okay, so this might go on for another week and then a stall will hit? In the meantime I’m going to compile a list of non-scale victories to help measure progress so when the first stall hits I’m as ready as I can be for it

    First 2 weeks

Still in liquid only phase. I’ve managed to get down somewhere between 60-70 ounces of fluid daily (not counting fluid ingested with proteins) and I’m getting between 2-3 “proteins” daily in the form of soup or shake. Still have 8 more days until I’m allowed to eat anything pureeed

    Stomach "growling"

I am 5 days post-op and experiencing the same. My digestive tract is NOISY. I always suffered acid reflux before, but this is like the acid release with no reflux. I’m not due for my 2 week follow up til next week and I’m going to bring it up with my Doc. Usually some crampy-epigastric pain follows the worst of the growling, but I’ve taken acid reducers and they don’t seem to affect the noise. I also take 40mg pantoprazole once daily. 🤷‍♀️

Will I ever feel normal again?

I’m also struggling with the “ball” sensation. Not quite 2’ days out and while I managed to drink my mandatory 2 liters within 24 hours, every single sip hurt. So since today was my first day back home, I’m finding it impossible to get all of my water in and also protein. I managed to eat 5 spoonfuls of the bariatric oatmeal (in 2 separate sittings) This worries me as I’m supposed to have 3 proteins day. Right now though I’m focusing more on water than anything else
