    Plateu Hell

Hi. I was banded on 7/9/08 and have lost 92 lbs, but I am stuck and am afraid of going the other direction. I was doing fine until I got the stomach flu in January and had Fluid taken out of the band. I got the fluid back, but the surgeon wouldn't replace all of it and I can't go back until the end of April. I now don't have much restriction. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy to have lost as much as I have. But, I have 70 lbs to go and am starting to lose my motivation. If anyone has dealt with this I would really appreciate your feedback. I am sure I just need a swift kick in the backside. Stephenie

    Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)

Hi everyone. I normally just read, but thought I would post. I am a 34 year old mother of 3 (11, 9, and nearly 2). I began my journey on 6/9/08 and it was the best decision I could have ever made. I started at 322 and am now in the 230s. I haven't seen that number on a scale for about 20 years! I went shopping with my mom the day after Christmas and actually was able to look through some of the regular size clothing. I about cried when I really thought about it - plus it didn't hurt that things were 75% off. Congratulations to everyone on your successes. May 2009 bring more triumphs and freedom from our old selves.

    Hello from Louisville KY

I had my surgery on 7/9 with Dr. Lusco. I absolutely love the man! I have not met anyone involved in the program that hasn't been wonderful. I wish I could have used the 6 week exercise program more. Best of Luck - you are giving yourself a wonderful Christmas present!
  7. I am an Accountant, so I mainly have a desk job (unless I am running around the building for meetings). I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back at work for part of the day on Friday. I was definitely fine by Monday. I had been told that this procedure was much easier than having your gallbladder removed. It really was for me, but everyone is different. After surgery I would walk as much as you can to help the gas dissipate. Good Luck with everything!
  8. I am 4 months post-op and wish I hadn't told several of the people I did - including my parents and grandparents. I am not sure how your family is, but mine spreads this information like wild-fire. Then I started getting calls telling me they heard from Joe-Bob that I needed a certain type of underwear that wouldn't irritate the incisions. It was very embarrassing getting this information from the couple of family members that I did, but even more so when it came from my 75 year old Grandma. I have already decided that it I have to have adjustments later (PS), I am not telling anyone....learned my lesson.

    Anyone tried Zumba?

I love Zumba! I try to get in 4 classes in each week at the Y. I leave the classes dripping. I have never been high on exercise, but have always loved to dance. So, it's wonderful to be exercising and having fun at the same time.

    August Exercise Challenge

I am in. I have been sick for the past week and my work schedule has gotten out of hand. So, instead of making excuses to myself for why I can't get the exercise in - I will be accountable to my fellow bandsters. Zumba class 5 days a week  30 minutes each day on the elliptical Walk the treadmill for 30 min twice a week during lunch

    Hello from Louisville Ky

Anne - You will love Dr. Lusco! He is such a nice (young!) guy. I went for my 2 week post-op follow up and am so glad he's my doctor. He was very patient with me as I asked my loads of questions. When you get to your 1 week post-op and can attend the exercise physiologist at STM&E, Kirk is the same way! He let me sit down and ask away. I made the best decision by going with that group to get it done.
  13. I am 2 weeks post-op and too have had salad and was fine. I cut it up in small pieces and chewed until it wasn't crunchy anymore. I am glad to hear that I am not the only person not craving sweets.....which is a great thing! That's one less thing our head has control over us with. I went out with a couple of girlfriends this past weekend, they had ice cream, I had a bowl of chili. :seeya:

    Hello I'm new in here

I was banded a week ago yesterday. I can tell that I am getting hungrier and hungrier as the days pass. I guess that's due to the swelling going down. I am trying to stick to the pureed foods, but has been difficult. I have had a baked potato with chili and some crab meat - of course everything chewed up very well. I am definitely not eating 1/4 of what I ate before. Laurie - Just keep the faith! This too will pass. I am 25 lbs down (including the pre-op diet), but now the scale isn't moving. If anyone has any suggestions......let me know.

    Hello from Louisville Ky

Zumba is based on Latin dance moves. You get a workout while having fun. Everyone that's in the class has a blast. You come out dripping....just from dancing.
